It isn't costing that much this year, or next year.
Not even this financial year or next financial year.
You'd know that if you'd read what you linked.

See, it's not the cost you have an issue with. It's the cause.

It could be $2 billion, or $2 thousand, and you'd still find an excuse to oppose it.

Even if it was $70 million this year. That's what, $1000 per First Nations people in Victoria?
You don't care. You're just pushing hateful rhetoric against groups of people you hate.
“This states there will be $3 million in 2025/26 and $23.8 million in 2026/27 to set up the body. It will then receive $71 million in 2027/28 and $72.1 million in 2028/29 for its initial operation, rising by 2.5 per cent annually thereafter.”

It’s an ongoing 70 million dollar cost from 2027 until what? Forever.

Governments spend that sort of money everyday on all sorts of projects without even thinking and it's crickets. That spend goes toward Aboriginal Australia and all of a sudden it's wasteful and divisive, why is that?

The govt gives ~60 billion a year in franking credits to people who don't pay tax. I think there are bigger fish to fry.

If Santos paid their fair share of tax, we'd have well over the 70 mill talked about here.

$70 million a year would fund the CFAs fleet replacement that is in desperate need, but the government can only find $10 million a year in their budget for it…Good to see they’ve found some more money, maybe other organisations will be able to benefit.

Lucky we don’t have bad fire seasons in Victoria.

Why, if everything is "spiralling out of control" are things barely changing?

Economic indicators are about the same as every other state.

Crime is less in Victoria than most other states.

There are so many problems with the Government and all the Libs are going to do is dust off the same two tired arguments:

"Spiralling crime waves"
"Debt and Deficit disaster"

One day these two things might actually become a problem but the Liberals and their supporters at 3AW and the Hun have cried wolf so many times that they've made the ALP immune to these attacks.

If you're going to roll out the same tired attacks, you're going to have to explain why they're worse now than for the last 10 years while you've all been saying the exact same thing and the ALP keep getting voted in and the sky hasn't collapsed under all the debt and criminals yet.

You don’t think the states debt and crime is an issue?

Do you expect the representatives, electoral officials and legal advisors all to work for free or something? The state pays lots of money to run parliament and general elections too, but that isn't a problem to you.
It's the Vic Libs virtue signalling to bigots.

Funny we’ve managed to run without a treaty until now costing us $0

I have a huge problem with government over spending and this simply adds to it.

Do you think treaty and crime might be related, since indigenous incarceration rates are 10x non-indigenous rates for youths and adults?

Maybe treaty is a better way of preventing crime than yelling for criminals to be punished more which is proven not to work.

I think crime is a state issue, so is the state budget. I also think education and health are more important because poor education/health leads to more crime and more education leads to more wealth and economic benefits.

There are lots of issues. I think education and health are far more important to me than crime. By about 100-1.

I'd rather somebody stole my car than have to wait longer for surgery or my kids get a worse education.

Sorry Saint said it. Regardless I was responding to him…

At no point did Saint say or even hint at the concept that a States debt and Crime are not issues.
In fact, he literally addressed both in the post you replied to.

Your issue is that you don't view Aboriginal people as your equal, and you oppose them being included in your view of 'us'.

Genius logic. Complete dribble.

It’s ok, not wanting special treatment for a said group is not treating someone as equal.. gotcha.
We should be aiming for equality of outcome, not equality of input.

There's something structurally wrong which makes equity of outcomes inequitable.

It's already something the Government is doing to make thing inequitable, which needs to be fixed.

Want to make a prediction on when Victorian Premier Jacinta Allen will be facing a leadership challenge, and who will take on Allen in a spill? My prediction is that Allen will be challenged for the top job by her deputy premier Ben Carroll as early as mid-December. Carroll will lose by only 8 votes, sit on the backbench and try again in March next year.

Are you expecting Carroll to announce his challenge at the opening of the Metro Tunnel?
