Could Fort place CHF instead of SavRat?

Probably too early to consider moving SavRat to the VFL at this stage.

A Mile too early.. We won the game... and Sav played against Moore who was impressive.probably a similar leap.

He is a young KPF.. he will have up and down performances for years .. just think on Hawkins. It took years..

My comment was on Guthrie, but I agree with you on Tuohy.
My mistake. I wouldn't play Guthrie until he gets some desire. Our team functioned perfectly without him.

Any one see Chris Scott on 360? He seemed to infer that the kids had done enough to stay in..
I had a fan blaring in my ear so I missed most of it.

Good to hear. Did he hint at any changes?

No ..they were talking about playing debutants .. etc and just a comment that they had done enough to stay in ..or something like that. No commitment thats for sure. Id not say a change is a lock.

2 things at play here: belief and round 3

Because the kids are playing on a bit of belief after that win against the odds let them go into the match against Melbourne unchanged. You bring in someone who missed preseason you undermine that.

Round 3 provides us yet another short break trip to Adelaide to take. We got pummeled last year after bringing in Buzza and Simpson. Good strategy, wrong names
Give half matches to Tuohy, Abbott and Guthrie this round in vfl so that they can prove their fitness and present cherry ripe to cover any injuries that arise. Any talk of who that would be is premature until Saturday night.

Without looking at match ups Tuohy for Kolo would be my only change. Would like to bring Narkle in off the back of his VFL performance but I’d give Miers another go. Narkle needs to show that he really wants to get back in. Henderson stays out for team balance. Maybe he swaps when Harry needs a rest during the year?

I reckon the kids did enough to earn another game.. And I really don't see any point in when they drop a kid after one game.

I also don't see a problem with some players having to fight their way back in from the VFL.

Tuohy is comfortably best 22... But he hasn't played a game in anger in 6 months.. I hope he gets a week or 2 to get some touch in the 2s. Guth won't have played game in 3 weeks come the weekend, again there is nothing at all wrong with him having to play a game in the 2s

Demons and Gawn fired up this week. Will be interesting to see how we go about it. Stanley is not the aggressor type, so expect some criticism of Scott if we don’t rough him up, but if we go after him they’ll definitely be ready to throw their weight around to help out. All of a sudden cats have an X on their backs after one win. Selwood more time in middle this week as Kids will be harassed a bit too I think. Fiery clash coming up!

No he didn’t have any input to my knowledge on the negotiation of the contract.

Well I can categorically say that there is absolutely no way that can be true regardless of who the coach is. If the coach had no input into how the club should attempt to value what his skills make him worth then that is downright negligent and derelict. Just didn't happen and there is no question that the club would speak to all those in the know about him as a player before even making a tentative offer.

Agree. Unless we come out to hunt them down, we'll get beaten badly.

I'm bamboozled by the call for Guthries return. We lost the elimination final by a truckload. We started with a new team that did Collingwood and should reward that team. The kids brought passion I hadn't seen from Cam for 4 years. Keep the passion rolling g I say. If any changes, Narkle BOG on the weekend. Consider him alone.
Why bring up the Elim final as if it was Guthrie's fault. There were plenty worse. You don't see Cam's passion because you don't see it. Not because he doesn't have it. If he went elsewhere and played to his usual level, "you"'d be saying "why didn't he do that with us". (You as in plenty)
Varcoe is a prime example.

I think Hendo stays out for now as Taylor was outstanding, unless he comes in for Sav but again I think not.
I think 2E, Bews and Guthrie wait until the Adelaide game for O'Connor and whichever kid/s is sore enough to not risk on an interstate 5 day break. We're pretty versatile now with part time mids who can play forward and back if necessary, particularly Guthrie (who I rate higher than some in here). Kolo's going nowhere. Miers gets another game to show a bit more and if he's so-so, Narkle is waiting for Round 3. I thought Henry was good on Stephenson and is comfortably Top 20-22 for mine. Constable and Atkins have to play this week or they will be sending a very poor message to the whole team. Stanley and Sav do the ruck duties again against Gawn. We don't get into Gawn unnecessarily. That's Port's go, not ours.

He said they'd all have some justification in believing they deserved a few more games. He said it well.
It's up to him to select the best 22 to play a desperate Demons team hell-bent on redemption, pardon the intended puns. This team we put out hunted the Pies and were desperate. This week we are going to get tested in a really different way. A couple of our kids will not know what's hit them. Is that good so early? Not if we have better equipped players to handle this. Anyway, I'm glad we can have our own opinions, but none of us really know the best solution at this early point.

Sorry, poor wording on my part. I should have said that I was unaware of his involvement.

Yeah I thought Scott's comments actually implied one or more of the kids would go out. He could've easily said they all deserve to stay in but instead he said they'd all believe they deserve to stay in almost implying that their belief wasn't quite enough.

He also said something about the debutants all being best 22 "right now" which is the type of qualifier he normally doesn't make and he's notorious for describing 30+ players as best 22. It seemed clear to me that he was saying that the kids all absolutely deserved to play given the players we had available but they wouldn't have been picked if others had been fit (not specifying who of course).

I'd bring in Henderson for Kolo. I think he is the better player just plain and simple.

I know he is young, but he took 0 marks. 0 shots at goal too. I'm not sure I'd keep him in the Seniors if his output remains that level by end of round 3.

Hawkins on the other hand showed a lot more talent when he was the same age. We just stuffed Hawkins around in the ruck for a while at the start, which was silly imo. I used to scream play him Full Forward and just leave him there. Having said that, he did have to contend with Mooney and Podsiadly early in his career, which is probably why they experimented with him in the ruck at times.

It'd reinforce the old 'jobs for the boys' mentality that has cursed the club and been the source of much frustration here
Frustration, maybe.
Cursed, no way. Not in this millennium.

Sure, but at this point it's one game back from a bad break, on a night where Tomahawk was the only key tall forward on either side to have an influence.
