Not into extreme sports myself, but shoulders probably are the commonest water ski injuries, as there is much tension in the shoulders when grabbing at the triangle thingy, and then at the point of impact with the water, the shoulder would in the least be jarred or dislocated, if not fractured.Knew some guys that collided mid air on knee boards and one of them broke a collarbone. I'm not sure how prevalent shoulders are in water skiing, it's been a long time for me, but my recollection of falling was most sideways with arms pretty well tucked in because you're holding the triangle thingy pretty close to your chest. They might be the most common injury though.

with shoulders as strong as his should be the traction from holding the tope shouldn't be a likely issue, but definitely the dismount if landing the wrong way would have high potential for injury. Landing on extended arm could cause compression in the joint that it doesnt like or more likely the arm has been forces up and back which is the common way to dislocate the shoulder which I assume is whats happened and then its a matter of how much associated damage has happenedNot into extreme sports myself, but shoulders probably are the commonest water ski injuries, as there is much tension in the shoulders when grabbing at the triangle thingy, and then at the point of impact with the water, the shoulder would in the least be jarred or dislocated, if not fractured.

You can argue that playing soccer or even tennis has a real risk of injury every time you set foot on the playing field. I’ve done a stack of injuries from tennis alone with tennis elbow, back strain and ankle sprains.what ferguson is that?
wonder what constitute extreme sports though.
How would you rate the risk of injuries of water skiing and something like playing a match of footy?Wines grew up in Echuca, he's probably an experienced waterskiier.
Shoulders are very common injury behind a boat especially the better you are, I've seen dislocated shoulders, strained ligaments, and a completely torn off the bone bicep tendon amongst myself and mates over the years we used to ski.
I'm just under 100kg (Wines would be similar weight) my slalom ski speed was just over 50kph, barefooting speeds around 60-70kph. When you stack it barefooting it feels like you've been hit by a truck, it's very easy to injure yourself.
The funny thing I read on the Port board was that Jonas has a shack and a boat and Wines could have possibly been behind Jonas' boat when he did his shoulder.

I'd just like to point out that Riley Knight goes water skiing regularly. In fact at least one of his ankle injuries was related to it.

Jonas wanted to be the sole captain & keep the tradition of #1 jumper...Wines grew up in Echuca, he's probably an experienced waterskiier.

Yeah a few Port people ringing up 5aa and saying they have cover for Ollie so no big deal.Polec no good. Wingard overrated. Now Wines can be covered by Atley.

A caller just called 5aa said he works at a golf course and had a go at Crows and Port players for using the golf buggies.
But apparently that is a club directive as they are not meant to walk as they could injure themselves.
