thats an us issue, not a WTO one. thats shitty local laws allowing those re-exports to go unregulated

nothing to do with the WTO, all to do with us
The whole frame of reference is that we can’t take action against Chinese bad behaviour because that would lead to China treating us badly in trade deals, which is exactly the situation we were in initially.

They may, although I hope its relationship with other countries is strained after all of this. They might find some reluctant to do business. Then a aim, perhaps not.
Nah. If they threaten to stop buying our stuff, we’ll be back in our box like good little kitties. Farming, mining, what else do we have precisely.

Oh yeah, tourism...

bullshit

they exported a bunch of med supplies. that needs documentation, and the fact they did it as a property developer shows they needed SFA documentation

thats an us issue, we never thought someone would re-export stuff like that which we imported because of cost.

not everything is a conspiracy against the white peoples by the evil non-whites

Of course the resident CCP apologist frames it in terms of race. The goto for Chinese operatives!

Mate you are better than this. Australia has won several landmark WTO cases before specially against India. If Australia decides to tax Chinese goods, * me that would be the dumbest thing ever, consider half our exports end up in China.

WTO DOES not micro manage but only exists as a dispute resolution body in this case.

im apologising for nothing. weak regulation is weak regulation

this isnt a WTO issue. this isnt a conspiracy against your master race. this isnt even illegal.

this is just a situation our govt never anticipated because (1) we make SFA med devices, and (2) we pay a mint to import them

No, we should encourage US to nuke China. That’s the only thing they understand, being subjugated.

Pretty much sums up the approach that has underpinned our relationships with China, the US and the UK for the last 120 years. We're a nation of sycophants destined to spend the rest of our lives on our knees.

We truly are a minnow nation, not in practice but in nature.

“If we stop sucking Chinese utensil they might slap us around a little!”

We absolute are, this is why if China decides to violate FTA's we need a dispute resolution body, do you think US is gonna come and help us?

Seems to me the government needs to consider what and how much essential items it needs to keep in stock.

I don’t think we’re on our knees, but we just need to be realistic. There is only one nation on Earth that (disgracefully) punches above its weight despite being roughly our size, and thats’s the odious Saudis. The demands of global capital and geopolitics will always win out. The former particularly after were all broke-arse after this.

No point railing against it. It is what it is.

China is not an honest broker and should be treated as such. We should crush them.

Never said they are, US won 2 judgements against them last year worth billions of dollars. US arent exactly fair either.

Maybe the Oz government growing a spine can be a good start.

China is not going to ban all imports from Australia over something as simple as not letting daigou operate virtually unfettered as they do now. In fact, China regulates these people far more closely than we do, because China actually specifically taxes them and licences them whereas the limits of our attempts to control the problem is putting up a few paper signs in shops saying two cans of formula per person.

Again, we're the only ones in the south east asian/oceania region (considering only countries who matter obviously) that have no desire to make a stand for our own interests, possibly excepting NZ.
