I do also think we will go best available. The gap between the mids and the best KPP seems to be too far, and i can't see us using 8 for such a player, not when we will probably be able to grab a decent prospect with 24 or 33 and still get that gun mid at 8. If you want a mid and a KPP out of the draft, surely mid at 8 and KPP at 24 is the order you would go.
For me, our pick 24 will be telling, i think 8 is best available, but we will have to weigh up a few options at 24 depending on who is left, and it's much harder to judge that this year. We could go tall or small and will depend on who slides. With another pick at 33, we will take into consideration what players are likely to be left here as well before reading out our pick 24. We could certainly do worse than Jaksch at 8 and Lonergan at 24, i'd be pretty happy with that, but at the same time, can't help but notice the likes of Shaw, Smith and White still not taken at 33 in FootyTragic's phantom. Surely a Wines at 8 and 1 of those 3 talls at 33 would be the way to go.
I still question whether or not we will worry too much about KPP with our first batch of academy kids to come through next year. Tickner especially looking likely up forward for us. Just not sure the club will feel as rushed to get a KPP in as it might have in the past. We made a big play for Hogan for obvious reasons, along with Tippett, but outside of getting a true genuine gun key forward, i just can't see us taking someone we don't rate in the same caliber. I think we would rather back in what we have and our academy kids, rather than reach for just a possibly 'good' KPP, especially at the expense of not drafting a possibly 'great' mid.
