Half the team is not good enough and the other half chooses when to go and give effort

Barring a few players like ginbey and baker. Maybe Graham.
Edit: Hough, Hewett as well.

Even in our worst years under ken judge and woosha it was never this bad. At least we looked like an AFL team at times.

We are an embarrassment to the eagles of yesteryear, to the AFL and the football in general.

What's worse is the players who are particularly shit like cole and owies are given games because they have played more than 50 games and seemingly the experience factor is supposed to count for something.

The coach is new as well so he's second guessing his decisions and after admitting he got it wrong with the gross sub he's done it again to Newton.

Question marks over him as well and his ability to coach. I don't think a new coach should be thrown into such a shit side.
He has to work out in a normal situation if he can coach or not but who the **** knows if he can given everything and anything that can go wrong, has and is going wrong and all the bad decisions that could've been made, were and are coming home to roost.

"Basket case" "no hope" and "not even worth it" are terms describing this team.
Opposition teams don't even question if they can beat us...it's a fait accompli before we even start the game.

The only positive out of this game is ginbey and baker.

All the rest is just not even worth mentioning

I feel for Newton coming in to such a debacle of a team.

Will waterman, reid, yeo coming back in make a difference next year? Maybe.


Will whoever we draft make a difference, who the **** knows.
Will whoever we trade for make a difference? It would have to be 15 competent AFL players to make a difference to this side.

What I do know is this team is quite possibly 5 years away from being competitive again on current ability and effort.

• Out of a young rebuilding team the whole spine (HEdwards, Gov, Yeo, Oscar, Waterman, Plus Skipper Duggan and Harley.) while a top 4 list had 1 out Weightman. (Treloar played VFL)
• Watching it, it didn’t feel like a 90+ pt loss, more a 60pt loss.
• they just move the ball so much better once they got it out of the pressure. When we got on top a little we just didn’t convert. While they kicked straight after the first quarter.

• I didn’t mind Long’s game.

-McCarthy and Shanahan are elite finds in a back half of the season.

Agree if everything except i think hewey been nothing but positive this year. If you told me that his output and games played would be what he’s produced before the year started , I would have signed it quicker then Matty Clarke would sign an owies extension.

expectations of him playing so much mid mins and getting 20+ every week were always unrealistic. I don’t see the question marks on his midfield potential like others do personally.

Losing culture has well and truely ingrained itself in the club.
4 years of complete uncompetitiveness
5 consecutive WAFL wooden spoons
The AFLW team showing nothing in their existence (maybe turning )

Fans going to games week in week out expecting a loss, and not just small losses either.
Posters on this board suggesting lossing this week is better because it affects the Hawks.

Clubs cooked.
This pre season is going to be bloody important for the club to nail in all aspects.
We need a serious circuit breaker and basically a complete restart

I think it's conclusive that B Williams is not and never will be good at football. The sooner we get a young ruck to develop the better.

Positives - really liked Maric, Hewett and Ginbeys games. Great effort from those three.

Done for size and experience pluss some class. Slow start buy after 5-10 minutes kept up the pressure to the end. Disposal was a weakness as was the usual delivering into the forward line. A spine of kids effectively agaisnt a tea largely at full strength that has blow their real ladder position as 4-6 through 'bad days'. Scored heavily against through soft ebploitation of our inexperience and lack of pace.

If he’s not on our list next year but players like owies are, then I don’t know what we are doing as a club.

Chesser with so many years on our list and finally injury free should be flying by now if he's AFL quality. Just isn't.

Today definitely wasn’t an effort thing but it was our garbage bottom end players and so called leaders again just phoning it in and being sloppy and not competitive… Cole getting another contract after missing that handball today is the ultimate insult.

Yeah there was a clear big gap between the sides. IMO it’s a lot less this year than last which is weird thing to say after a 1 win season and 90pt defeat.

You take out those player equivalents from the Dogs and put ours back in it would make a huge difference. Just lacked class and experience today. Those things should come via top draft picks and experience

Yeah loved his output but imo still not locked as an afl mid or the fwd/mid. Huge season for Hewett to get through and have the output he did. Nearly dragged us over the line in games.

Wasn’t witches hat stuff for most part was just a gap in class. 1 part of that is where the 2 current list builds are and 2 the players those teams also had out.

Honestly I think the Oscar Allen saga has affected the playing group more than we know

Half the group I reckon are pissed the club hasn't valued Oscar while the other half are pissed with him being captain looking for a trade barely into the season.

Its really hurt us and still continuing

Was a Meh game but not a total loss.

It’s funny, the last four years we have won more games than this year each year but this year actually was the start I think of the way back… some players are actually developing, we have got a game style that’s being ingrained in the players and we have not had a 100 pointer (touch wood) loss… combine that and some garbage injuries to our most important players and we have escaped not totally destitute at least.

Would have loved gross to get more midfield time, Edwards has improved, sandy Brock looks someone to work with, shanahan is our next full forward jet, hewetts really had his first year. Reid will get better, McCarthy looks the goods, ginbey will be better when not a key back… there are signs and those signs really show up the garbage of Duggan, cole, Kelly, Williams Owies, Cripps and Ryan . If the club had guts they would chuck them all out.
