Autopsy Autopsy against Cats - 15 straight

Dawson is no where near AFL ready.

Whitlock is playing as a forward in the VFL... and is also not ready. Certainly isn't a better option than Trembath/Larkey/Darling at this stage.

I saw enough in Dawson when he played on Darcy to know hes got something. Is he down on confidence? I don't watch the vfl very often.

Our starting kpd's are nothing short of shite and the only l9vk for general defender should be Parker atm.

Typical NM logic to play Mattlock as a kpf when we are screaming out for kpd and have found Trembath...

Shout out to Jack Darling. Just competes all day, never gives up, does everything for the team, absolute role model.

Bona fide Shinboner!

Now that Ive had my Greek coffee and baclava I've calmed down.

We dont really have a right to think we should have walked away with a win today. Just not there yet.

To be up in the third after copping the first four goals within 5 minutes of the bloody start of the game…there are some positives to take.

Let’s face it, Geelong in GMHBA was never on our bingo card at the start of the season. We’ve surprised ourselves, but still got flogged on the scoreboard. It didn’t feel like a flogging to me, at least. After that, I reckon we can beat Sydney. Time will tell.

The last quarter undid the progress we made from midway through the 1st to midway through the 3rd. Have still improved year on year. The issue is we have a bottom 5-7 who don't contribute or are even detrimental each game.

Still some good experience gained. The players should mark the return game in the calendar now because they're capable of beating the Cats.

(Put this post in the VFL thread accidently lol)

I agree. We are well overdue a surprise win. Do the players believe they can win? That's my biggest concern.
Last win over a finals team was Tiges in 2022. This team has to grow a pair at some stage.

Commiseration to all attendees today. But you knew what you signed up for. Do yourselves a favour and don't start anything on the way out.
I had to leave 10 minutes before the end for my own safety and the safety of others 🤬 probably the most disappointing quarter of football by North that it has been my misfortune to witness (and I’ve seen some pretty bad quarters of footy)

I’ve tried really hard to get onboard the ‘we’re heading in the right direction train’ but now I just don’t know. An awful awful display. Who do we blame? I’m going with the cattle, too many have been on the list for too long now without turning the corner. Just cull cull cull at the end of the season and go into serious debt to buy the best free agent talent that we can get.

I’m honestly at the lowest level I’ve ever been with this club and don’t know if I can bring myself to watch another match let alone attend in person 😭

Seriously, Logue, Corr and, yes, , Pink are nowhere near AFL ready either.

We cannot do worse than giving big Wil another go.

imo I feel the same way I did in 2012-13

A few new pieces to the jigsaw, some more games into kids and we will get there come 2028 onwards

Clarko is in a hurry. He has his thirst back.

Buckle up

Good post. TBH I could see a world where Zurhaar and Powell are still around when we're contending. They aren't elite, but they're ok in that "best 20-25 players on the list" zone. They just need specific limited roles and we need to be prepared to drop them when they don't meet those standards. Obviously that isn't happening atm.

I even think Daniel could be there when we contend too, if he was playing a role more like Gryan Miers, Murphy Reid or Ginnivan. The problem as far as I can see is that its just not sustainable to play him primarily as a defender, imo.

Sounds naive after a 49 pt belting, but I would go so far as to say if we could sort out upgrades on McDonald, Corr and Logue, we could be in the mix as soon as next year.
I agree with you overall. However, I don’t think Corr, Logue and McDonald were our problem today.

Last quarter was terrible, but we were competitive for 3 quarters longer than we normally are against this mob.
Still very much a work in progress, especially down back.
A Jordan Butts type should see us as a viable option, which hasn't been the case for sometime.

Chin up brother.
There's still a fair way to go but the worst is behind us.
No need to blow everything up, just some targeted surgery down back.

Get a capable KPD and rebounder through trade and FA, get further development into Hardeman, Dawson and Thredgold. Then fingers crossed on Goater and Jacko, all of a sudden it looks a hell of a lot better.

Fair enough. There were quite a few problems today, and bit-by-bit each problem multiplied each other's significance.

I reckon the backline disproportionately contributed to that tho.

Powell, Dovaston, Spargo and Blamires weren’t good enough for us today, unfortunately.
Blamires kept Dempsey out of the game, aside from one mark and goal.

It’s the hope that gets you, and it’s been a while since I’ve felt any halfway through a game at the spiritual home of entitlement.

So… there’s that.

The obvious points have already been made: there needs to be genuine change at the selection table. The midfield cupboard (Wardlaw aside) looks pretty bare, which is concerning given how this list has been built. And the less said about our key back stocks, the better.

We are better than last season, but that just means we’ve gone from generationally bad to your standard issue crap. And it’s largely down to the usual repeat offenders.

The wheel is turning, despite some of our decision-makers doing their best to jam a stick in the spokes.
