What is so laughable and shocking about the press conference? Everything he said made sense. Is it the lack of anger?

I think it is time for Brad to go. ….The problems I have with Brad are two things.

1. Brad wants us to play a game of fast, chip it around, handball, run, run, short pass game. Problem is, we can play that style when we do circle work at training. But in a game, under pressure, we crumble and our skills are deplorable. Now if we had a Gaff, Kelly and Dustin Martin (Co-incidentally, all 3 players we chased hard), then by all means, play the short game, because the 3 players I mentioned hit targets....9 out of 10 times. But our team does not possess the skill level to play this style of game.

You would think Scott, after 10 years as coach, would know our team's ability and inabilities.

In fact, R Lyon knows our team better than B. Scott. That's why he had 2 Freo players sitting in our forward half, just waiting for north to turn it over under pressure and they smashed us on the rebound.

2. Atley LMac J Mac Turner. I don't care if they are great clubmen. I don't care if they are the first to help out at the huddle. As footballers, they are limited. They are consistently C grade players. Why does he refuse to drop them ? LMac was appalling last week. He doesn't get dropped. He wasn't much better today. Meanwhile Ahern cant get a game, not even as a FP (even though he kicked 3 against Port in the JLT). Tom Murphy looks the goods. But do we get games into him ?

And if you think I am over-exaggerating, ask yourself how many games Atley, JMac, LMac and Turner, would get at the Pies, Cats, Richmond ?

The sad thing about our club. We could have gone with a new coach, new ideas and new game. That was the right road, but the harder road. So what do we do, we avoid the hard decisions and take the easy road and re-sign Brad again.

No wonder our club has gone 20 years without a GF appearance.

Brad has killed my passion for this club. I can’t even be bothered to go to games anymore, where as at least a few years ago, I would be really excited for the game each week. I’m tired of this club not giving me what I want, which I think quite a few of you could relate. I’d rather go do other things with my weekends than get my hopes sh** on. I’m tired of getting angry over football games, but I just can’t help that part of me. Brad Scott is a politican. He makes the same excuses, blames any problems on circumstantial things, like the roof being open, or the new rules (which he voted on). I don’t buy into any bs that this guys spouts anymore. F*** Brad Scott!

Now the emotion has subsided (a bit), I’m slightly conflicted by this. I’ve always liked Brad Scott. He seems like a good guy and I have no doubt whatsoever that he has fully committed himself to NMFC and given the job his best efforts. I find any personal attacks on him as distasteful and insensitive. He has served the club to the best of his ability.

But….

On day the day Dean Laidley gave away his coaching job in June 2009, what would have been the brief for the incoming coach, if it was anticipated he’d still have the job ten years later? I’d break it down into three areas

Results: Premierships, wins, losses, finals. Numerical stuff. Easy to measure. Premierships: Zero. Grand Finals: Zero. Top 4 finishes: Zero. Finals series: 4 out of 9. Finals wins: 4 out of 8. Finals series with a win: 2 out of the 4. Overall W/L record: just over 50%.

Not disastrous but not overwhelmingly good. But over the course of nine years, it’s short of a pass.

Performances: How does NMFC play? Game plans, structures, processes, systems. What will NMFC look like when they go out in any game regardless of wins and losses?

It’s a fail. In the early days it was “run, gun and have some fun” then with Petrie, Waite and Brown it was the “triple towers.” Are we a contested ball team? Are we based on forward pressure? Elite midfield? Handball/uncontested possession? Pure defence? Who knows? It changes every year. It seems reactive. Sometimes it seems so abstract it can’t be defined.

Culture: What’s the mindset? What level of accountability is there? What does it look like when the game plan gets beaten and effort is all that’s left? Is it evident that everyone is on a path to be the best they can be? B-graders becoming A-graders? A steely eyed resolve to be “never beaten.”? High performance, professional, elite? Class players come in but make no difference. What is wrong with the planning of this side?

This is hard to tell as you can only pick a culture by being part of it. But from the outside, it’s a fail. How does Shaun Atley go nearly ten years without ever being dropped? Luke McDonald brings up 100 in a couple of weeks, but his spot is never is questioned. Yet, Paul Ahern is on the outside for no apparent reason. The strengths of the North culture seem to be all off field – no pokies, the Hub, AFLW – all strong causes. But for me and my kids, boring members in Aisle 34 Row P, it’s not helping as we watch inevitably as a side who we thought were ahead of us ream past us. Do my kids say every Monday, “Yeah, we lost to Brisbane and Freo, but we have a top notch social inclusion program?”

So in three areas, Brad Scott has not achieved a definitive tick in any area at any stage. Ad two games into a new year and you’ll be lucky to find a NMFC fam optimistic about any success in the 2019 season. We’re jaded. We’ve heard it all before and we have 20 weeks to go. Aside from the inevitability of today’s capitulation, was the ambivalence from the fans. Was it a NMFC home game against an interstate opponent? I couldn’t tell. We’re over it. We want change. Enough’s enough. We want some stimulus to make footy exciting again.

Thank you Brad or your efforts. You are a Shinboner. But like many Shinboners of the past, your efforts and intentions weren’t enough to achieve what we wanted to achieve. Those Shinboners have a revered part of our history and eventually, so will you. But it’s time to move on. This club needs an injection of energy and new ideas and unfortunately, this requires a new voice.

Yeah, my days of support for him are now over. For the reasons you give (in particular, his full commitment to NMFC), I have always been on his side.

But now it is unequivocally clear that he is the problem, plain and simple. Must go before any more serious damage is done.

Many of us are feeling the same way. I suggest you get on the NMFC facebook and let them know what you are thinking. Eventually, if enough of us post.....they will have to listen....

Unfortunately we are stuck with him.

It’s rare for this club to dump a coach and especially rarer if he has significant time to run on his contract.

You get the feeling the finances have more of a say on if he remains coach, than his actual coaching performances.

He should have been given the arse as soon as he started talking about the aggressive reset and dumping club legends.

Not only has he turned the playing list into one big steaming turd, but he has also destroyed the clubs culture along the way.

I have nothing against Dom Tyson, but the very decision to trade for him shows how short sighted this bloke is. Was he going to help us take the next step?

Should have taken the pick and played lotto on a kid.

Laughable. :stern look

I had no problem with his observations in the first two minutes of that clip; they were as obvious as the fluffy dice on Arthur Clokes rear vision mirror

But wat really is the problem is the lack of pre season foresight he had to plan, adapt, change to the new centre square set up

Instead we served up the same set up from 2018 and then acts surprised that we got murdered in the centre square

Unless something changes, it only takes one nimble quick opposition mid fielder in there and we can expect another 43/9 point flogging

Quite seriously, who will be the next coach?

It can't be a first timer, and it can't be a soft and friendly mentor.

To turn this around we need somebody who has a proven record as a coach, and somebody who will tell this group that if they want to achieve anything in their playing career with the blokes standing around them then they need to be prepared to work a damn site harder than they have ever done before, compete for a spot in the team every week and demand that their teammates all bust their guts for the team, club and supporters. And every player must demand from the coaching staff and selection panel that they work the players butts off on the track, and they put the best team on the park every week. No favourites getting special treatment.

I stopped watching after the 20 point win line.

Loser talk.

I actually expressed my frustration on Channel 7 one time.

Using the new rules as an excuse for why we lost. everyone in their right mind could see that better centre sqaure was required this year.
im struggling to find the motivation to attend anymore matches when this bloke is in charge.

This is literally Arsene Wenger all over again except Arsene actually won something.
From one Gunner to another, ****in oath.

That’s exactly what I would compare it to. I am genuinely baffled by the amount of supporters that look back at those prelims as some great over-achievement. Who the f*** cares about Prelims? The board is way to invested in mediocrity.
