Gaz should feel pretty robbed given the MRP let Judd off for his elbow on Pavlich.

Still congrats to Gaz coming 2nd. I think he's the first player ever to poll 20+ in four consecutive years, an amazing achievement.

Votes were interesting. According to the umpires Ablett, Selwood and Pods are our best players of the year.

We need to keep these 3 on the park and add some youth - with Scarlett, Enright and Harry as still the back key 3 (and backman never get votes).

Cannot believe Varcoe got only 1 vote ? Oh well.

The value of Ablett to Geelong is immense on the off the field.

We will know soon - but I trust all is being done to keep him. We can lose a few players but not Ablett. However this all out of hands now.

If he stayed it would be the possible beginning of a renewed team that could challenge in a year or two - all going well.

Ablett could have won 4 in a row with a little bit of luck. I really hope we are pulling out all stops to keep him. He is probably the best player we have ever had.

4 in a row?
Should have won in 08, won in 09, could have won in 2010 which other year was he a standout? I'm curious.
Then again what year hasn't he been a standout.

Swan should poll well, but like many have said - his team mates will take votes from him (like our blokes).

I reckon the winner needs to be an outstanding player in a reasonable (ie not champion) team. Therefore I believe Judd will win again because Carlton have been OK, and Judd is their stand-out player (plus the umpires love him)
good get this

good get this

Thanks mate - pity I didn't put any cash on it!

I wanted to bounce my original post for the benefit of the Collingwood BF poster who thought my 'vote stealing' theory was crap.

(but given he'll probably be a supporter of this years premiers, my 'victory' is pretty hollow)

Really surprised that Gazza polled so many.
Stunned that Pods polled so many.
Fell off my chair when Judd got past 20.

Also surprised that Chappy polled so few.

Gazza will win another brownlow. It's obvious they notice him as they give him one votes that could have gone to anyone in those games (except the carlton game)

With a change to rotations Gazza is going to smash the competition for a couple of years.

Me too.

Congrats to Ablett for polling 98 votes over a four year period, which I believe is a record. He is also the first player to poll in 13 games but not win the Brownlow. Very close this year.

Pods polled more than Pavlich, Brown, both Riewoldts, Franklin, Hall, you name it. Adam Goodes equalled him with 13. So therefor Pods is better than all those guys and the equal of a 2 time Brownlow winner :D

Inconsistant minnow bashing :thumbsu: Mind you, no one really looks at what teams midfielders play well or poorly against do they?

Just proves that the jPod is the best power forward in the comp unlucky not to be in the AA team instead of Hall:D

if gazz had won the brownlow there would have been even more pressure for the afl to provide geelong with another pick as part of the draft

And where is Hutchy. Given this is a huge story one would have thought he would be all over this one. Or is it that Pickers has asked him to lay off, for an exclusive when the story breaks.

This is so orchestrated.

I do not know how a genuine Geelong supporter can endorse this, and it is Gazza that is orchestrating this. take your bag of moolah, dish out your lame excuse about wanting to lead a club and a new challenge, blame Bomber and piss off.

Was just at the club picking up an auction won geurnsey, when some old cobber rang up reception demanding to speak to someone (Balme) about wanting to take legal action against the AFL.

Obviously a lot of bitter members out there, and rightly so.

The loop hole needs to be fixed, even if Judd gets to keep his medal.

Finals or not, a suspension should make a player inelligible for either the season it happened, or the season he serves his suspension in.

Its a joke.

Shame he's ineligible! :p

Sure is polling well though. :thumbsu:

It's a joke Judd got votes against Freo. Wasn't that the game McPhee tore him a new one?

Yes, and the game where he should have been suspended for elbowing Pavlich's head.

Fair enough too...it's the least they could do (give him deserved votes) after failing to put him in the AA team, Pods for AA 2011!

how did ablett get one vote for his 4 goal 26 possession game in rd 21?

or his 2 goal 37 possession game in rd 1?

Dunno about the second one, but in the Round 21 game, he was very quiet early, and only hit his straps halfway through the third term. Chappy and Selwood probably contributed more over the four quarters, so they deserved the 3 and 2 votes respectively.

And that is the mystery of the Brownlow... has been in the past, the present and will be in the future forever more.

Judd also polled in matches where Carlton got smashed!!! wtf.... Umps sponsored by OPSM indeed.
