Player Watch #2: Finn O’Sullivan - Rd15 AFL Rising Star Nominee - Congrats Fossil

For a guy that hasn't had a rising star nom, and perhaps hasn't been that close to one (?), I'm pumped with how FOS is going. He doesn't seem to have any obvious weaknesses, great kick, terrific poise and hard as a cat's head. I was all for splitting pick 2 but we've got this one right.

He’s going to turn in to one those players that pulls ridiculous plays out of his arse on a regular basis.

We’ve seen the type frequently in other teams where they get the ball somehow can’t be tackled and throw it on the boot in what looks like a careless manner but it’s somehow a millimeter perfect kick.

I know he looks more composed than most, but to me it’s more like a Midas touch than anything else.

Another piece of the puzzle found if you ask me

Only real obvious weakness is his ability to accumulate the footy at this stage. I have no doubt that will come in time.

I'd just love to see him have 18-20 disposals per game, because he such a good decision maker ball in hand.

Not true Micky I was hard on Bailey Scott and look at me now, egg on my face.

I'm looking forward to being wrong with Goad and ready to eat a big serve of humble pie circa 2029!
There wont be any humble pie left for you to eat after i gorge myself after ccj becomes a gun....

Big men take time.

Arden st is famous for conditioning the players, look at the weight sleevo put on in his illustrious career in the blue and white.

Bont's draft profile had him at 10kgs heavier than Finn is now, and he's 15-16 kilos heavier than that now. It was an odd comparison. Although I'm not sure the poster was being altogether serious. Meanwhile Bont's draft profile compares him to David Myers and says his weakness is he's predominately outside. Hell - Dylan Stephens could end up being our Bont going by that.

Finn will be just fine as a traditional elite mid, not the big hybrid tall type.

Haven’t been in this thread for a while.
Can’t believe posters are questioning him to the degree they are.
Has great composure.
But he’s also great defensively - rarely gets beaten one on one. Also covers so well for others. The kind of thing you notice more at the ground than on TV.
A few armchair experts on here I reckon.

Whatever the players do in the club gym is one thing, but as professional and highly motivated athletes, you'd expect them to be putting in some private efforts for self improvement over and above.

We saw pictures of Sleevo's home gym in his garage.

He probably only ever lifted anything when he moved the shit over to fit his car in.

A year or so earlier I recall seeing a Western player, possibly Croft or Dale (I can't quite recall) in a puff piece with Tony Jones on 9 News sports segment where they had a nice little chat in his home. They showed his brand spanking new home gym / weight room, kitted out with a full weights rack and related equipment that would send any local gym green with envy. The player graciously thanked the equipment supplier for their generosity - obviously the advertising puff piece on the news was part of the deal. I suspect though that those weights have indeed been used to beef up whoever it was while Sleevo's, and probably half of the rest of the North guys weight sets were slowly but surely rusting away unused.
