The move back to Vic looking more solid

I'd be surprised if he even plays this weekend, that's probably the only thing worth discussing on here.

MIL gone is actually a reason to stay put longer term. AFL is so insular. It will be the undoing of the code ultimately imoo.Or on the contrary, the club showing him good faith in allowing him time to be with "family" in a time of need. People are like bloody vultures, the smallest sign of something and all over this crap.
The good thing about Young is that he can play forward so we can rest him there if needed. If we make the finals we get a week off, just go all in.I’d start Young and make Nat sub still. Young was back to full fitness only a couple of weeks ago
It’ll probably depend how the midfield battle is going. We can’t have even one of Caleb and Andy quiet. The good thing about Young is that he can play forward so we can rest him there if needed. If we make the finals we get a week off, just go all in.
Wagner needs to be ready to play a full game. If not then Simpson in.
Young in for NOD.
Fyfe the sub.
I actually expect him to have a cracking game now. No better way to honour someoneReckon Jackson will want to play. Best way to get bad stuff out of your system, is doing what you love.
Yeah, I don't think losing a family member and heading interstate early to grieve is the sign of a player who wants to leave. The move back to Vic looking more solid
Thanks for the reply i'd much prefer the high press game and force the backmen to kick to a contest. I sit behind the goals at the perth end, top level and it looks to easy for the opposition to move the ball from our forward line.I can kinda see what they are trying to do with it though.
I feel they don’t so much as allow the short kick, as allow the opposition to move the ball to a position where we want a turn over to happen or create a contest or marking opportunity.
JL is conservative, he doesn’t want to press up hard as that exposes the backline. I think we allow the opposition to come forward to a point then look to create a turn over then, and try to get it going the other way.
The problem with this is the other team is also set, as they have been able to chip it around, so sometime we get through on the counter, and sometime we have to hold up as the other defence is organised.
The problem I see with this conservative approach is it puts a lot of pressure on the backline and defensive running of the mids and high half forward.
I’d like to see a high press game with lot of forward pressure, but I don’t think we pick a team for that.
None of our smalls fwds a lightning quick, we pick 3 key forwards, who while quick for their size are not really pressure forwards.
Our half forwards are not pressuring, but guarding space and looking to get involved in the transition following a turnover.
Our mids are strong two way runners with above average contest game.
Our backline relies heavily on team D, and are generally hopeless with one on one defending.
I think the game plan is reflective of a conservative coach implementing a plan based on what he has.
I would call JLs plan the cautious slingshot
Wagner shouldn't need managed minutes, he is two games in now.How do we manage the minutes of Young, Fyfe and Wagner?
Hopefully Wagner can play close to full minutes, and then we just need 1 game out of Fyfe and Young assuming no injuries.
I want Nat in centre bounce at the start, therefore play Young at Half back.I’d start Young and make Nat sub still. Young was back to full fitness only a couple of weeks ago
I don't think Nat can handle the pace if he starts, like happened last time he started. It's too much of a risk. Young will be rotating forward. He's usually good for a couple of goals a game and we need that.I want Nat in centre bounce at the start, therefore play Young at Half back.
