Just like Collingwood took McStay as a free agent, then Lachie Schultz, and then traded for Dan Houston. The lions took both Draper and Allen as free agents.

Last year there was plenty of criticism of your draft and you were not doing to have any picks in the top 20 due to how you handled the draft previously. You had opportunities for your own NCacademy but traded away points and took one of the Brisbane academy players later in the draft.

Also you lshipped out Mihocek and didn’t want him and up until this March you were still paying out Grundys contract reported to be worth 700,000. Not ti mention the father sons you’ve had.

There was plenty of media critics last year about your drafting and maybe your depth is not too deep but it’s too early in the year to know.

What an absolute sook. Victorian clubs (big ones) have so much pull within Victoria and so much advantage with the MCG in their corner. It takes a pretty stacked team to come to Victoria and compete given the ridiculous lack of travel Collingwood has had, not to mention the blatant advantage via umpiring at the G and the GF locked in there.

Play your violin and have a tear up. It’s a national game and the AFL will continue to expand it in NRL heartland. Big Victorian clubs will never lose their advantages, it wasn’t long ago we had Demetriou call for an investigation into why non vic clubs had won 6 consecutive premierships. A few other vic centric campaigners as well chimed in.

Collingwood has benefited from the father son policy immensely, as does Geelong. There are mechanisms not benefiting non vic clubs that you have ridden the wave on. Speaking of academies, didn’t the WB nab the no.1 pick 6 years ago?

I'm sure this is exactly how most Carlton and Essendon supporters felt around 2000. It was unthinkable these two clubs could go more than a few years not playing finals/contending. Collingwood has been fortunate in this century, but luck can change for even the biggest clubs in this league. Many predicted we would have a slump, but few predicted how bad and long. Pies have never had a period as long as Carlton or Essendon with very little success of any kind - their 32 year drought featured a lot of lost grand finals, so say 5 years without finals ans 10-15 years with a grand final appearance might test the loyalty of many supporters.

It showed how much they have based their entire game on giving him the ball, and how poor their depth is.

However, according to a BF poster or 2, RFC's recent flags were severely compromised by an umpiring conspiracy by which Tiger defenders illegal scragging tactics on oppo was not penalized by officials, whilst all other clubs were being penalized. This conspiracy invalidates the 3 premierships. To bring this scandal to an end, a one Mr Steve Hocking was deployed to reorganize certain rules of play.

Exactly. Since 2000 - only Richmond and Hawthorn won multiple Premierships in quick time without academies and without the father-son rule.

Clubs don't need those two factors.
