Slightly off topic, **** the Giants midfield is awesome. Shiel, Treloar, Scully, Ward, Tyson, Coniglio, Adams, Greene, Sumner, Smith, Hoskin-Elliot. Add in Buntine and Haynes who can also play midfield and you have one premiership team in 2016.

Even if they lose half those kids in trades, what they get back will really good quality.

Richmond on paper has a very strong midfield group as well, you need a lot of pieces to fall into place.

IMO North's will be better than Richmond's

Prospective midfield in 2014. Crouch, Dangerfield, Kerridge, Sloane, Thompson (should still be around at 31), Van Berlo, Vince, Smith, Mackay, Douglas, Grigg. I like it. Hard, Strong players with a bit of speed (except Grigg, but that Left Leg:thumbsu:).
Mackay's out with a quad.

2-3 week injury, actually out for 10.

Im concerned that 3 of the 4 players we have chosen have question marks over their disposal and not one small crumbing forward.

Your forgot Riley and.......Reilly

Kerridge's disposal is fine. Whilst it isn't on a Sam Mitchell level, he isn't a turnover merchant and he gets the job done by finding targets a lot more often than not. As for a small crumbing forward, they're usually better off as rookie selections (see Garlett, Milne and Betts who was a PSD).

In the short term I see Callinan as the small crumbing forward. And it is also a role that Petrenko can play. Or even Douglas.

Loading up on midfielders allows some of these guys who are not really mids (Pets/Dougie) to play these other roles.

Very happy that we stuck to a plan. Sando has said we need 10-12 mids in the side. With Mids including Wingers/HB & HF Flankers our mix getting there. I doubt Sando could be unhappy with the work our recruiters have done in getting the guys we have got in Trade Week and the National Draft.

Disposal is hard to guage untill they get to the AFL level. Ben Jacobs was meant to be an elite kick at underage level............

How many rookie picks will we be able to select this coming rookie draft? Adelaide could opt to hold onto Craig and Young for another season which would boost our ruck and KP defender spots by one giving us a couple more picks in the rookie draft I think?

I think our Pick 24 for Pick 27, Pick 41 and Jenkins trade has turned out to be a huge winner. I'm sure if we had of stuck with 24, we still would have picked Kerridge.

If we had decided to keep 31 and not given it to Ess, I think we would have picked Grigg with this pick as well. We effectivly got Jenkins for Free if our intention was to pick Grigg at 31.

We basically ended up with Kerridge, Jenkins and Grigg for Gunston didn't we?

Although most of us were expecting us to pick up a genuine small forward in the draft, I think the club feels that we have so many Mids now, we will expect them to rotate through the forward line. We might pick up a smokey in the rookie draft, but I kinda doubt it.

Yeh that's right. I don't think we've done to bad in the Gunston trade.

Gunston for Pick 24.
Pick 24 to GC for Pick 27 (Kerridge) and Pick 31
31 to Essendon for 41 (Grigg) and Jenkins.

That really is making the best of a bad situation.

Well done by our trading and drafting team. :thumbsu:

Can't see it myself either.

With Porps back, our options are Wright (done a good job as the small forward), Callinan or one of a 1000 mids that we now have. :)

IMO we'll be thinking tall in the rookie draft, mainly KPD's and project ruckmen. Young and James Craig will possibly be 2 of them.

Possibly another mature aged player plus any player that Rendell sees as a gamble but with huge upside.

anyone else expecting dougie to play alot more forward line again? I am.

he had his taste through the middle, showed he can play consistently at the level (well in 2010 he did...). His pace, goal sense and more experience under his built should serve him well spending more time forward again.

I'm expecting more midfield rotaion through the forward line ala Collingwood and using the wings and even one HBF spot.

Im expecting him to be much better this year.

If not he will be over taken by a younger mid, depending on Sando he will either be back in the SANFL or take someones spot in the forward line. I think the SANFL may house Douglas for a few games if he gives performances like he did this year.

I agree with more time in rotations through the forward line.

Just doesn't have that bigger frame sando seems to want to run through the midfield.

Also has more to offer our forwardline than our midfield at this poitn and more importantly in the coming years IMO.

Spoke to someone in the know:
- Joyce was picked ahead of Murdoch because he is a tougher player and Sando wants tough players;
- Talia was rated quite low as his kicking is really bad;
- Neale was rated equall to E-Y.
- Forster was rated better than Grigg but Kerridge was far ahead of all including McKenzie
-We will target a KPP in rookie draft along with a mature player.

I disagree, he's not a natural small forward and misses too many goals he should kick. For mine he's either in the midfield or at Glenelg. Wright Callinan Jaensch Petrenko and even Stiffy are better options.
