Best night of my Crows supporting life bar none.

The celebrations after the final siren, didnt stop it would have kept going if there was no grand final to play lol.

Even though we smashed the Cats that night, I remember getting nervous with every goal they scored. Even with 6 goals up at 3QT, I still thought hmmm they are still in the game. I have seen too many Crows nightmares over my time to feel confident.

That was some sort of hostile crowd that night. Everyone in the stands was letting him have it.

He abandon us, I dont think anyone would have begrudged him going home but maybe back at the time we all felt that he could have stayed till he was FA or if the compensation for him was two single digit 1st rounders.

I very specifically remember this feeling.

Only once JJ kicked the second of the last quarter did I start to exhale.

The issue was Dangerfield was how much of a knob he was about it. however his decision did get us into a GF as I have no doubt that the Crowd for that Prelim helped the Crows that night, by far the best game I have ever attended as a Crows fan. Which made the GF capitulation that much worse.

The problem was we played our GF that night. We clearly had no physical or emotional energy left on GF day.

The sadness and irony of 2017 is that if Richmond played the Cats in Geelong in Week 1, we would have played them in the prelim and knocked them out, with us having to face Dangerfield in a GF.

Imagine if Sloane hit Danger in GF instead of the Prelim. We would never stop talking about it.

We would have rolled the Cats at the G in a GF, as they too would have had to play an epic Prelim to win it as well. Or even better a traveling non Vic side like GWS.

I thought that was the defining moment of our season that we won the flag. Dangerfield in typical arrogance lay motionless on the field as if he was Jesus Christ being crucified. Without the immediate benefit of a replay, I thought Sloane was gone for the GF.

That night was such an unbelievable atmosphere. Aside from the grand finals in 97 and 98 at the G, being at Adelaide Oval for that night was one of the greatest nights of being a Crows supporter.

Sloaney and Danger are very good mates.

Yeah he was a FIGJAM, but he was our FIGJAM.

He has got worse now (bugger Personality for the bigger Vic market) and is working his way into a post playing career in the media or maybe with the AFL in some capacity.

Sloane and Danger are friends, but they're not as close as the media makes them out to be.

Danger had Phil Davis and Tom Lynch (Adel) as his 2 groomsmen at his wedding. Rory was at the wedding, but not in the bridal party.

it surpassed 98 for me, not 97. the smile just couldn't be wiped from my face

the smile got wider the next day when I saw ticketek took money from my account!

was a fun week, ended about 3:30pm the next saturday

Phil Davis is an interesting choice given they were only on the list together for 3 years, and haven't lived in the same state since.

Would've thought he might have made a closer connection in the 5yrs leading up to the wedding.

Didn't Davis grow up in Vic but moved to SA in his late teens? They were probably friends before getting drafted, probably the same for Lynch.

Very topical at the moment so you'd think most would come to the same conclusion re Jack Steven.

If it is MH then hope he gets the help he needs, however if it is to do with self reporting after a few too many lines of Charlie then it adds to the weight to Riewoldt and Thomas and their claims.

The cynic in me wonders if those stories came out knowing a player was about to go through that process.

Hope not.

No, NSW (Canberra from memory). Moved to Adelaide early teens with his fathers work.

Whatever is affecting him, hope he sorts it out. Love watching him play

He has had a couple of issues in the past, although not for several years

Can't blame Danger for the compensation we so quickly accepted that year. Look, it sucked the way he played us all year, giving hope he was staying but it must of been bloody hard wanting to do the best he could in his last year (and he did) and not wanting to be torn apart by his own teams supporters for the year.

I was pretty pissed he left, more with the compensation we took but all of that was sated when it became clear that he was never going to play in a flag. He is nothing more than a side story in my support for the Crows.

Obviously though, I did get a lot of venting out that night when Sloaney poleaxed him

It reminds me of the time when Buddy pulled the plug on his season while the Swans were still alive in the finals.
