Would be a dream come true, don't reckon he'll last that long though.

Haven't had time to follow it this year so I don't know much but he's in my list of three things I'd love for us to get.

Reckon we'll have pick 11 with North and the Saints finishing ahead of us, we're not gonna let the Tigers finish ahead of us surely?

Hope not but they well could and Freo will be hard to catch for us from here. So pick 9 or 10.

Big bodied mid for mine.

No more flankers.

this^ but skill level should be high. no more workhorses with dodgy disposal please.

would like another tall ruck/forward as a project as success rate for this type of player is not high even in top 10 picks.

trade Warnock for high draft pick or decent pick upgrade.

I cannot see Wines lasting to our pick.
Shaw, I think he may be a little overrated around these boards, it will be interesting to see on draft day. I personally thought he should have been dropped for the last WA game, but it looks like they decided to let him play ruck. There is no chance he could ever do that at AFL level.

The current ladder standing has us at pick 9.

Who are the certainties to go top ten at this stage?
Can we push Melbourne to take Viney with one of their top ten picks to use to advantage? Is it worth it?

I have no evidence to back this up but somehow the name Vlastuin just looks like a Navy Blue.

Grundy, Whitfield, Toumpas - Close to being locked in the top few picks.

Garlett, Wines, Mayes - I would say they should be floating around the top 10.

Then it starts to become a lot more subjective in many regards. My knowledge of this draft is a little more limited than usual.

Still these players could be around pick 9 which may be of interest.

Jonothon O’Rourke - Assuming some for the first 6 names have been selected, then this guy seems to be a nice fit for Carlton.

Nathan Wright - I've been told by a few people that I rate him a little too high, probably not a top 10 pick, but he could be moving into the top 20. Has plenty of positives, people just seem to worry about his kicking ability. He seems to have a great hunger for the contest and speed/jumping to match. He played the role Atley is currently playing for North Melbourne.

Atley has come along in leaps and bounds with his kicking ability, I think Wright could do the same. (Atley was a better player as a jnr).

I honestly just don't like this draft class for whatever reason.

Top 5 atm in my eyes.

1. Whitfield
2. Toumpas
3. Mayes
4. Grundy
5. Garlett

Another flanker/outside midfielder who needs to improve his kicking?

That sounds perfect for Carlton. :p

As long as he's an inside mid, I prefer your O'Rourke suggestion.

Robinson and Vlastuin as our redheads and hardnuts for the next eight to ten years.

Don't think Melbourne will need to use one of their high selections to take Viney.
Chances are he'll be snapped up with their second round selection.

Some interesting reading on here about KPF's and the fact that we need another one. I'd be doing everything I could to trade for one and also a big bodied inside mid as well. Then we can go to the draft and simply select the best available.

Really?

Pretty sure we'd offer up our first for Viney. He's worth it

It depends on whether teams see him as a bit of a Daniel rich, so if we stay where we are or by chance go down one position on the ladder then anything is possible, as it stands I believe we'll either have Stringer, Wines, Vlaustin or O'rourke.

What are people's thoughts on Jake Stringer?

I don't watch any junior footy and happily confess I have no idea but there are some interesting write ups on the lad including some who rated him very very highly before a badly broken leg last year. I think I read he has played in the forward line on his return and kicked 9.7 in his 1st game back? Could he be a top-line midfield talent that slips due to injury restricting his output this year like Judd and J Selwood?

would love stringer if he fell to our pick. big strong inside mid, who can also go forward and be a marking option. already solidly built and would of been easily a top 3 draft pick if he didnt break his leg.

I get this terrible sinking feeling that if Garlett is around at our pick we'll take him. A lot of people talk about his discipline problems as if they're nothing, He tried to run me over whilst he was drink driving.

I like the sound of Wines however, he could really be the missing cog of our midfield.

lets not pick someone with a history of injuries, they tend to promise alot but deliver little
Apart from Joel Selwood and Chris Judd. ;)

Do we take the risk and draft Troy Menzel who chose the LARS surgery after he ruptured his ACL?

Appears to run in the family with Daniel suffering two knee reconstructions. Similar to the Hartlett hamstring curse, except both might be gun players.

always exeptions to the rule.
but this year all i want is a bluecollar meat and potatoes inside mid.
clone lenny hayes and advance age him to 17yrs.

Now i firmly believe this season isnt over yet!
However if we were to stay in this ladder position perhaps even drop a spot there is a possibility i have been thinking of.

Gold Coast have to shorten their list by 8 players this year, that means they are going to be trading players to teams like Essendon, Geelong etc and in return receiving draft picks, probably first round draft picks.

I was on the Gold Coast board and it seems like (from the supporters view) that they'll be (due to their tight list constraints) trading these first round picks to secure higher first round picks. I.e instead of taking two low first round players they'll be going after one high first rounder.

Say we get pick 7-10*
Would it be in our interest to trade our pick to the Gold Coast for two of their new picks in the 15-20 range??
Normally i would say no, but this is a "super draft" and two picks could get us an inside midfielder and a tall

Wow?? Really??
But it worked with Jack Darls - he never ran anyone over in his car buuuut.
If we can get Garlett, i think he's worht it, I watched all the WA games and he was the standout.
We need more discipline at the club, this should include mandatory head shaving, boot camps, and house lock down for the first season!!
