Review Round 3, 2026 vs West Coast

The forwardline pushes up way too high and makes it difficult to score. It's just the wrong strategy, but this is still the strongest line.

The backline is a shambles. Too many non-defenders who are meant to be offensive, but aren't that either, led by Mead. Esava going down also shows why you shouldn't go cute with selections and go short.

The midfield gets all the attention, but don't show up when it counts. This is the most concerning line. It's meant to be good, but isn't. The others we know have deficiencies.

But overall, it still felt like a team that got 30-ish points up early and put the cue in the rack. Then the opposition took the momentum with accurate goalkicking and they just couldn't switch back on.

I've been defending Lukosius but he has pathetic baby hands. Hold a ****ing mark ffs
He could be one of the best forwards in the league if he just actually ****ing attacked the footy. Has all the tools except the mentality. So frustrating.

I thought we'd go 5-0, and still finish 11th. If our draw is that hard after round 6, imagine what we're looking at now. This is but the tip of the iceberg. Declining confidence, harder opposition, more injuries, are all awaiting us as the season progresses.

We are certainly in the bottom 3. Just a matter of where.
It’s going to be a long season.

I couldn’t understand why Mead was taking so many kickins, especially compared to Farrell. He doesn’t have a penetrating kick and I can remember one howler when he kicked it directly to an Eagles player.

I suspect that was a Carr instruction

I do think the clean out 100% needs to extend to the recruitment team. They have had their chances. More than enough.
Throw the farm at Mackie and buy him his own personal 24K plated barrel to bend the other managers over and we'll be sweet. Maybe even the Freo list manager, they seem to have done alright.

We missed Rozee a LOT. Not only to take a tag off Butters, but his close in work gets us out of so much trouble.

Butters needs to learn some discipline, if he spent more time hinting the ball and less time wrestling we may have won.
This is also why he can’t perform in big games.

The marking was of the standard you’d expect in a hurricane.

Our small forward cadre is not even SANFL standard.

Shit all round, just shit.

It was insane. With the game on the line, and needing to regain some momentum, asking just about the worst kick in the team who's on the cusp of being dropped to take kick-ins was a coaching disaster.

It felt like that before he kicked directly to West Coast and you could sense that coming. We knew it. West Coast knew it. Mead probably even knew it.

the kick ins were close to the most fustrating things to watch today

we kicked to the same kenny spot all ****ing day long, (55-60 out memebers wing) with the excpetion of that dog shit turn over inside 50 in the 4th

with the rules these days the AFL lets you basically get to 30 out and still we turned it over inside 50 with the game on the line.

Whoever signed off on that deal should be taken away never to be seen again.
You mean the contract for the social media tart, atkins, or both?

This is where onfield leadership matters.

A strong senior player needed to step up and take the ball out of his hands, regardless of any pre-ordained role or instruction.

It was reminiscent of Pittard in his Olive Oyl phase, left on an island to kick out in that loss to Gold Coast back in 2011.

Terrible skills. Whether thats fatigue from last weeks scorcher or playing another warmish game early on in the year who knows, or pressure from the opposition.

Look good when on the attack and solid skill execution, but turnovers are an easy goal to the opposition.

Beaten solidly around the contest in structure and personnel.

I know we will have enough points, but we will have to use the next available pick. If we have pick 2 and he gets bid on with pick 1, it’s gone. May as well finish below a possible bid and use the next available pick to get him.
You just need enough points it isn’t the next pick

“To match a bid, a club must give up draft picks that are of the equivalent value to the pick of the club that made the bid. Every pick in the draft is allocated a points value through the Draft Value Index (DVI), which you can see here. Under the current DVI, pick No.1 is worth 3000 points and it goes all the way down to pick 54, which is worth 14 points (every pick after that is worth nothing).”

Nov 2025, unless somethings changed since then

Carr has put players who have played enough footy on notice in his presser
Hopefully he told Luko to learn how to defend.

Luko shouldn't be in the team
Aliir stank again
Jones stank,
Dbj stank again,
Mead stank,
Brodie stank
Drew stank again

Esavas body is just a bag of piss

Tough watch. Started on fire, fell apart and no one really showed that they wanted it till the last 5 minutes. Whitlock is a big positive, there not much else. Midfield completely out worked in the second half. Oh yeah, and Eleni isn't even a park football umpire. No excuse, but Connor, Bergman, Powell-Pepper, and Marshall is a lot of experience out of the side. I know he was available, but an underdone Wines because of a pissant suspension was also missed in the middle.
