Celebrated 5 time AA fullback rancey pants and nick Riewoldts brother didn’t have injuries either last year. I have always said Richmond was a finely balanced pile of shit ready to topple.....enjoy the slide back to irrelevance

They have had an incredibly charmed run with injuries.

The last two seasons they have played 49 games.

Key defender Rance played 49
Key forward Riewoldt played 47
Leading midfielders in Martin and Cotchin played 48 and 47 respectively
First choice (and only ruckman) in Nankervis played 47

All the structurally important players haven't missed a game basically.

Your hatred for Collingwood is blinding any chance of an unbiased opinion.

Btw, West Coast are a brilliant side and most of their fans are top blokes and pretty humble so my comment is directed at you alone.

What does my opinion of Collingwood have to do with Richmond?

So Whateley says on AFL360 tonight that Melbourne aren't ready (pre season injuries, etc.) and they're missing Hogan.

Where was all this commentary before the season started when they were second faves for the flag and every commentator in the country was all over them?

Hindsight heroes at its best...

Don't think anyone would have picked neither of these sides to be 2-0.

Saturday night is a big match but it's still just Round 3. Anyone who uses that result to extrapolate who will win the flag six months down the track is a fool.

We also played 49.

McGovern (24 + 24 = 48)
Kennedy (19 + 14 = 33)
Gaff (24 + 19 = 43)
Shuey (23 + 20 = 43)
Naitanui (0 + 15 = 15)

Yeo 48
Darling 44
Hurn 48

Hey now you just put a huge dampener on what a dozen football "experts" are going to spend Monday night doing.

Saturday night to determine my pick.
What a stupid call. The seasons of West Coast and Pies wont be determined by a round 3 match when both teams go into it 1-1.

There is some excessive early season overreactions going on here. Melbourne and Richmond are apparantly bottom 4 locks while Eagles and Pies are guaranteed GF replay this year.

It's a long year theres heaps of water to flow under the bridge.

In order it'll be
West Coast
Collingwood
Ruchmond
Melbourne

West Coast a good chance to go back to back in my opinion and wouldn't be shocked if it happened at all

The whole premise of the thread is to pick which team will finish higher.

Season's over for Richmond. Sorry, mate.

Collingwood
Richmond
West Coast
Melbourne

Richmond and West Coast are interchangeable to me on the H&A ladder. I think Collingwood finishes first of the 4 and Melbourne last of the 4.

There is a long way to go before I’d call it season over for Richmond. Yes, we got done by Collingwood, lost Rance for the season and lost Riewoldt for about a month. However, I believe that our struggle to adapt to these outs will only be for the early to middle rounds of the season. Dusty has a lot of scope to improve on his current output too.

To assess Richmond’s shot at the Premiership, we’d need to see how we go until the bye. If we are 8-5 or better, then we are still in with a good shot. If we are 5-8 or worse, then it’s probably over for our Premiership chances. Anything between these figures would be a wait and see.

It’ll likely be:
Collingwood
West Coast
Melbourne
Richmond

Richmond’s defence is bottom 4 material now without Rance.
I could agree with those ladder positions but Richmond actually have decent defenders even without Rance. It's not the best defense without him, but it's far from a bottom 4 one.

We just havent seen them as a unit for long enough yet. It was literally one game where the midfield was dominated. We barely laid a tackle.

Well Gary Lyon has given the star new recruit May a good slap around the head.

When asked how the defender turned up to pre-season, Lyon replied: “By his own admission, not in the best shape.

“He said he was adjusting to the training standards of the Melbourne Football Club and then proceeded to run last in the time trial.

“He now has a hamstring injury followed up by a groin injury. If he doesn’t turn up for the first training session of the pre-season of 2020 in absolutely ripping-cut nick, then Melbourne supporters will have every right to be disappointed in him and his professionalism.

“He’s come in underdone, hasn’t got the work in, he’s done a hamstring and now he’s done a groin. It’s soft tissue on the back of soft tissue.

“He needs to come in next year with his skinfolds looking as sharp as they’ve ever been, his running times as good as they’ve ever been so he can say that he won’t ever be surprised about the training standards of an AFL club ever again.”

I think Melbourne supporters would be pretty p!ssed off now never mind next preseason.

Nate Jones having some interruptions has hurt them too - heart and soul type players are more valuable than their stats sheet suggests.

I think it will be very tight between Collingwood and WCE this year. We play each other twice so if one side can get an away win I think they will finish higher
