Yeah, my days of support for him are now over. For the reasons you give (in particular, his full commitment to NMFC), I have always been on his side.

But now it is unequivocally clear that he is the problem, plain and simple. Must go before any more serious damage is done.
I'm pretty much the same.

The problem we face is the NM Board absolutely adores Brad. So the reality is, Brad ain’t gonna be axed any time soon, no matter how much the supporter base demands it. Brad has too many friends in positions of power at the club.
And on the flip side, Brad ain’t gonna walk, because as he said a couple of years back when he apparently was on thin ice, “If the club thinks i’m the best man for the job, who am I to walk away?”

And yeah, the smiling and giggling at his pressers makes me sick. It’s a clever tactic to show the media and the football public that everything is going according to plan.

A Neil Balme as a director of football could quite easily coach BS.

Hardwick was against the ropes in 2016.
Took on some personal advise on what he was doing wrong. Coupled with with some self reflection, changed some behaviour in the off season and bang...

We poor clubs don't have the $$$

This!

I listened to an interview a few weeks ago on SEN with Buckley I believe, and from the sounds of it the club are all chips in with BS due to his making Prelim's with what the club called average lists. They believe that with the player we have recruited/drafted that BS will take us to a G/F. Those of us who aren't drinking the BS bathwater see us as either treading water or acgively going bakwards under BS.

Brad's game day coaching begins and ends before the game actually starts.

He has his set gamestyle in stone and let's the game develop as it may from the first bounce until the final siren.

It's his biggest downfall.

Take Round 1 as an example. Clearly, we went in thinking Freo would be the stodgy, slow ball moving side as they have been for the entire time
Under Lyon.

Low and behold, they come with a completely different gamestyle and blow us off the park in the first 30 mins.

What do we do? Absolutely nothing.
Did the same this week and has done the same 95% of his coaching career.

His game day coaching ability is the worst i have seen.

Whilst the margin was less this week, the same issue with loose men all over the ground was prevalent. The time for bradisms, excuses and rationalisations is over , he is kidding himself if he is thinking of backing the same team and game plan against Adelaide or even Essendon. We will get absolutely smashed.

The overwhelming feeling for me regarding Scott and his coaching has become apathy. So many good posters have made so many good points, measured and well thought out regarding his tenure, so it seems somewhat pointless to go over them again. But realistically, it’s difficult to suggest that he is not the problem anymore.

I had wanted to do a breakdown of the players that had probably not reached their potential under Scott. If we’re being serious, a combination of injuries and bad coaching probably contributed to guys like Harper and Black not reaching their potential as players. Going through the list of players, it’s difficult not to note the absolute black hole that has persisted at the mid-sized forward position through Brad’s tenure. During his time at the club we have had the following:

Kieran Harper – 40 games – 37.23 – average of 8.90 disposals a game
Aaron Black – 57 games – 69.50 – average of 11.65 disposals a game
Mason Wood – 40 games – 52.42 – average of 13.38 disposals a game
Jy Simpkin – 37 games – 21.12 – average of 13.32 disposals a game
Taylor Garner – 34 games – 24.18 – average of 13.15 disposals a game
Nathan Hrovat – 34 games – 21.11 – average of 15.90 disposals a game
Kayne Turner – 60 games – 43.23 – average of 10.85 disposals a game
Corey Wagner – 9 games – 0.3 – average of 8.11 disposals a game
Lindsay Thomas – 212 games – 329.243 – average of 11.35 disposals a game

Our drafting and development of mid-sized or small forwards has been abhorrent. You can excuse Harper, Black and Garner due to their horrendous injury histories, but even when they’ve been fit, they’ve been unable to get the footy. Let’s not forget we are talking about guys that were described as “explosive”, “dangerous around goals”, “elite pressure”, “legitimate small forward talent”, “hard as a cat’s head” in their draft years. Why haven’t they come on? Why don’t they average two goals a game? Why haven’t we been able to draft and develop a mid-sized forward, a small forward, or a genuine flanker since probably Lindsay Thomas? Where is our talent identification falling down so badly that we have a gaping hole at the position and have had since 2006?

Even Ziebell going down there has provided a few more goals, but he still has never averaged more than 19 touches a game even in the years he was playing full time midfield. Just on our midfield, it appears we either recruit players and can’t develop them to get it more than 20 times a game (unless you’re Cunnington) or we recruit players from other clubs who subsequently look terrific until their flair is coached out of them.

Brad can’t develop players. I don’t think this is up for debate anymore. The other ones I don’t really care about, but Simpkin is so talented Paul Roos said he’d take him at 1. As a 17 year old. And he would’ve played him in Melbourne’s Round 1 AFL side. Likewise, Turner has given apparently everything he can for the club and tries to do so every week – it is not his fault that he is a limited footballer skill-wise. Those two should be the lynchpins of our small forward brigade for years to come. But Simpkin is being turned into a plodding nothing position player who looks slow and doesn’t trust his instincts. Turner could never get the footy but relies solely on effort, which doesn’t need to be developed.

I genuinely feared for LDU before yesterday, when he looked like a star in the making. I think he and Cunnington will be the two players that cannot be Brad-ified.

We are 10 years into having the one coach. And we have nothing to show for it. We have a few preliminary final appearances where we got our backs blown out. We have a 50% winning record, a wonderful culture of excellence and a club supporter base that is either apathetic to what’s going on onfield or using Facebook to send death threats to the coach. I watched on Sunday and when our three midfielders ran forward, leaving Lachie Neale to have his 81st clearance and Charlie Cameron to kick the dagger, I didn’t get angry. I didn’t really even register any change in behaviour. I just watched and thought, well, we deserve it for playing poorly. I see lots of posts from people on here who I know have played a huge role in keeping this club where it is, giving their time and energy and heart and soul to make sure there is a club to follow at Arden Street, who have said their interest is waning, and they just can’t seem to muster the energy to give a **** anymore. I am the same (minus the involvement in Roosistence). I just care less and less. I am eager to see the development of guys like LDU and Simpkin and Thomas and Bailey and how guys like Polec and Hall fit into the side and whether Brown can kick some nice goals.

But if the result doesn’t go our way, I get on with my day, and go do something else. That doesn’t sit right with me, because I like caring about this club.

If Brad wants to keep trotting out the same “we’ll forensically review this one”, “come out breathing fire”, “the whole club is keen to atone” lines, that’s fine and that’s his prerogative. But he’s not going to lead this club to its next flag. He will not hoist the cup aloft. As SLF said a while back, he was the perfect man to lead the club in the wake of 2007, to develop a culture, to make sure North Melbourne stood for something again. And he has done that and made us relevant and given us identity. But for the love of the club, surely he must see that he cannot continue down this path. In terms of their contribution to the club, I value what Laidley did – weird tics and all – far beyond that of what Scott has contributed. Laids was there when we were on our knees, and he squeezed every last bit of talent and care factor out of the list. I firmly believe that were it not for Laidley, we would be playing on the Gold Coast. It is a symptom of how far I have lost patience with Scott that I would almost rather see Laidley coach LDU and Simpkin than I would Scott coach them. At least you know Laids would wring every last drop of talent out of the pair of them.

He must fall on his sword for the good of the club that he loves so much

Great analysis ol' mate.

I'm feeling exactly the same when we have a lead and get beaten nowadays too.. have a little laugh, shake my head a couple of times and say to myself "well that's the Roos for ya" then get on with my day. No feeling of throwing a brick through my TV like I used to when I knew that loss would come back to haunt us later in the season.

The numbness feeling nowadays is the emotional check out.. it's dangerous when you don't care anymore.

BS won't fall on his sword, he's still getting paid..

Those of us who aren't drinking the BS bathwater see us as either treading water or acgively going bakwards under BS.

They were right, we did have an average list the two years we made preliminary finals, however, we turned a lot of players with potential into average players and ended up having to play away PFs because we dropped too many games to donkey sides.

JB told Brad we could never get done like we did by West Coast in 2012 and we got done in the same manner by the Swans in 2014 and again by Adelaide in 2016. It was great how we came out against Eagles in 2015, not easy to win a PF on the road but the two teams we lost to in 2014/15 were comprehensively beaten by Hawthorn in the GF despite being well and truly into their decline.

The teams that finished bellow us in 2014:
Essendon (derailed by the drugs fiasco)
Richmond (flag in 2017)
West Coast (flag in 2018)
Adelaide (GF in 2017)
Collingwood (GF in 2018)
Gold Coast (new team)
Carlton (shithouse)
Bulldogs (flag in 2016)
Brisbane (shithouse but got their shit together finally)
GWS (new team)
Melbourne (was so bad AFL had to take over running them)
StKilda (recovering from Lyon dynasty)

It is not really acceptable for the board to have approved topping up what was a mediocre list into an average list and then falling on the, "well, look what we were able to do with an average list". Who takes responsibility for not building a proper side that is better than average? Everyone involved in that decision making process failed the club. The type of players retained, the kids that weren't properly developed because we were pushing for success with an average list, picking up average players in the 2018 pre-season is just more of the same. Preuss leaving because he couldn't get a game, Ahern not getting games now despite his form being magnitudes higher than many players getting a game right now.

Nobody in the media is putting the blowtorch to the club and they have been allowed to get away with making bad mistake after bad mistake. I don't have a problem with picking up players like Hall, Polec or Pittard nor do I blame the club for chasing talented players, however, our ability to build, develop and coach a team to success is fundamentally flawed and nobody has been held accountable for the numerous bad decisions being made or the poor execution. We are seeing the repercussions of our choices with numerous clubs that made the tough calls zooming past us while we remain average.

The weirdest thing for me is how do we explain the first half of last year? We played genuinely entertaining, 4 quarter high effort football for most of it. It was the most enjoyable stretch of footy I can remember in Brad's tenure. It seemed like as the year went on we went back to conservative ways, played more experienced players, and reverted to the old ways. So far 2019 is same old problems.

It isn't all bad - LDU, McKay, Bailey Scott and now TT are getting games. Polec is playing exactly how we would habe hoped. Hall was good for a lot of the game. These are things we would have been happy with at the start of the year.

But how have we gone back to such a low pressure team which is easy to score against? All that surprising good stuff from last year, where did you go? Come back!

I think this is the watershed year for Brad, it has to be. We either show new tricks, and soon, or it's time.
Wasnt the first half of last year jarrod waite’s golden run. He was unbelievable.

Laughable. :stern look

Ever sat in a job interview and been asked a question you can’t answer and you 100% know it, but you sort of throw a few words together and hope you sound vaguely smart? His entire press conference was a train wreck job interview, looked clueless and like he knew he was, but just hoped putting random words together would work. The funny thing is even when he was a crap coach a few years ago he could still spin in the media, whereas even that’s left him now.

At the 34 second mark Brad goes for the ear, I just googled body language shit and the result is mortifying!!

If he strokes his cheek with the back of his fingers, touches his ears, or rubs his chin, he is totally into you and may be thinking about kissing you or even having sex with you, since these are signs a man is attracted to you sexually.Mar 8, 2018

He wants to have sex with the interviewers, we just lost a ****ing game and he's all up for a root. Wild bloody Bill is the only one who has sex after a loss. He's got to go now!!

I was thinking exactly the same thing. The way he stumbled over words... the awkward responses. It was one of the first times I have seen him look like a dear in the headlight and a lightbulb went off in his head... “oh f**k, they’ve got me...my usual horses**t isn’t working”

You got to believe it to say it well. The best talkers are those that know their shit back to front... and those that have ego's so big they think they know their shit back to front (and usually anything else the topic turns to as well). Once it stops working on field, it's hard to believe you are in the know.

Good god spin central on 360.

Nearly spat out my tea when he said the last three goals in the game weren't the deciders.

Wtf is this **** on about. I spin bs for a living and jesus that was too cute by half.

Was it some sort of "we lost by 20 so those three don't make a difference" sort of spin attempt?

Zero accountability. I haven't even seen it and I can tell already its just a blame shifting interview.

Where's the ****ing apology to supporters and members for royally destroying our season TWO WEEKS in. Plenty of rounds to go and supporters have no hope to look forward to, no finals like we were told that was the goal.

You wait half a year for the new season to roll in and this is what happens, just like that. Its over, and nobody at the club is even acting like this isn't a bad thing. 'Oh nothing to see here, we'll be fine!'

Its not 'fine' when Lions supporters outnumber you AT A HOME GAME.

Was it some sort of "we lost by 20 so those three don't make a difference" sort of spin attempt?

Precisely. He went on to talk about rule changes and then admitted how poor we were at center bounce clearances. Admitted we got too far ahead ourselves which was good to see, but jeez mate, stop getting your sums wrong beforehand.
