TL with the win today, confirms my thoughts that they are not that bad and that Hillside are on the slide.

Top 3 of CB, Tulla & EK already locked in. WM, WC, HS & TL fighting it out for a token finals appearance.
OP are RP only chance of avoiding relegation.

The only question is, how good are EK compared to the other contenders???
This season already looking not as competitive or open as previous years.
I'm happy to put a line through TL & Hillside as possible contenders now and Roxy are certainties to finish bottom.
CB & Tulla then as much as I want to put EK up there, I will wait until they play WM in Rnd 6, and if they beat them convincingly then it might change my mind.

My tips for what it's worth:

CB to destroy TL
Tulla to beat WC in close one
RP might be a sneaky chance against the Sharks. Hard to get a read on HS form (And I'm slightly biased obviously)

Hey it's your opinion. Just finding it hard to read the Sharks form. Big game against CB in a few wks
I feel for roxy clearly plenty of passionate people around and hope things go there way but i cant see any of the games this round being close. Sadly the division in comp is big this year.

Hillside v Roxy and if it was muddy or wet you wouldn’t tell who’s who..Roxy should be wearing an alternative strip as this is not good. EDFL need to become more professional.

How about Oak Park, Coburg Districts and Sunbury Kangaroos.

Hillside, Roxy, Moonee Valley

EDFL needs to get better.

Craigieburn used to wear an alternative strip against some clubs. Well done to them for implementing that..

Are Roxy and Hillside really that close? Any team on a really muddy day can be hard if it's bad enough. Thought I was looking like nostradamus watching the live scores with Roxy being in the game at 3/4 time. Looks like they ran out of legs again in the last.

No major surprises final scores this round, RP look to have been competitive for 3 qtrs which may have surprised a few.
Can they knock off OP next week at home and get themselves off the bottom of the ladder??

Tulla put on their best performance of the first 3 rnds and really confirmed the gap between the top 3 and the rest.

Roxy will find it very difficult to win game this year not much depth in 2s and no 19 few injuries and will be in big trouble in later part year they have gone last year to having 80 blokes at training to 8 blokes in 2s and 19s full credit though they gave hillside great run for there money .

Oak Park v Roxy interesting game this week.

Hillside not as strong as previous years and going for youth and development rather than heavy recruiting and paying big $$ like some other clubs. Don’t have a problem with that as long as there is a future plan as they do have the base to build from within. HS Under 19s playing premier so that’s a positive for future development. Big plus for HS..

Ek:
Wow, they have stars on every line Grabowski hill and calluzi dominated from start to finish and I think they’ll give cburn a real run for their money
Coach is an old fashioned coach who only wants the best for his players and the club wonder if points will be an issue come finals

Young ruckman/KPF hasn't debuted yet either.

I do feel for Roxy, but they will be more competitive against some other teams Im sure. They had a crack, especially early. However while they might be struggling to compete financially it would help if they raised their fitness levels across the board,THIS COSTS NOTHING. Too many beefys Im afraid! Second half showed that.

Think we know who the beefys were last year too lol!

The points will be a juggling act for EK but with so many one pointers, Hill, Arrowsmith, Madden, Vanderbyl, young gun Cooper Perry and the return of Ben Caluzzi ( he should play some VFL games with North Blues though) they are in a good place. Mitchell Celantano played well too in his first senior game last game, also one pointer. Reserves are strong also so the club is in a great position.
All Credit to new coach , he is backing up strong words with the way they have performed first two games. Fast, accurate ball movement . Rock solid defence that rebounds and transitions with awesome efficiency and speed. Multiple dangerous forward options that also fight hard to keep it in. And an on ball brigade that dominate clearances and hit the scoreboard. They are very good to watch.
Hillside will feel the brunt of this exciting new team this week and as I stated pre season show the division they are the side to beat.

G’day havego. Exciting times at EK. If they do really well in this division and win it will they carry it on in premier div? Do they have plans to be ultra competitive in premier. It’s nice to win a flag from a dominant season but not be cellar dwellers the year after. I hope they would be more than competitive as the club looks to have quite a few young guys, be a shame not to take it another step. Building on a base of youth with plans to remain competitive in the higher div is a good way to go about it for longer term, but you need to be competitive to keep young guys motivated. Just my take.

They would need to recruit a few guns in the key positions and ruck to make a good impact in premier.

Some of the youngsters are impressive Perry, Caluzzi, Pettigrove, Celentano, Pickering.

Long season so wouldn’t be getting carried away yet.

Ek would have to be favourites now I’d say...
Although the eagles weren’t great at Taylor’s lakes after quarter time ek beat them by over 100 points..
Definitely a long season..

Hasn't Hillside be the team that was young and up and coming for the past 5-6 years?? Back then the HS Under 18/19's were the premiers and they talked up all these young players that they had coming through. And what have they achieved in that time? 1 maybe 2 finals appearances?

I am yet to see HS play this year but I wouldn't imagine the average age of the team would be that far off from the rest of the competition.

Please don’t tell me East Keilor had some senior and reserve players playing 3rds footy on the weekend as the seniors had a bye. I seen a couple of familiar names plus big Jimmy Phillpot. If true that’s a joke seriously as 3rds footy was not introduced for that reason..

Can’t wait for a reply from the big footy followers...

Hillside did the same thing to Craigieburn a couple weeks ago turbo when they had the bye. Lots of familiar faces running around for Hillside. Agree i dont like it.

Most of those good young guys, Volpato, Bertollo, Colleta, Pulitano, Psaila and to a lesser extent L. Raynor would all be coming up to 22 years of age this year. With that group they played finals in 18, 17, missed by % in 16, and were 8th in 2015 when those guys would've been 18.

2 finals appearances in 4 years is acceptable I would've thought.

Lots of non thirds players.... that’s not good for the thirds comp... don’t mind players playing if they’re short on numbers but they must’ve dropped thirds players for these guys.

15 guys didn’t play from the round 2 team against Keilor.

Is winning round 3 by 120 points really that important?

if there was no bye this would not of happened. I see no problem in the 2s players particularly a player trying to break into the ones playing the only game available to them for this week. It is only time the senior coach can watch them for a whole game and an opportunity for players to impress. Plus a player wanting to improve his fitness, all positives that could be gotten out of this and I doubt if the regular thirds players would be worried by what will only happen once or twice as it is what's best for the club. Winning was not what was important.

I don’t like it as I see at least 2 senior players who played rd2 seniors v Roxy play 3rds during the bye weekend. Cooper Perry kicked 6. That’s a joke mate seriously..
