2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

Latest talk is pretty positive on that front, seems pretty happy to move to Perth. Harley seems to be liking all his social media atm, rumour is he’ll move in with him.

Have heard that too. Both would be OOC end of 2028. We’d want to get a big FA haul in 2027 trade period and have all our pieces by then to be pushing finals.

Thought we might wait to see what happens with Curnow and a potential influx of ancillary assets at the Blues for Chesser - likely to be last minute and potentially force their hand to pay slightly more than originally projected.

Small potatoes either way - if we can work Chesser into receiving Tyler Young then we are probably walking away happy enough.

Still a shame to lose Chesser though - he must really be keen for a fresh start at home.

Reidy isn't that good but he is better than what we are currently rolling out .

I think Flynn has hit his ceiling. Maybe if he has a uninterrupted pre season he could improve.

Bailey is now 25 years and coming up to 100 games . He needs to stand up and be the man . He just gets pushed off the ball way too easily around the ground .
Reidy played the 1st game of the year, was poor and was not sighted since even though Darcy didn't play till round 5.
He then got traded with pick 53 and 71 for 50 and 68. Two 3 pick upgrades at the back of the draft does not sound like the Dockers cared much for his talents!

Who is ranked 2nd best?

Could throw a blanket over 6 players.

And we have several Melbourne clubs very keen on CDT. They will pay a premium to jump ahead.
I think you are possibly answering your own question there.

CDT isn’t popular in here and i understand the hesitation with blokes that are 200+cm going early in the draft. His talent is undeniable however. Quick, big tank, strong in the air and contested ball in general, good kick of the footy and actually links up well in general play and makes decent decisions.

I think if the Eagles rate him as the best or second best prospect in the draft we should take him. Don’t split the pick in that case.

Tim Watson on SEN this morning saying how ridiculous it is the AFL have given us pick 2 for someone like Oscar Allen and how it’s ’assistance’.

Gary Lyon then explains to him how the free agency compo system actually works and he goes “oh, I didn’t know that”

😂

This will no doubt change but right now this is what I hope happens:

• Picks 38 and 53 for Young and Richmond F3
• Ryan for St Kilda F2
• Chesser and Richmond F3 for Carlton F2 and F3
• Picks 2 and 13 for picks 5 and 6 from Essendon

Go to draft with 1,5,6,34,58,80

1: Duursma
5: Sharp
6: Cumming (or Schubert)
34: Williams (if there’s a bid) or best available
58: Williams or Banfield
80: Banfield or Evans

There’s a possibility we miss out on Evans if we use pick 34 on a live draft pick

For that to happen we need 6 main list spots available - if Hutchinson and Maric have both been upgraded we would only have 4 so Cripps and one other need to be moved to the rookie list

Right now main list spots and how we juggle potential NGA bids are an issue without any insight into what the club’s plans are

Whatever we get for Chesser will likely go straight to Richmond for Tylar Young. That’s why all the reports from Cal and friends are worded along the lines of “the Eagles have a plan in place and Tigers are happy with it”

It’s amazing people listen to this crap.

22 and 41 for Chesser and 34.

Values Chesser at about 27.

Bundle 22 and 12 for pick 6.

And a promise not to bid on dean

If we could get GC to throw Pick 52 in as well i think this would be a very good deal for all parties.

Give us an extra pick, Gold Coast still net 180 points for the trade but have two reasonably low picks to flip again for more points.

Go to the draft with 1,2,7 & whatever we have left from 38,52,53 & 58 after Tyler Young trade.

This would give the Suns 3892 points from 13,15,18, & 36.

Uwland bidded on at Pick 3 after discount costs them 1961 points.
Patterson bidded on at Pick 4 after discounts costs them 1766 points.
Adensall bidded on a Pick 26 after discounts costs them 505 points.

4232 points - 3892 points = 340 points.

Surely they'll be able to make up 340 points by splitting 13, 15 and 18 again.

Id be inclined to take CDT with pick 2 to further stick the dagger in essendon

CDT is being underrated on this board.

196/200cm is the standard KPF height going fwd.

I like JW, but has the agility of a tank and we can do better.

Two mobile developing KPF's Shannas/CDT would set us up very nicely.

If CDT can't kick then he clearly has the athleticism to go with the mobile KPF's like the Kings' which we can't cover long term without (maybe) Archer Reid moving back.

Blicavs for the Cats is not elite, but a game influencer by being a mobile 198cm ultimate swingman = maybe CDT could be our Blicavs?

Shanna's, CDT & Archer Reid would be sweet and sets us up.

Have 3 good 1sts now, so we can absolutely afford to take CDT (and should).

For whatever reason this is how I understood the bid matching process would work. But someone, and I forget who, posted up part of the AFL article announcing the new changes which specifically says from pick 37 onwards bids can be matched with the next selection. There’s no mention of a connection to the end of R2. See below

View attachment 2450645

That’s from the AFL article back in August 2024 explaining the changes so I can only assume it’s correct

Unless clubs like Brisbane and Gold Coast, maybe Carlton as well, start using late R1 picks to match then pick 37 is going to be a relatively early R2 pick since R1 likely blow out into the low thirties - it’s already at 23
You would think all of Annabelle Undwin patterson Dean King addnsall sweid Murray and Carmichael all bid on before 30 .

That takes it up to 30-32 depending on where picks are located
