Perhaps see if any other CEOs are publicly saying that their team will play finals.

What does saying that achieve? Absolutely nothing. Especially with this group, that has proven time and again that it cannot perform under expectation. Set it as an internal goal with the playing group. It’s no one else’s business really.
True, I recall some big statements coming out of the St Kilda camp not to long ago, how did that turn out.

Meanwhile, Ken says that if the team performs to what it is capable of (notice the caveat), we will play finals.

That's what I've always said - if this team performs to what it is capable of, we will win the flag. :P

The same criterion applies to the coach :)

Agreed.
I do still believe we could have already done so if our execution skills were better.
I have confidence in what we can achieve in 2019, we seem to be all on the same page at last and the changes in the coaching panel and the removal of ploders from the playing group are the main reason.

As far as I can tell, the club does not have a partner/sponsor that supplies and installs residential solar panels, batteries etc
Is that correct?

If we did I'd seriously consider using them.

Mr Gupta has you covered.

GFG Alliance division SIMEC bought 51% of Zen Energy in September 2017, which became SIMEC Zen Energy.

If you look at the top of the page you will see drop down buttons for residential solar panels and another button for Batteries.

Ports should get some panels up on the ASPHQ roof and reduce ongoing electricity costs... would hopefully get a good deal from the club sponsor to do it.

Terry Wallace on Port's flakiness

Terry Wallace has explained why he believes Port Adelaide are a “flaky” group heading into the new season.
The AFL Hall of Famer cited the inability to seize the big moments in games as one of the reasons behind his worries about the Power.
“You even go back to the season prior where they had that home final against ‘Dad’s Army’ in the West Coast Eagles,” Wallace told SEN SA’s Dwayne’s World.
“They virtually had the game in their grasp and they found a way to get beaten. It’s those big moments that have just worried me.”

Can't argue with that. I have been calling us flaky, even flakey, since mid 2017.

I was going to ask our directors on the board who have been there since 2012, at the AGM, in their opinion, why have we become such a flaky side post 2014 and started to become flaky off field?? Alas I misunderstood the AGM starting time and had to go to the airport, so I only heard Koch's speech and missed the Q&A session.

Are you sure we're flakey. We might be butterfishey?

Macca19 would know.

I think we've been flakey since 2007.
Those scars need some 1977 type healing.

Maybe its time to sit the current team down in front of the big screen, watch the 77 GF and then let them have a chat to these blokes (RIP Bruce and Randall)

24. Anthony Hannan 22. Greg Phillips 3. Randall Gerlach
21. Len Warren 17. Peter Woite 4. Ivan Eckermann
26. Bruce Light 1. Russell Ebert (c) 11. Kym Kinnear
31. Trevor Sorrell 18. David Granger 6. Andy Porplycia
16. Paul Belton 5. Tim Evans 2. Darrell Cahill
10. John Spry 27. Max James 8. Brian Cunningham
23. Tony Giles 13. Geoff Blethyn

Coach: John Cahill

Ask the hard questions with regard to what it was about sides like 1977 that never gave up.

We have never really healed from the physiological scars of 2007 GF. Fortunately we have from some, but not all of the monetary scares.

At the end of 2015 I looked at the number of wins by all sides post 2007 GF. It wasn't pretty and I haven't been arsed to do it since because we haven't improved much, relatively to others. This is just for minor round games.
