That's true but our 3 possibly in the 20s plus one of their own and pick 10 this year and most likely pick eight or ten next year you start to bundle some of that into earlier picks and there is light at the end of the tunnel for Carlton.I'm betting Wells and Mackie would work magic with a hand like that in their position.
As much as I don’t like the idea, it looks as if trading a player (maybe SDK) and getting a first rounder back is probably the only way.

I'd pass on Marshall in that case. Don't want to trade Sam De Koning, and if that means grabbing someone cheap like Goldy or Teakle to paper over the cracks until Conway and Edwards come good, then so be it.
And still my favourites:
i) that everyone in the industry knew that Rowell would be leaving GC this time last year
ii) ROB in (2022, 2023) because Stanley was 100% retiring.

Bit hard if they aren't trading future picks anymore, and their first pick in this year's draft is #50.
IMO the most obvious deal that works for both parties is:
2025 first + 2026 2nd
for
Marshall + 2026 3rd or 4th.
Gets them back into this year's draft, gives them a F2 to bring in Aleer before they burn their bridges with GWS/player agends forever, gets Marshall off their books and values Marshall at more than a first.
They could legitimately say they got a first rounder and a B22 player (Aleer) for a 30 year old now backup ruck.

There's no point getting Goldy or Teakle. There's no conceivable situation where they get a game for us. We'd ruck Neale or SDK or Blicavs as our number 1 before either of them.
To ask the obvious question: would SDK actually want to go? I mean, brotherly love and all that, but...
Plus I foresee SDK and Connor O'Sullivan as being very much FB and CHB at this club for the next decade. As the Dogs have found out, good KPDs aren't that easy to find.
I'm with you. It reeks of a Casemeiro signing for United just after the peak of his powers, playing really well the first year and then lumping the club with a monolith of a contract for the next few years (in Geelong's case a mix of decent contract and no draft picks)

Except it says they're not trading future picks, so that would mean no future picks coming back if SDK went to St Kilda
More likely that they'd be interested in a future pick from us - but how do we convince them to make it a future second rather than a future first

I'd still have a crack at Mason Cox one year contract with no center bounce he wins 90 percent of center throw ups is aggressive at ground ball more than handy get out target down the line in the air and handy drifting forward,just have to pray he'd look better in the blue and white hoops.

Sure, but Cameron was out of contract.
I think people also forget that Cameron wasn't coming off a great set of seasons. His previous four years were basically two ok years (45 and 46 goals), then one great season (76) and a shocking COVID year. There were real questions about whether that 2019 year was a one-off, especially after he didn't exactly pull up trees in his first year at Geelong.

Conway highly unlikely. Edwards more than a year or two off in bulk/size and experience. So where does that leave it. Need more than one year that Goldy would provide
Sounds like St Kilda have had some board intervention in the last 24 hours and are coming in over the top of the list management people to call the shots.
The Leek Aleer backflip is a terrible look for a club trying to make itself out to be a destination of choice.
The Rohan Marshall situation also appears to have been flipped in the last 24 hours as a result of the board intervention. Hard not to draw a link between that, and the supposed change of position in now not supporting a trade. As of Monday I was told that this was still happening and that the back and forwards was over St Kilda wanting next years first rather than this years first from Geelong.
I still think this is a bit of by play between both parties and I can't see Marshall staying at St Kilda. And no coincidence this latest move by St Kilda, also happens to come out straight after Geelong are reported to have offered 3x first rounders for Curnow. This is a game of brinkmanship and I reckon a lot still to play out.
Mackie effectively saying to St Kilda, you're wasting our time. Take this years first and trade Marshall, or we're happy to throw it at Carlton as part of a trade for Curnow.
The overriding fact for me remains that Marshall didn't just come out and say he wanted to leave - he came out and nominated Geelong. That generally doesn't happen unless you and your manager are well progressed in getting that wish to come to fruition.

Remarkable when you think about it
I'm more optimistic about Toby Conway. He's looked good when he's actually been able to get on the park, even at AFL level.
