Effort. I know they kicked ahead late to get 15 points up but I was not expecting us to maintain the rage for the whole game. We even kicked the last gone to reduce the margin and kept pressing even though a win was out of reach by that point.

Not much of an Old Testament scholar but I understand the need for the Book of Job(e).

Good to see Oscar and Harley as well as Gov/Sheed all there. The way the media talk Harley would be home with his feet up in Tongala and Oscar hiding from public view.

Where was that in the other 20 games? We haven't maintained that sort of pressure in any game for a long time. Even when we were good we weren't a high pressure team.

Disappointing to be undone by a couple of poor turnovers late. Bazzo is hardly a senior player but what the **** was that kick that led to Rankine's goal? And Thilthorpe's kick off the ground near the end. FFS that should've been a rushed behind. With 25 players within 10m of goal it is under pressure.

Just once can we get a good run with the umpires in a close one? Feels like every game that we're in the umpiring is at best 50/50. Hardly screwed all game but a few missed holding the ball calls, Hough clearly held out of a contest trying to help Ginbey in a 1 on 1 vs Thilthorpe etc. in key moments were annoying. We're near the bottom of the ladder for frees for and near the top of the ladder for frees against. Just give us an armchair ride once. Go on. For the life of me cannot figure out what is and isn't a "block" - and we benefited from that too.

Has been going on for a while around the league. Players saw that they were cracking down on dangerous tackles so learned that once their shoulder hits, just lay your head down too and make it look like you’re cooked. Free kick.

Not unique to Soligo, it’s the new league wide blight like the huge arm pump/ducks, again a few of which we saw yesterday on either side.
Just introduce a mandatory 10 minute assessment whenever the player indicates head high contact in a dangerous tackle free kick. Would cut that shit out quick smart.

I was honestly quite doom and gloom about this season in general, but after watching the replay you can definitely see what we want to achieve as a team.

Lots of positive moments that have already been mentioned.
I'm excited for players like Shanahan (have been since his debut that i got to attend) going forward (especially with our other tall being Waterman again).

As bad as this year has been we've shown we can take it to the top teams, and that what the club is going for can work out.

Another loss for the tally but i think it could only be up from this year.

Positive: shows what can happen when (on average) the senior players are better thus giving the juniors confidence and support.

Negative: where has this been for much of the season?

One negative,

Chess opting to bump Fogarty in the last instead of tackling.

Don't want to be too harsh on Chess, but that was the soft option. He really needed to wrap him up in a big tackle.
Yeah I thought that too as soon as he elected to bump. I wasn't 100% sure who it was until the replay and then saw it was Chesser and thought he probably would've just bounced off regardless (as most would against a rampaging Fogarty). Think Schofield said something similar. Still should've attempted a tackle though.

Positives

  • Apparently if you bet 20 bucks on the first goal scorer and they are a sub you get your money back as a refund
  • Hamish Davis tackling pressure. For me he has a spot as a defensive forward in the mould of Beau McCreery
  • Tim Kelly’s return to providing effort
  • Defense as a whole but particularly Ginbey who’s cleaned up his disposal in last few weeks. Hough also looked more attacking after his return from the midfield
  • Chessers defensive pressure. He played a big role in slowing attacks
  • Tom McCarthy in general. A gem
  • Sandy Brock having more confidence to go for the marks. His best game for the club

Negatives

  • Flynn’s tapwork. Just atrocious
  • Gross inability to play half forward. He was lost as lost could be in that spot
  • Shithouse umpiring

Just dropping by to say well done, that was a very solid performance yesterday. What most of us Crows fans are asking is where has that been all year as that kind of footy would trouble anyone - fast ball movement, daring play and high pressure. We were lucky to come away with the win. Keep playing like that and get a few players back, some great picks in this draft and you won't be down the bottom for too long. I'll see myself out.

Heh, I bet it was worded more like "Why the **** did these useless pricks decide to pull their one and only decent game out of their arse all year against us!?"

Well, I kept thinking, they won;t be able to maintain it in the second half, then at 3/4 time, well they will drop off in the last...then 5 mins to go thinking...hurry up and drop off FFS. Ginbey impressed though, held Thilthorpe well (he still took some good contested marks but certainly didn't get off the leash). It really was some individual efforts that got us over the line, Rankine's second half was super but it had to be.

I remember that feeling 😂

Positive:

TMac had his “Hutch Rd24 2024 vs Geelong” game.

Hopefully he has a big preseason and locks in next year. At the same time I hope we are able to adequately develop him…

Good luck in the finals. I know that of the teams that will be there Adelaide are the team i will be barracking for.

Some poor decisions towards the end of the game from a lot of players, that was one for sure that stood out due to the goal being kicked.

After that he and Ginbey were outmuscled on a ground ball that Thilthorpe kicked a goal from. No idea how we didn't win it out but at least he had some good signs early.

Not sure if he was a victim of our ball movement disappearing into "bang it long" towards the end of the game or if his own movement was not as good to find space.

Let him play the rest of the season.

He isn't the only one who would love his time over again. Players trying to kick across the ground instead of forward. Flynn and i can't remember who else.if it comes off it's great but if you don't get it right it creates chaos.

Ginbey was a flipping beast but long term you really don’t want him playing key position and on the monsters. It’s actually a wake up call for Bazzo and Brock. Both lads need to hit the gym over the off season

Negative - umpiring inconsistency.

Watching the replay now and I’m amazed at how many HTB calls the Crows got away with.

Berry just charged at Kelly on our half forward line, took on the tackle got pinned. Ball up.

ANB had an age with ball in hand, got tackled by Davis ball hits the ground and just called play on.

Dawson takes a bounce while Hewett had a grab of his jumper. Play on.

That’s the just first quarter alone. From memory there were a few more dubious ones during the game.

We’ve been absolutely trash all year but the umps certainly haven’t gone out of their way to make it any easier this year that’s for sure.
