Agreed; the best story he could come up with is that he raised the issue of Muslims in the party room because he wanted to help them, and help them so much Julie Bishop had to remind everyone the party doesn't believe in discrimination. It's not a remotely plausible story, he's worse off for trying to push it.

My father in law - a barely literate immigrant coal miner of all things - would never dream of buying The Age or listening to the ABC such is his level of indoctrination.

He hates unions with an unrivalled passion, completely oblivious to the fact they might be the only reason he is still alive.

I’m not sure what “the romans” ever did for him but his commitment to their cause is beyond question.

There is this theory that the Universe is one giant simulation, and we live within this simulation, and it is easier to create a universe through a procedural generation method, than it is to manually build each brick. So anywho... that's why in Minecraft, when you meet a villager they just grunt and run inside their houses when they see the dark. The villagers are victims of their circumstance... their algorithm does not allow them to think for themselves.

Yep, it's Flatland, the Parable of the Cave etc. I wrote in here or another thread, that I know an old couple who live behind the bars on their windows, too scared to go outside, and barely get out. But inside their self-imposed jail they only get their news from the people who are deliberately and methodically manipulating them and their fears*.

I once wondered why they voted the way that they do (i.e. they vote for The <spit> Liberal Party), but it hit me one day when I noticed they had a Readers Digest in the dunny, a Daily Terrorgraph on their dinner table, and Channel Seven on their lounge-room TV. That was the algorithm that shaped their neurons and perspective of the outside world. When I speak to them about politics they give an engineered grunt response and then run inside when they see dark people.

But if they saw Flatland, like the sphere allowed the circle to do, or turned around to see what was creating the shadows, and they would see the world for what it really is. Then they will become "Steve".

But anywho, it is going to be really embarrassing when they meet their maker, sure, when there is a really intelligent person manipulating the strings on society, a person would not be too offended, ergo "I was tricked into believing that Kim Jong Un is a good bloke, but at least the person who tricked me claims he has a genius level intelligence", but when you get a dickhead in charge like Morrison... "I... err... was tricked but err... uhm... err...".

*i.e. our elected Australian Government and a certain news media conglomerate
