And yet people would go on for hundreds of posts trying to out stubborn each other and gain some imaginary advantage.

Can't people just enjoy footy? all of it, without the BS
Obviously not.

Altho threads like this are quite fun.

Raw score involvements yes. But that is due to Dogs game style, 3 of the top5 players for raw score involvements and 8 of top 40 were Dogs.

Dogs were highest scoring team 2493, but also had one for the worst points against 1820 of the decent top 9 teams.

Pies were lowest scoring team of the decent top 9 teams 1991, but had the best defense 1627.

Being involved in 7 score involvements at the Dogs was much easier than at Collingwood or Freo let alone Carlton, North or Essendon because the Dogs just played a free wheeling high disposal high scoring game style that looked great when they got on top, and meant the Dogs were #1 team for playa ratings, but still missed the 8.

They do track proportion of individual players score involvements compared to total team scores, Daicos was involved in a higher proportion of the Pies scoring than the Bont, Heeney, Petracca in 2025.
What about 9 score involvements?

We both know if Bontempelli had played in r2 then the Dogs would have finished above Collingwood so your point about the scores is not really relevant.

They're fun to make fun of people? I just don't get the concept.
They're fun to read. Watching people crap on about NWM or ND to compensate because neither side won the flag is kind of funny.

No. Not at all.

Oh, just when I thought I sort've understood the need to denigrate one of our fantastic young AFL players....

Well if its not tall poppy?, why is it that its constantly directed at just the young Collingwood bloke? Seems to me there's a whole heap of talented youngsters playing the game, yet most threads just seem to concentrate on one young Magpie?

If the supporters of one club are talking up their own player so much they are acting like he is the second coming of Jesus then of course it is going to result in people disagreeing.

You don't see anyone doing this about Bontempelli and the reason for it is because we don't have Bulldogs supporters stubbornly making sure there is always a thread on the first page of bigfooty arguing Bontempelli walks on water and women literally faint from pure pleasure just by seeing his face.

You got that the wrong way around ie Jesus was the first coming of Daicos 👍

Even Tigers supporters like myself with Dusty. The man is a god amongst Tigers yet the only main board thread about Dusty potentially being the goat was started by, you guessed it, a Collingwood supporter.

Are you Fadge? Cos that's who I was talking to,
You've really got to understand this is a public forum and that anyone is welcome to respond to the uninformed questions you pose.

You get precious when I respond to a question that wasn't specifically directed at me, then get precious when another poster answers a question that was directed at me.

anyway he's been hinting at it since he started these threads, he just doesn't have the balls to say it outright cos he knows how stupid that will look when the guy can barely win his own club's B&F.
So first you refer to the thread title, in which case you are wrong, then you double down by indicating you're a mind reader, and that I've been 'hinting at' Daicos already being the GOAT or GTWEB...

Oh boy...
Perhaps this thread should pose the question HOW LONG, given his current downward trajectory (approx 5-20% depending on the specific metric) since his second season, till he struggles to average 15 possessions per game and kick five goals in a season. Five years?
Yeah, because that's highly likely.

Maybe you should start your own thread if that's what will tickle your fancy?

We do, do we?

So a mind reader and a retrospective crystal baller.

You really are quite amazing.

Maybe we all should spend more time talking positively about all the great players who play our great game, as opposed to the alternative.

Lachie Neale has been spoken about more in the last two weeks than he had previously been in his 250 plus, 6 x club best and fairest, 4 x All-Australian, 2 x Brownlow, 2 x premiership, 1 x AFLCA Champion, 1 x AFLPA MVP, 1 x Ayres Medal career - is that really a good thing?

9 out of 30 or 8 out of 25

8 out of 25 is a higher proportion of involvement in team scoring, which is what I said.

The Dogs could only beat 1 decent side all year (GWS) with the Bont.

Dogs had 9 games where they scored 125+ in thumping wins against majority of dud teams (only decent opposition was GWS).

Collingwood, Brisbane, Geelong and Hawthorn (the four PF teams) COMBINED for just 7 games where they scored 125+.

So IMHO much better to use scores as a proportion of team score to identify the actual standout players, not just see which players played for the Dogs (the attacking team who racked up big numbers against poor teams).

And is anyone really surprised that Daicos is at the head of the list?

Now this is what I call 'informed analysis'.

This is much more useful when comparing players than the lazy screen dumps of FooTYWiRe STaTZ and PLaYeR RaTiNGZ.

Stats and ratings are useful, but not the be all and end all.

Dogs had a team rating of 230, meanwhile Lions, Pies and Hawks were 211, 210 and 209.

Any surprises why Dogs have a group of highly rated individuals according to PlaYA RaTings that are all predominantly designed to measure equity impact related to scoring - as they were the team that played a free wheeling high disposal game that beat up on avg sides, but was found wanting when up against good opposition.

Daicos has already showed he stands out in a strong team, that is playing a defensive style. Imagine if Fly released the shackles!!

More informed analysis....

People, be sure to take a leaf out of this man's book!

Do you weight all players performance then according to list demographic?

Huh?

The post was more a comment on game style than it was list demographic.

And his analysis clearly explained why the algorithm used for PLaYeR RaTiNGZ is flawed because it favours players/teams that focus on offence at the expense of defence.

So game style
Age of list
List demographic
Injuries

You can’t just say you’d expect that and weight it accordingly but not take in all consideration.
