What's your worst cricket memory?

Chandimals has been sacked and now dropped from the side. This turning into a nightmare.
What are you talking about? I just googled this can't find news of this anywhere. Also no news of the coach getting sacked like you claimed the other day

Wow ok. Fair enough. Just that there's nothing on Cricinfo or Google about it. Geez it just gets worse for you blokes in that case. But can't you just support India weren't you once a part of India? Geographically speaking Lol you have the best of both worlds

Sandpaper gate. Really just a disappointing saga

Edgebaston with kaspa and lee was tough, but much earlier, 92/93 when McDermott and May almost got us across the line against the windies in Adelaide. Would have seen us go 2-0 up in the series from memory, and would have seen border finally win a series against them. Similar to the kaspa dismissal, McDermott didn’t hit it, given out caught behind, then Ambrose tore through us in Perth. Border retired not long after

When we got rolled by the saffas in Sydney when Fannie de villiers ran through us. D martyn lost his spot for years post the game

Pontings last series against the saffas. Favourite player, but a complete shadow of the player he was

And monkeygate and that whole summer. watching C.A. fold like a deck of cards was disgraceful

Except the SACAs have an impressive history of success.
I've been a member since 1987 and in that time we've won one Shield, and barely contributed to the national team. Hardly an impressive history of success.

This is the mistake a lot of younger people make when they think the game only started when they begun watching. South Australia have won the shield 13 times, give me a yell when St.Kilda get to 13 flags. Queensland have won 8 Sheffield Shields.

Chandimal isn't sacked per se, "given rest" apparently to rediscover his form back. Don't be surprised if he rejoins the team as captain after the tour of South Africa gets over.

P.S.: Celoyn was never a part of India. It has had large cultural exchanges with tamil nadu in the past because of the shared ethnicity of Tamils but tamils are a minority in Sri Lanka and the Sinhala ethnicity, apart from the origin, has developed its own distinct identity and culture. So I don't think your plan works.:D

To be fair SA have only won 2 shields since it’s been a 6 team competition. Think the Saints may have more than one flag if they were in a 4 or 5 team league.

Bugger lol. Was just trying to help the poor guy he seems pretty depressed at his team right now

And my point about the Redbacks' history passes through to the keeper. Not really sure why I bother sometimes.

Kolkata 2001.

Nothing will erase the 10 hours of Shastri commentary torture we had to endure during those 2 days, my broken TV screen never recovered also...

Intense hatred for the man has existed ever since, I’m sure every Aussie takes extra enjoyment in beating India ever since that day in 2001. Second only to the Ashes rivalry because of it.

Our players have to work bloody hard to overcome the perception that South Australian players aren't up to it, that's a problem. I know our our history but two Shield's in forty years isn't even close to good enough.

Ok then... was simply stating you’re more likely to win titles when there’s less teams to compete against after you compared SA with St Kilda.

Special mention to Agar and Starc both bottling their 100’s which looked like being absolutely incredible at the time in completely different circumstances.

This board for the 2 hours during Agar’s innings was legendary.

Callum Ferguson getting run out on debut was pretty disappointing, didn’t even give himself a chance. Then the selectors didn’t give him another chance and picked Nic bloody Maddison...
Good one. That was disappointing. I remember his brother flew down from London (?) and the camera cut to him swearing and walking away from his seat. Worked so hard to get a cap only to waste it.

Pretty weak to spear Chandimal.

He’s been world class for a long time, a shit series or two doesn’t change that
A bit off-topic (although it is disappointing) but this. How can you drop Chandimal and justify keeping Thirmanne or Roshen Silva or Dhanajaya? They made him move to no.3 when he much prefers to bat 5 or 6 and because he took on the extra responsibility he loses his captaincy and is dropped? Ridiculous.

Sri Lanka do have a history of sacking captains though or atleast forcing them to give up the captaincy. I reckon all of Jayasuriya, Attapattu, Vaas, Arnold, Dilshan, Sangakkara, Jayawardene and Mathews were either sacked as captain or atleast pressured to resign over the last 20 years or so. It seems to be their solution whenever the team is struggling and it surely cant be good for team unity?

There is a really good article on cricinfo as of last night that addresses this.

Sri Lanka keep trying to fix their issues from the top down - sack the coach, sack the captain.
When reality suggests they need to fix it from the bottom up - their domestic pitches vary between the two extremes of allowing spin to just run through every line up like a hot knife through butter, or making life incredibly easy for batsmen, and at no point do the quicks get a look in at all.

Just read some bloke over there scored back to back double tons in the same first class match. The 14th double ton scored in their first class comp this season. That pretty much tells you all you need to know

Bruce Reid not being able to get bat on ball against Chris Pringle I think it was in a one dayer, all five balls of the final over he played and missed and got run out on the final ball we ended up losing by a couple of runs from memory watching it on YouTube
The Hobart one? I thought it was against Danny Morrison, but may well have been Pringle. I think it was two to win, one to tie. I do recall the section of the hill I was on chanting "Bruce" for an over, but also knowing deep down he wasn't going to win the game. It was omedy, but only a one day game so not "worst cricket memory" for me.

My worst memory would have to be getting smacked for 22 off an over by a "shutty-eye-hitty-hard" type, 39th over of a 40 over game. 6.466.
