Out of the players playing the SANFL today, I only think Moraes and Cochrane are potentially AFL quality.

There is so much dead wood on the list.
There’s about 5 players injured that would be in our best team, we’re forced to play kids that need more development.

I'm beginning to think the idea of Bergman and the reality of Bergman are very different.
Starting to think the same. He’s a good player and versatile but might never reach his potential if he’s moved around every week.

if he’s planning on going back to VIC this might be the year to do it. Teams might be willing to give up 2 x 1’s with next year being compromised and him being contracted.

A few weeks ago I was dead set on keeping Butters, now I’m actually fine with trading him if we ensure we get market value.

Preferably keep Bergman.

Georgi we have to make sure stays.

Bring in Cochrane, Salopek, Pilot, keep on with your Lais and Whitlocks.

I’d just persist with Berry at this point, there’s quality there, hopefully he just needs time and confidence.

Visentini has to come on, Sweet is 27/28 and has his days but we need more.

Players like T Cochrane and Ramm hopefully coming on, Richards forming your workmanlike core, JHF doing JHF things.

Burgoyne is frustrating, rarely gets beaten 1 on 1, is quite smart with ball in hand but doesn’t get involved enough, love Josh to find a way to bring him into matches.

I just cannot see Wehr, Watkins, McKinley, even Durdin pushing our list up the ladder.

We’re desperate for a Rioli replacement, Wines is past 30 so need to look for an inside bull, unless Bergman finds his form and stays long term believe we also need a running halfback. Perhaps Marshall, Luko style playmaking from wing, halfback?

There’s some potential there, atm depth, injuries to players we can’t afford to lose, form, we look a ressies team. Hard to watch.

But we’re rebuilding, Koch is a moron.

If Butters goes, we can offer Bailey a big payday. But our ladder position isn’t going to improve until we can inject 3-5 more talented youngsters, and that’s only going to happen through the draft, and then they need time to develop.

At the end of this year, I’d absolutely consider trading anyone, who is +27 and has some value. SPP, Marshall, Farell, Esava, Drew.

And I’d tank hard next year. Put Bergman in the middle to inflate his value. And take the free angency compensation. End up with Picks 2 and 3 in the draft.

And then take Nasiah in the pre season draft.

That’s how you do a mini rebuild. Could end up with 4 or 5 decent youngsters, Nasiah and Bailey

For Bergman and Zac.

It will be very interesting how the trading goes and if we can get something for older players who want out. Could we link Ratugolea with Butters if he goes to the Western Bulldogs.
How about Sinn even?
Does Tasmania want Drew?

Massive off season this off season.

The problem with Bergman is he’s such a jack of all trades and such an excellent defender we’ve never given him a chance to develop as a midfielder. Mead has prob attended 10x as many centre ball ups as Bergman, which is astonishing.

As a defender/ utility alone miles is well worth keeping. Not many guys in the afl with that ability to defend talls and small , defend in the air and on the ground.

Only way I’m letting him go is if he asks. Losing him really would set our defense back

Agree with everything you've said other than Durdin, think he's slowly growing into his role but has always been a goal sneak. 7 goals in 4 games for a small forward that's in a largely dysfunctioning team so far is a good return. If we get 30 goals from Durdin a year that's a massive return imo.

You have to have senior players to support the young guys coming in. It’s the mistake north made, it’s why Melbourne had to rebuild 3 times in a decade, it’s why Richmond and the Eagles can sometimes be competitive and why north appear to have made a step up this year.

But you need the right guys. Whether we have those is another question.

Agree re his return, I don’t get the vibe from watching him that he’s actually a dangerous small forward, but happy to be proven wrong here.

I think the supply into our inside 50 has been average at best so it's a little harsh to judge him atm. Not saying he'll be a star ever but he genuinely could be one of the role players that we're looking for to get us 30 goals a year.

They have the room to offer Bailey a big deal irrespective of whether or not Butters stays. But being a RFA makes me think it's unlikely to eventuate.

Brisbane have said they are unlikely to match a huge offer for Bailey.

I don't quite understand why our list management is hesitant given he's a RFA. Brisbane won't match so don't need to trade.

Far from a given that they won't match. And he's going to be 27.5 years of age at the start of next year. I am not necessarily convinced he fits the age profile they're looking at relative to where the list is currently at in its premiership window timeline.
