If geelong think freo will be better to deal with than the eagles they have rocks in their heads . If freo have a pick in the top 8 they wont use it on kelly . They have become very ruthless at the trade table
Not really seeing it.

We traded a bit recently. We probably took unders for Wilson in 2017, but there were circumstances and in the end Wilson was looked after by both clubs.

We got Fair value for Lobb I think.

I look at West Coasts lost and the players in there bottom few players and players just outside the 22 include jake waterman, Liam Duggan, Daniel venebles, jake petrucelle, Josh Gotham, Mathew Allen, Cole . You would suspect that a first round pick and one of the above players would be offered from west coast.

Josh Gotham sounds so much more badass!

This weeks rising star nominee.

Picked up with one of those "crappy 2nd round picks". Pick 38 no less.

You already know about another crappy 2nd rounder we picked up in that draft pick 26.

And IMO the one who will end up the pick of the 2017 draft for the Eagles the U18 Lark Medalist pick 21.

So much for crappy 2nd rounders!!!
Only one we want is Allen. The rest are pretty average.

Well that wont be happening either. Just signed his 2nd contract extension, is getting games and starting to show very promising signs. WA kid and an Eagles supporter growing up. Absolutely no reason for him to want to play anywhere else.

Cats could always draft the net Oscar Allen with one of those crappy 2nd rounders that are worthless though!!

Or the net Tim Kelly with another crappy 2nd rounder.

Or the next Sydney Stack with a even more useless 3rd rounder.

If Kelly goes to West Coast then your 1st round and a fringe best 22 is probably likely.

Geelong will only get value if Fremantle are in play.

Geelong will only get value if the players they draft with the picks they get are any good.

Fyfe was a 2nd rounder as well I recall.

Reece Conca went pick 6.

I see your very passionate about this conversation Obeanie1 . in your view at how TK is currently playing what do you think will be a fair trade

Cool, Tim Kelly is better than all 3

One fringe player isn't equal to another.

Allen/Brander > Nelson etc.
I don't think I will be any of those players. Nelson won't get a game for us in the foreseeable future. Allen and brander seem to be rated very highly internally.

Eagles 2019 1st plus their 2020 1st for Kelly and Cats 2020 2nd.

Feel that is about right for a quality player out of contract and who nominates the Eagles and only them.

Fair few Eagles fans wont be happy with that and a fair few Cats fans also will be unhappy. To me that indicates its about right.

I think that's a fair deal....

Thats very true... you could deliever two R1 picks to us in the top 10 ..us pick player that read like they are reasonable picks and still not work out .. like happened fro Collingwood in 2013 ..Sharrenberg and Freeman.

Even if we had got the pick..to use on the player we would have liked last year..still no Guarantees . but in spite the failure a club can have with early picks and successes a club can have with later picks... there will be very few clubs that will trade a star player and ask for a couple of R3 picks instead of two R1 picks. I think the odds of success stretch the further back in the draft has picks. And of course draft from year to year is different in strength.

How about we wait till the other three are 25 before putting all this to bed!

All three of them are better than Kelly at the same age.;)
Why wait? Do teams win premierships today because the teenagers on their list might be good in 6 years time?

Kelly only.

I think it will be picks unless you get Kelly and another big name (Martin or something etc) because then the cap pressure might force you to put players on the table in the trade. I think we will ask about Brander and Waterman but both seem settled and are contracted so unless they get fearful of lack of gametime i think you and they will say no. I cant really see any other players you would give up that we have a need for.

If you finish top 6 i would say your 2019 and 2020 R1s with us sending a R2 back i about fair, whether we get that or not i dont know.

The depth of last year's draft with value going deep into the second round was well predicted. Geelong not trading probably wasn't about the value of the trade being offered. They wanted Kelly so they could have the best chance of a premiership this season, and if that panned out, their best shot at keeping Kelly.

The Age podcast reporting that Tim Kelly's manager is touring the Fremantle FC facilities next week and seem open to them as an option of WC can't get the deal done.

I think the manager may have learnt a bit from last year's trade period and is only looking to leverage Geelong and WC into playing nice.

The emotional supporter in me wants nothing to do with Tim Kelly after last years trade period.

Understandable. But Tim Kelly has shown himself to be very professional with how he has performed this year when the trade couldn't be done. He would be a real good fit for the Fremantle midfield as well as an inside/outside mid.
