Don't understand how you guys have so many games looking listless under him. At hawthorn he cooked their list but the players still put in a shift every week for him. At North he seems completely unable to get consistent effort out of the playing group.

We beat you in the preseason last year and you spanked us r2, but when you're a crap team (We are in that basket too) you can't be playing stinkers in the preseason and killing your fans and members enthusiasm.

Meh. Six years had already killed enthusiasm for anyone who's been watching. What's one more hiding?

That ship has already sailed, it was the Goodship DILLIGAF, and most supporters were on it. We are the post apocalyptic survivors, scrabbling around in the dirt and dust trying to find remnants of hope and usable firewood.

What’s he doing all week?

How can you have meeting after meeting and STILL not have anything that resembles a modern and decent game plan.

Genuinely reckon he lost the plot and his backbone off the back of the Racism scandal.

Just our luck.
There’s enough evidence he’d lost it at the hawks beforehand.
Looks like we got the ole Jonno Hay special from the hawthorn again.

Well, Jy was so sick of Clarko that he wanted out. There's one.
Shouldn't be played, should've been let go at whatever was on offer. Now, he either plays and has no care, or he is sent to the 2's where being ostracised creates equal apathy and media scrutiny.

Should create a "loan market", a mid season trade period ....

Are you in a men's group?

Revisit mid season. If it has been a basket case, have kingy, longmire and simpson pointing it out in the media.

Clarko gives it away with 8 games to go. He relinquishes 2027 salary as he's a decent bloke.

Simpson to replace. He still has the passion, the smarts and the grim determination to get us winning again. Simmo was still a roos man when he was winning GFs for west coast

Lol, is that a boys band all grown up?? I have no idea as to what you're on about .... nope, can't say that I am.

Not sure Simmo is the answer. He left West Coast in a mess, much like Clarko left Hawthorn.

It’s pretty clear he’s in the Pagan/Malthouse category. The set up offensively is diabolical only to be bettered by an even worse defensive set up. The ultimate combination of shitness.

We need someone similar to Kingsley who values modern football traits.

I’d love to see what he’d do with this list.

Agree but Sonja wont be hiring a hard ass coach - she'll want a nice guy that doesn't raise his voice, has the players feelings front of mind and is willing to give everyone a go.

Won't she though? Wasn't Clarko known for being a hardarse coach ? Has he been watered down, or lost the passion, or has the game gone by him? A combination of the 3, multiplied by the tempering of todays sensitivities? Is he hampered by todays new training constraints in place by the Players Association? Idk

Barlow has been floated - certainly an emerging coach, is he Kingsleyesque?

But yes, Clarko does not seem to have the answers, nor be able to find/develop/promote nor provoke the changes in the team that we're all after.

I'm inclined to lean Barlow way but he's just not ready. It's his first season as midfield coach, we've barely seen his impact as a proper assistant. It feels like in an ideal world he'd be primed as a successor, but Clarko being washed and needing to go sooner rather than later would definitely throw a wrench in that.

Longmire probably not keen, Simpson probably keen but also probably not the answer considering where the Eagles ended up under him. IDK.

Barlow has an opportunity this year - if he can get this midfield tighter and more competitive for longer in games even if the defence still leaks that will be a big fat tick.

You seem to spend a fair bit of time posting about him. Anyway, as it appears that you and Jy are similarly sick of the coach, maybe it's time for a rapprochement?
I don't bag the coach.

I'd love you to point me to a post of mine which does... or even a liked post.

The coach is trying to find players who can help us. It's a bit hard when all our fast players weren't playing/got injured.

I'm positive about Parker and Darling, the rest of the seniors are pus, anyway you chop it up, they are and have been no good for years. Jy made his bed, he wanted out and then once welcomed back into a fray (not my call as I would have taken the 2nd and run), he continues being the pus leader/player he's been for some time.

They mentioned on commentary that we wanted Caleb Daniel as a spare behind the ball, which allowed Melbourne to play with a loose third tall.

If that's the case in round one, then I doubt Clarko makes it to the bye.

For the first time in his career, Clarko is coaching to save his job, and the early results look worrying. Yeah it's just a preseason game, but at the very least it should have supporters re-evaluating their optimism for this season. As it's essentially the same squad, coaches, and supporting staff as last year, I'll be pleasantly surprised if the end result is any different.

I won't be surprised if things immediately turn when Barlow and Lil Jon take over mid-year. I just hope Sonja Hood doesn't take too long to pull the trigger on Clarkson.

My apologies, I took your regular criticism of the team's lack of direction, team selection and recruiting as directed at the person most responsible for those decisions. But, I guess it is all Jy's fault.

I would also be happy with Barlow as our next coach. My main wish is just that we go with somebody younger and with experience in the modern game.

Rhyce Shaw showed promise initially, until we shipped him off to Queensland on his own without even a senior assistant to guide him. After that it's been land of the dinosaurs in the coaches box and it hasn't worked out.

Giving a five-year deal to Simpson or Longmire would be so disappointing. It's essentially a pass to have zero expectations for the first three years, as the club can only afford to think about a replacement in year four. If it doesn't work out, then we'll find ourselves in 2030 in the exact same situation that we're in right now.
