Man I cant believe Portland won! Thats crazy stuff. I reckon they will definately look to trade Zach off. When Zach want playing last year, Aldridge stepped up big time to average about 20/10. Has good post moves. Adding Oden to that mix is just perfect. Aldridge is too skinny to guard the bigger 4's but Oden can take that job now.

I'd keep Zach, for a season at least. They are a very young side so there is no need to rush and forcing Alridge and Oden to start every game is a bit much, however talented they are.

Milwaukee gets an established big who can score. A lot of these bigs coming through in the draft now arent exactly polished on the offensive end.

Admittedly its better for Portland than for the Bucks. I just want to see how good a team Portland can put together next year. :D

CV can score and isn't an expensive nutcase.

I think the case to keep Lewis is strengthened, no weakened.

Allows Durant to develop his game and adjust without too much pressure, and I see no reason why Lewis and Durant can't co-exist in today's NBA. Makes us more dangerous if anything.

turning out to be a :( week for the suns. although atlantas pick was in the hands of the nba gods, it was one spot away from nash and co.

im really happy for seattle (my second team). the team looked doomed before, wonder if rashard will hang around. ray allen's name is always up for trade, hope he hangs around. would be nice if durrant went #1 and oden to man the middle for the sonics, but it wont happen. could durrant and lewis play in the same side (although durrant can play inside). makes for a very interesting draft!

Portland (ages) and draft number (If they draft Oden):

C - Oden (19), pick 1 (2007)
PF - Aldridge (21), pick 2 (2006)
PF - Randolph (25), pick 19 (2001)
SF - Webster (20), pick 6 (2005)
SF Outlaw (22), pick 23 (2003)
SG - Roy - (22), pick 6 (2006)
PG - Rodriguez (20), pick 27 (2006)
PG - Jack (23), pick 22 (2005)

Is that a dynasty? Looks like it.

no. :D

OMG, zack is only 25!

Randolph is a very, very gifted player, but all things considered, a straight up trade for Lewis would favour Portland hugely.

yes it would, and also portland would get rid of another piece of the past. darius miles needs to be banished as well.

"We tanked for Joakim f*cking Noah?"

as for the Suns, they just need to keep the team they have. nothing else.

this team is good enough to win it all, sadly in three seasons this team hasn't had the chance to win it all. a fair run at the title with the full team in just one of the three seasons and who knows?

**** Garnett/anyone else.

Marion stays.

On paper Richmond ARE as good as Hawthorn. Other factors come into it. There's no way that list is bad enough to be 0-8. So why reward them with a guaranteed pick1 just because they can't get their side playing well together?

So under this present system Mepmphis could be the worst team for 3 years in a row but never get pick 1.

It also means hypothetically Portland could be the the 6th worst team in the NBA and score 3 number 1 picks in a row.

Sorry but to me that's not a system that is designed to even out a competition and make it more even.

Memphis hasnt been the worst team for two years yet though. They made the playoffs last year, losing to Dallas in the first round.

The team is really irrelevent.

It's the hypotheticals that matter because there's the potential for a really bad team to never actually get the help they need from the draft is there.

People say why reward teams that tank.

Well why reward teams that are 20 games better than the worst team by giving them the pick of the best players available first.

STiffy any thoughts on who we'll take at 10?
****ed if I know dude. This time yesterday, I would have said Conley. Now I don't think he gets to 10

I have this really bad feeling that we might pick Noah :(

Personally, I would love to see Petrie break his tradition and trade up into the 3-5 range to pick up a PF to build around.

See that line of thinking really is crap.

Portland played their hearts out this year and were a great improver (11 games) from last year. So why punish them?! And not to mention that they had the worst record in the league last year and end up getting #4 pick! I didn't hear you crying last year.

I certainly prefer the lottery that is in place now than the system the AFL has in place where teams ARE encouraged to tank and they know what they are getting. In the NBA there are no guarantees.

Portland should have gotten number 1 pick last year.

Who the hell needed/deserved it more, Raptors or Blazers?

Iv'e heard few cries of tanking in other sports that allot the best pick to the worst team.

Why not have a lottery draw for teams 1-3 to determine their position, then for 4-6 and so on.

Because that would also encourage tanking. If there was a game difference between 3rd or 4th worst record, I would bet the team would go out and throw a game to guarantee themselves a top 3 pick rather than risk ending up 6th. Not to mention the possibility of landing the top pick.
