The 'Project' appearance was typical Scummo. He went there with his talking points and combined them with his customary bullying. Still don't know where he or the Coalition stand insofar as Hanson is concerned. Which is what he wanted of course. Playing both ends against the middle is part of Scummo's game plan.

I was disappointed Waleed didn't take a stronger stand on Scummo's bullying and talking over him and force him to answer the put question. A more experienced journo would have nipped that in the bud.

I don’t think Morrison understands the gravity of the situation. It might have been all fun and games to pretend that they’re two-bit versions of Francis Underwood from House of Cards, getting us to vote for them through fear and hatred. But now it’s time to take responsibility for the result.

He’s supposed to be PM isn’t he?

I've watched politics closely for almost 25 years.

That might've been the most brutal thing I've ever seen. It was worse than GST on cakes, it was worse than "the real Julia".

It went ok for the first 8 minutes or so. But beyond that? Morrison was ****ing destroyed and showed himself completely incapable of the position he holds.

He couldn't give a straight answer on the "problem with Islam" question, refusing to admit that some of his backbenchers have fuelled hatred. He in effect confirmed that he raised the question of whether to stoke fears around Islam for political gain. He refused to give a straight answer around preferences - Aly's question around "will you preference One Nation behind the ALP and the Greens" is the one question I've been waiting for someone to ask.

But his worst performance was around the medevac question - he couldn't explain why all the public advice we've seen (around who the Minister can reject) was wrong, he couldn't justify the suggestion that Manus was full of murderers, rapists and pedophiles, and he couldn't explain why a small number of those suspected of serious crimes justified flat out refusal to consider the other 50.

And that exasperated line - "I'm the Prime Minister!" - was ****ing death.

If he wasn't already cooked, he is now. He's proof that for all the politicking, networking and fundraising - the most important trait of a PM is that he has to be the smartest guy in the room. Cos when he's not? When he's just a guy of average intelligence with reasonable people skills? A journo like Aly who is the smartest person in most rooms will make you look like a ****ing moron.

Julie Bishop is a piece of shit for suggesting people dying of mesothelioma didn't deserve justice while they were still alive. But anyone with conservative ideology in Australia who doesn't yearn for her as leader over Morrison after seeing that is ****ing kidding themselves - at least she's the smartest person in most rooms.

I think the most important traits any PM needs to have to be politically adept are cunning, shrewdness and political experience. After all, it is hard to manage both media and public expectations without a healthy dollop of all three.

These traits of course overlap with intelligence, but aren't quite the same thing. For example, I doubt that John Howard in his political prime was the smartest person in most rooms - but he would have been the most politically adept, and that was enough.

Be interesting to see if it has any , if at all bearing on the NSW election.

My thoughts exactly. While I've generally got a bit of time for Waleed as a commentator, I really don't rate him as an interviewer. He's a flat track bully, and tonight he came up short. Same topic and talking points would have had Leigh Sales absolutely blowing ScoMo's w***ery & waffling to bits.
In the end I thought it was mostly missed opportunities (on both sides) and a waste of time. I don't think too many people's opinions would have been influenced by those 30 minutes.

Scummo got exposed. Badly.

He was that badly exposed that he forgot to mention 'Labor bad' until almost the end.
He was clearly on the hop at times … but was then just allowed to waffle for extended periods. Which was unconvincing and barely on topic, sure, but I thought there were times he deserved to be nailed rather than just dance away.

Body language was all bad for Scummo. He blinks when he lies, which is often.

Which is why Tones was ideal for this because, as a lizard person, he does not blink, and instead cleans his eyes with his tongue

I know it doesn't take much effort, but you might just be cooked if The Project (of all shows) is able to make both your PM and deputy PM look like turkeys.

Sometimes they do it on their own too.

Shortly after Scummo gave his canned "these are matters for the party executive" answer about One Nation preferences:

I think journalists who are not in the liberal camp are giving him waffle room to avoid perception of being biased against him, also that his waffle works against scomo anyway.

body language stank of arrogance which was surpassed by "I'm the PM" comment.

the bloke is a narcissist at the very least, a bad liar at best.

Would've been better off not going on the show since his team couldn't think of any decent spin.

This is The Project so the next segment was probably Peter Helliar doing a cooking segment.

Scott Morrison is pathetic and mean.

I'll give ScoMo credit for going on the Project for what was likely to be a difficult interview, but that prefence section of the interview was really, really bad for ScoMo.

This is a PM who directly interfered with the pre-selection process in NSW who is now just a pawn to what the party-room says?
If you're a PM and you're not the loudest voice in the party-room, you're finished.
