Out - ROB, Jones, Pedlar
In - Laird, Bond, Dowling, Cumming

Swap Rach and Ranks up forward and on ball, along with Soligo, Peatling and Cook if required. Use Dowling in his preferred and best role as a Centreman

Wasn't overly worried about this game until I saw 10 mm of rain expected tomorrow, just think that'll suit Carlton's mids a bit more. Teams run Carlton off their feet which will be much harder to do if the ball is in contest all night. Hopefully the forecast forces a ROB swap.

In saying that, this is a game where Rankine should get himself back into some form.

25% chance of 10mm, its Adelaide there will be less.

We haven't earnt the right.

Buckle up and settle in for the ride. He will be our longest serving coach of all time. For all of time. Bookmark it.

I mean, on his current deal he’s already set to become our longest coach, no?

Only 24 short of Craig, so early next year (depending on how many finals we manage this year).

I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t rain much at all this weekend. Including tomorrow night.

Im in genuine disbelief that people are somehow suggesting Nicks' job is under pressure if we lost to Carlton this week.

He couldn't be safer.

The idea that some people think losing is better for our long term goal is absurd. We won't get top free agents (hard enough as it is) if we don't become a genuine contender.

We are more chance of getting rid of Nicks if he doesnt deliver whilst we at the top than if we all of a sudden go backwards from a minor premiership

Keays is all about effort and work rate. He has zero class, so whenever he has a niggle that impacts his running capacity, he becomes quite poor. With the years progressing and the amount of miles in the legs, it won’t surprise me if his cliff arrives in a hurry.
His running is a dead give away. Sometimes it's the energiser bunny Keayes we mostly know, and then moments later it looks like he's running in glue. He doesn't seem to be able to maintain it like he always could. Part injured? Part age? probably a combo.

Wouldnt think age would play a factor, he's 29 not 39

We went backward in 2024 due to Nicks shit game plan he rolled out at the start of the season that he even admit needed "tweaking" but that was before he blamed the players for not being able to execute it, he need to at least make Finals this year and losing to Carlton will make it harder.

Filled with dread they're gonna pick ROB again and "back the boys in"

I’m Resigned to it, Fog still out means they do t have to make a call at all. And they’d be confident that no matter how bad ROB is, we’ll end up with the justifying mailing of ‘a really strong opponent that bought a lot of heat’.

I just have to correct you on the perception that the board is somehow asleep at the wheel.

They’re very much awake, and acting deliberately, doing none of the things members want them to do. That’s the AFC board’s job, and it’s been its job forever.

If you think any of the non-elected positions are in it to serve members, and are just making honest mistakes, disabuse yourself of that notion immediately.

The elected representatives are no different, they’re vetted and put forward by the self electing swill. They may be voted on by the members, but then they become an ordinary board member, desperate to ascend to the appointed status. They don’t represent the members any more than the rest of the muck do.

This is absolutely right. He was running on the spot at one stage, most un-Keays like. I reckon he is carrying something, perhaps non-peak fitness due to his first hammy in the pre-season.

What?

We've never sacked a coach who has made finals in our history, even if September has been poor.

And there's barely any examples of other clubs doing this either.

Stan Alves almost 30 years ago and...?

We're between a rock and a hard place. Our team is good enough and Nicks is good enough for us to be thereabouts. No lower, no higher. We won't drop to sack the coach levels and we won't win anything either.

He has, but lose this week and his job comes under serious media heat for the first time in this coaching career.

When Vic media are talking about how poor we are, instead of just ignoring us, you know its bad
Can’t remember the word Graeme Goodings used on 5AA this morning to describe if we lost, but it’s the description to a result that would have to bring consequences, they might spin it externally, but lose this and he’s going to need to turn it around and fast if he wants to see 2027 as coach.

A 1-4 record is as bad as 2024, come on Carlton.

I'm in genuine disbelief you'd think he wouldn't be in the firing line if we lost this week.

You can see in his body language he knows the pressure is on.

Have you lost another bet?

It makes sense, perfect alignment philosophies, no wonder Roo got him through to equal Neil’s tenure.
