He had 68 grams of cocaine - others have copped jail time for much less.
Derbas was faced with 17 charges, including supplying drugs and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He pleaded guilty at Burwood Local Court last March to two of the charges - supplying 68g of cocaine and dealing with $6,700 in proceeds of crime.
Derbas was sentenced to 20 months in jail from March 30 but avoided going behind bar and was allowed serve it in the community via an intensive corrections order.
Magistrate Richard Funston ordered him not to use drugs and not to gamble, otherwise he could be jailed for real.
