Over the last few years we've traded in Cerra/Hewett/Williams/Saad/Martin.
In terms of bringing players into your team via trade it's a pretty good list. We now need an actual game plan to get the most out of those players.
Clubs need to learn not to give these ridiculous contracts...7+ years is a loooong time and every chance a players form drops and output doesn't match the price tag. The game itself changes alot in 7 years with all the rule changes etc. Always the risk of injuries too.
Kelly, coniglio, Grundy...

Omg...Treloar confirming Buckley DID say to him that other senior Collingwood players don't want him around...and is saying...
How do they not realise it would be so much better to just say that yes some of these decisions were to get our salary cap in a much better position moving forward, use that to talk about retaining and attracting players in the future and then maybe the draft a little bit...instead of straight...
So...more lies from the Collingwood hierarchy. Sad to hear for their supporters.
I mean it's just ludicrous for him to say that their salary cap issues are overblown and that their main motivation was to get into this draft...based on their trading that is obviously a lie. They didn't even get...
Yep not only are some of the contracts being handed out horrendous, the treatment of players has been equally poor which will hurt the culture.
Treloar's manager said they only found out Collingwood wanted to trade him 3-4 weeks ago...he basically said that wasn't enough time to properly find a...
Says it all doesn't it?
Wells - Was never worth a 3 year contract on decent coin given his age and injury history. Only played 15 games for Collingwood. Pointless.
Mayne - Has played a bit of a role lately but still not the kind of player worth a 4 year, $500k contract.
Beams - Absolute...
Boy just listened to the Ned Guy interview on Fox Footy...train wreck. Fumbling for excuses and I like that the hosts went hard at him.
Would have been so much better if he had just made some admissions that they didn't get the return they were after for the players that went out, instead of...
How's this attempted spin from Ned Guy...oh boy they don't think much of their fanbase do they?
"On behalf of Collingwood I would like to thank Adam for his service. He was a committed and strong performer for us and we wish him well.
For some time we have held the view that this year’s draft...
They probably accepted unders for Brown knowing they could forward it on for Stephenson and Atu, making it a good outcome in the end so it makes sense now.
Collingwood on the other hand...
Lol 1 poor season where he suffered an injury, hub life affecting people differently and his unborn kid passed away...after kicking 60+ goals the 3 years prior. Sure let's just ship him off for peanuts.
I think we can console ourselves with the fact pick 8 will likely be pushed to pick 10 and the fact most draftees haven't played for 12 months, and the ones who have played a bit didn't play against top prospects, will make it even harder than usual to nail draft picks.
If there was a year to...
The article states Dodo wants pick 8 and a 4th rounder for Saad & a 3rd...so he won't even accept Pick 8 for Saad & a third which I think everyone can agree is a good deal for Essendon. But no even for that Dodo wants a 4th rounder back.
He's a tool. There's no way we ever agreed to that but...
wow so much Essendon spin in this...clearly Essendon feeding this to the media.
So Dodo wants a 4th back and won't even give a 3rd straight up with Saad? He's taking the piss.
It's sad that Essendon clearly keep feeding media info to paint them as the good guys/victims and other teams as the stubborn unreasonable ones.
The headline has changed from Carlton backing out to Essendon thought they had a deal done...so clearly the info is from Essendon's point of...
Certainly some concerns around his impact as a KPF...seems a bit like Schache/Gorringe in that he has nice skills but isn't that aggressive, crash packs or take contested marks...which I assume is why his value is so low.
Still, for a 4th round pick and with GC paying some salary it's well...
Was always a huge risk given Hogan's injury and personal issues.
The real kicker is they could have drafted B King.
Shit job by their list management team, but good on Justin Longmuire coming in and ridding the club of conditional, lazy players like Hogan, Bennell, McCarthy & Matera. It's...
For Essendon yes, I wonder if it would be preferable for us...we could back ourselves to rise up the ladder but there's always a risk we don't. Personally I'd prefer we trade 8 as I think it's devalued given a lot of the top prospects from VIC didn't play/develop...I'd rather keep our 2021 1st...
You just got lucky...even most Essendon supporters are surprised to get pick 7.
But was a bad choice to turn down what could have been pick 9 and 3. But you go on being happy with how your club is going.
And up until that article, it had been reported as a 5 year deal...now suddenly 6.
If true i'm not happy with that contract. But i'm hoping it's one of these situations:
If we've paid $900k I'm not happy...FA always command overs but that's way too much.
I've seen other reports say $750k though...and as a Carlton fan i'll choose to believe those ;)
Conflicting reports, Tom Morris has said previously $850-900k but a few other journos have said more like $750k.
If it's $750k over 5 years, I think that's pretty reasonable considering he's a FA (usually pay a bit overs) and there's no way GWS will match it as they'll get pick 9 compo so we...
The guy is pretty soft...has shown it time and time again at Adelaide in big, tough games.
I'm pretty surprised GC went after him with a pretty decent contract, thought might be able to play someone better in that wing position.
