What the **** is Nicks on about. This was him on Sid Draper:

"He's one of those guys that we just want to really harden him up and get his body balanced out. He's a Formula One engine – and I want to be respectful – in a Sigma body. We've got him to a point where he's really well balanced."

He is a formula one engine in a sigma body.

Mewing incident, 3-4 weeks out. Told it hasn't perturbed his grindset.

I am totally going to be saying "sigma body" from now on.

Hinkley and his shitty philosophies gave people like Drew and Lorenz sigma bodies.

We have a Bequest Program set up in a Trust and is part of the reason why we are looking at doing some property development near Alberton Oval to earn non footy generated income.

But it was set up around 1998 when oldies went to the club and said they would like to leave something to the club when they pass on. If you make a formal Bequest you get invited to 2 small functions a year with other people who have pledged money to the club in their will, and past and present players attend these functions.

We have something about it on our website, but I've never heard of a marketing campaign direct to members inviting them to join a program.

I'm not sure about the 2 newer clubs but all the others have a Bequest Program of one form or another.

I remember Richo talking about that once and it's something we have in place if people want to bequeath money.

But yes, I've never heard that we sent out emails or letters saying Hi thinking of dying soon? How about leaving us some cash?

Considering leaving my vintage Gibson Les Paul Burst to the PC.

I think it would great hanging next to the Travis Oak Cabinet.
Haha more chance the club sells that, than hang it up. The insurance on one of those in good condition, would be cost a bit.

People do this all the time, have these people complaining just born or what?

It's a 79 & still in like new nick.

Second owner purchased it in the early nighties for a little over a grand, keep it in the case and locked in the closet :)

About 10+ years ago received an invite to visit the club (with others) and discuss the possibility to donate when I fall off the proverbial twig.

The invite was declined and I haven't heard from the club since.

I think Russell Ebert (RIP) was used in the promotion of that initiative, well before he got his diagnosis. Or maybe that was something else.

Do you know anyone who is in the program? They may have given your details to the club.

My brother in-law's late mum made a bequest. She was 3rd or 4th generation Port support and her and hubby spent a lot of time at the club in the 1950's thru to 1990's and a couple of friends told her that they had joined the program. She said she was interested, so one of them set up Shane Kircher who was in charge of the program at the time, to go and talk to her about it.

No REH, that's why it came out of the blue. If there was such person, they kept it very secretive.

The only thought I had at the time was 'someone' was trawling through membership for people of a certain age. Equally, I may be wrong as it was some time ago.

Russell was in charge of organising the 2 functions a year benefactors were invited to attend. He would organise past and present players to attend. He would have done some word of mouth type marketing of the program.

A lot of members who are in the Swoopers group - that originally was set up in the 1960's or 70's to raise funds for junior footy, but has continued after we joined the AFL and then lost junior grades in the SANFL with the merger, have joined the Bequest Program and i'm sure some casual marketing is done at their functions.
