Very harsh on you, you provide good value on here imo.
So do I, I’m elite.

On a serious note, I used to give Vader a fair bit for his opinions and he obviously didn’t like it.

It would be pretty hard for him to follow threads though given how much I post on here :)

FFS. Show me a single AFL player who isn't going to put his hand up for selection, even if he's had one leg and one arm amputated the week before.

If the selectors are dumb enough to fall for it, then the blame goes to them. But to blame Jacobs for putting his hand up, when every other player in the competition would have done exactly the same thing, is the height of stupidity.

Doesn't make it the right call. Put your hand up while your injured with the knowledge your gonna play piss poor footy and let the team down. It's just as much players fault as it is selectors fault. It's selfish. Allow a healthy player to come in and contribute to the team.

Didn’t he finish off high in our B&F, couldn’t have been too bad.

Last year the complaint was playing injured players and in Tex’s case with no preseason.

They seem to be ultra conservative with Greenwood’s fitness.
Yes - Greenwood was 6th in our B&F last year.

Or 15th on votes per game. In between Luke Brown and Rory Atkins.

Which is about where he sits in our team - good at what he does, but not indispensable.

Having now experienced a league where you can earn a home Grand Final, and players nominate which state they want to be drafted to - so they play with pride and passion for their town and there is connection to country - the men's game does not feel all that appealing.

In 2010, Alastair Clarkson was a hair from being sacked. He was under the pump. What happens to Hawthorn if the 2008 Grand Final was played at the cattery? The full impact of the structures in this league - how far they reach and how many organisations have waltzed through those sliding doors is hard to fathom.

Go Crows tonight? I guess?
How would the 'great' Hawthorn team be regarded if 2 of their three-peat GF's were played at Subiaco?

Your post is absolutely spot. We got our GF but it was 18 months late.

Our team would be decimated under a state nomination system, but the grand final should be played at the highest team's home ground

It is no coincidence that our talent pool turned anaemic the moment we gave up our heritage to join the VFL.

Give us a chance to invest in our own player development at grass roots? It would reinvigorate in the blink of an eye.

I think it would improve but I'd worry about us versus, say, West Coast with access to a higher population.

We need Jenkins forward as we are struggling to kick goals , I reckon hunter would play first ruck before JJ

Jenkins is currently a part of that problem. Not the solution.

That said, opting for Jenkins in the ruck would allow a Himmelberg/Fogarty who are both better contested marks then Josh which considering how little we've been leading for the ball, should help alleviate some scoring issues.

3 games? He’ll get 3 months before being subject to dropping.

Yup.

He's on a lot of money, too much money to see him even be in question for the axe unless the downturn of form is both long term, and sustained.

Nothing short of a rock, and a hard place that we find ourselves in. Of our making naturally.

It is not the players fault at all for putting their hand up, they're doing what is required to keep their head above water. It's entirely the selectors fault for trusting the player to make the right call.

Don't give someone the ability to put you in the unemployed line. Football is fickle enough as it is for a player.

Berg is in shocking touch, couldn't mark a beach ball last week.

I'm not against giving Fogarty a run, does he have the tank to play the Lynch role ??

If Jacobs is fit, he plays. It's not how it should be, but it's how it is. As soon as he is capabale of getting through a game, he'll be straight back in the 1's.
I'm not so sure about that. If ROB tears it up (which I doubt that he will, at least tonight), no way will the club throw Jacobs back in just because he's over this little hiccup. He's been labouring for far too long and the club knows this, hense the news last night about them chasing Grundy at seasons end.

To be fair on that comment, Lynch's role has changed since McGovern has left to try to fill that hole a bit more effectively (seeing Lynch would be forced into playing/operating deeper and playing as more of a classic third tall then weird hybrid). To the point Fogarty would be more effective in it right now, though, we're stuck with Lynchs contract so I'd be giving him a lot of time to figure it out. We lost that opportunity to effectively replace one with the other when we resigned Lynch to rather big money.

End of next season, Collingwood aren't going to let him go this year.

I could think of a very big reason they'd entertain it. Compensation.

Short term pain, long term gain. For an asset like Grundy where it's lose/lose, you're at least lessening that loss with getting the short term pain option over and done with early.

If O'Brien isn't immediately elite, I'd bet they will throw Jacobs straight back in even if he's horribly underdone

True, but that would only happen if he gave a hint. I see him as the type of guy that would like to play back here, but staying isn't an issue.

Would cost us pick 3 and then some. How ROB goes will play a big part in the urgency.

He's gonna get 4 weeks IMO.

Reading between the lines from Pyke, he wants to give him a good run at it too.

Well Grundy is pretty much in a win/win, he's either set for life here as the "star who came back", or as a star at the most well resourced club in the country.

Easily will cost us pick 1-3 and another first, and I don't see ROB really being a part of that conversation. Almost if you can get him, you do it kind of thing. Unless ROB is just a walk up AA or close to from the get go. That might change it.

Does anyone know his status (Grundy) at the end of this season? (RFA/FA). It could play a big part of how Collingwood will play their hand if a big offer is made by the Crows at seasons end.

We might see it as a "We have a very competent ruckman, let's stock up another area" type thing. That's if ROB is that guy.

I would love to get Brodie Grundy here and I'm glad we are on the front foot seemingly.

I guess I'm in the camp that believes ruckmen aren't the types you should pay your biggest wages to.

RFA next season.

The other thing with Collingwood is how much CAN they afford to pay him ?? It'll almost certainly be less than we could, is that enough of an incentive to get him out.

Where’s the story about Grundy coming from?
How certain are we that we can get it done?
Obviously we’ll be after him, but how sure are we that he’ll come back home?
