Nice. I went to 04 and 06. 04 was good for 3 quarters. Then it became a blow-out which tends to happen in grand finals.

I suspect you weren't the only one caught out. A lot of people book things in for after the footy season so when it was suddenly extended a week later it made it hard.

Personally I was already going to the NRL grand final that weekend and of course we only knew a week before that there was another AFL GF so flights were very expensive on what is already a long weekend in Sydney so I drove to the Melbourne on the Friday night then drove to Holbrook on the Saturday evening and then to Sydney on the Sunday morning.

Not something that can ever be a problem again.

I have been to 30, every one from 1996 to 2025 except 2021. That is counting 2010 as two grand finals.

As an AFL member living in the ACT, I was able to go to the GF at the Gabba in 2020 but not able to go to Perth for 2021.

Three of those, 2001, 2002 and 2003 I was involved as an official in the TAC Cup curtain raiser.

I have also been to 21 NRL Grand Finals - 2004 to 2025 except 2021. I went to the first AFLW GF on the Gold Coast.

First ever time to the MCG was the 2005 Grand Final.

05, 06, 07, 09, 10 (replay), 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24 and 25.

I bus it over from Adelaide on the Friday night. Used to bus it back to Adelaide straight after the game but have flown back Saturday night the last couple of years.

72 the loss. 2020 I could get to SE Q AFL games. Lions didn't make the GF so it was easy to get a ticket.

To Victoria and NSW it was but not from ACT.

I flew up on the morning of the match and then flew to Sydney for the NRL grand final the next day.

If they were the other way around I wouldn’t have been able to do it.

As an AFL member they disabled the barcodes of those living in VIC or NSW but I was able to use mine to buy a ticket without any problems.

2012 which was freezing but god it was one of the great games and Sydney won. Still can't get over the fact LRT didn't get the Norm.

Went in 2022 (great) and 2025 (not so great). Was too much of a broke ass n-word to go 07, 08, 09, 11.

Ofcourse I missed the Dees flag and I also missed out on tickets for the Pies V Eagles which potentially is the club house leader of 21st century GF’s

Hawks V Sydney 2012 was the most enjoyable GF I attended.

I got tickets in 1990 through my Dad's work. Same in 1992 and 1993. I sat behind the goals in the old Southern Stand for the 1990 Grand Final. I became an AFL member at the start of 1994 and was able to acquire tickets in 1994 and 1995 as a restricted member. I missed out in 1996. I was elevated to full membership in 1997 and have been to every Grand Final since, with the exception of the Covid years

Before the new southern stand was built VFL Park members (as it was known then) had access to the MCC reserve for the grand final. I sat in the top level on the Ponsford for the 1990 GF.

My memory is a bit hazy but I think that as the VFL wanted the grand final at VFL Park the access to the MCC reserve for grand finals was negotiated when the grand final stayed at the MCG

1984, 85 & 86.

About 8 of us would all get time off at the same time. Drive over in several cars from Adel to Melb on the Thursday & take our time coming back along the Great Ocean road the week after. .

We used to stay at the Royal Arcade hotel in Little Collins Street (?)

I seem to remember it was relatively easy to get tickets. One of my mates would write to one of the clubs (think it was Essendon) early in the season and simply request GF tickets and we'd get them later on (I think we had to buy them in a group of 3, being the 2nd semi,. prelim and the GF). Think the cost was $129. Standing room only.

As an 18 year old, was simply amazing. 84 was Essendon's comeback in the final quarter and 85 was the big melee on the outer wing.

Great memories.

Had the chance to go to the 1997 GF but had to knock it back as I was starting a new job on the Monday and thought I'd better do the right thing.
