Freo really can't afford to lose a productive forward.

That's true, but they need to find one in order to lose one. Freo's revolving door policy seems to work very well, every year there's a queue of players lining up to escape. In-house I believe their retention program is called the Sieve.

To be fair, we get f/s options from more than just one club (unlike VFL), but they do need to hit the higher thresholds.

Having said that it's almost irellevant now, if an 18 year old debuted for us in 1987, they'd be 54 now, their kids would be of the age where drafting would come into play. There will never be a f/s from an ex-WAFL player now.

Should just retire. I don't think I've heard a player at his age so desperate to play another year he would actually go to another club. His at the age that any contract is a good one. I don't get it from his perspective. Does he know how old he is.

He kicked 49 goals and had 18 goal assists.

He's certainly worth more than a crap sandwich. If Geelong don't want to pay that's one thing, but he's within his rights to demand a decent pay packet for 1 year.

Reduces player wastage in your coop and allows Lions, Bulldogs, Pies, Blues and Saints very easy access to get a feed when needed.

Quite possibly yes…

The counter argument is we have quite a few who are content and on easy street - why leave for similar $ and have to work harder or be on the scrapheap in a few years.


In some ways getting the trade requests next year (after a season of pressure on their performance) would be a good thing (them just working harder and wanting success would be a better result of course!)

Likewise Henry.

Likewise Rory last year after Cockburn made him stay, he repaid them by having a career best season to bump his value.


Cockburn been kissed on the peen when it comes to thei timing around their constant exodus. Be interesting to see if Feathers the stupid kent holds Schulz to his contract like he did Lobb, or if he cashes in on his "increased worth".

Had Schultz wanted a move at the end of 2024, he could've walked to
@CollingwoodFC
, and
@freodockers
would've received healthy FA compensation. Going a year early means a trade must be facilitated - can expect price to be high, if it gets done.
