And yet there were blow jobs on demand when he used his forensic skills to provide the board with an in-depth player write-up.

With great power comes great responsibility my friend - he can choose to use those powers to serve good or evil

One leads to blowjobs, the other to bans

Define good and evil.

good and evil defined by majority, isn't it? Like member appointed directors are always going to operate in the best interests of the club - lol

Logic suggest's the best government is a beneficial dictator - protects the people from the people - unfortunately you can never find one.

Logic also suggests that oxygen should be metered, so I take your point.:thumbsu:

Good and evil is defined by morality. Moral leaders are good; conversely immoral leaders are evil.

I think the reference is a "benevolent dictator". Human nature prevents the existence of a truly benevolent ruler.

Thanks for the clarifications - lol

Yes, obviously good and evil is defined by morality, but if you are lead by an immoral leader and allow it to happen (you know - you get what you deserve) then are the majority immoral as well? Just think about Germany under the Nazi's, at least in their collective consciousness - or some such crap.

Interesting to note we haven't elected to have any unlisted players on the 'permission to train' list this year.

Carlton, Saints, North, Melbourne and Essendon have elected for a coupld of players.

That could be because we haven't officially started training yet. The list may be restricted thus far to clubs that have (non finalists).

I like the way you think

On those grounds, next season we shouldn't have anyone on our list until december

My wish would be players who are at least physically capable of playing at senior level in 2013/2014 (i.e. within our premiership window).

Whether that be a tall, or midfielder, I don't really care. Just as long as they aren't stick insects that will take years to put some meat on their bones.

For what it's worth the inside footy magazine has us taking mason shaw at pick 17 in an absolute "no brainer"
Of a pick at pick 17..... Really hope that is right

Chris25 do you know much about Justin Hardy? Plays for Central Districts, 196cm KPP.

Here's my write up for him...

Justin Hardy (196cm forward - Central Districts)

Without a doubt, 2012 was a breakout season for Justin Hardy. Since moving to the SANFL from Tasmania in 2009, he had played 38 games for Central Districts as a full back. But this year, injuries forced the big man into the ruck which then led to opportunities in the forward line. And in just a matter of weeks, he became the best full forward in the SANFL and he ended up winning the goalkicking with 58 from 20 games. Before the move, he was a solid player but nobody would have been looking at him at a higher level. But now, he has received a state screening invite and is reportedly on the radar of a few clubs. And just as a side note, he played for Vic Country in the 2006 U18 Championships with Ben Reid, Lachie Hansen, Lachlan Henderson and Ben McEvoy. And went to the Draft Combine with the likes of Kurt Tippett and Chris Dawes - so he hasn't just come from nowhere this year. In terms of playing style, he is obviously a big strong body up forward, which he uses well in contests and is also a strong mark. So basically, he does everything you'd expect from someone pushing 100kg. He isn't particularly quick or athletic, so would likely be limited to full forward - and maybe some relief work in the ruck. Not sure he'll ever be a best 22 player, but he'd be handy depth to have on a rookie list.

And, I've finished drafting for Fremantle in the BigFooty Phantom Draft. I went slightly different...

Pick 17 Fremantle - Taylor Garner (187cm, 77kg midfielder - Dandenong)

No doubting that Taylor Garner is one of the real surprise packets of this years draft, coming from a long way back to be considered a first round prospect. And while he might not be thought about as a top 10 pick, I'd be giving it a lot of thought. His performance in week three of the Championships against WA was probably the best performance of any player during the entire month in my opinion - and it was the culmination of his early season form. He just did everything you could possibly ask for. He took strong marks up forward, kicked goals and handed them off to teammates too. And then in the midfield, he won his own contested ball and used the ball really well. And he then ended up playing the rest of the Championships with a severely damaged shoulder, which he has since had reconstructed. Which says a lot about his attitude and determination. There aren't a lot of players with his size and overhead marking ability, who are also good in the contested situations. He does all the hard team stuff, but also the freakish things too. The possible rewards of picking Garner are huge in my opinion, he looks to be one of those modern day footballers.

As I said before, I was deciding between four players here - Taylor Garner, Josh Simpson, Spencer White and Tom Clurey. I rate Simpson as the best player out of WA and a clear top 10 pick on talent, White was the best KPF available and Clurey was the best KPP in general available. So all of them had genuine claims to this pick.

But, Garner was simply best available. I personally rate Garner ahead of Wines, O'Rourke and Macrae. I think he is a more versatile, more damaging player with a far greater scope for improvement. The only weakness or risk in picking him here would be his injury issues, he did pop his shoulder out in every Championships game he played in. But he has had it reconstructed, and he'll be right to go at the start of the season. In terms of his football, I don't think there are many weaknesses - certainly not his marking, kicking or tackling. And he just has that natural feel for the game that only the best players have.

Why Fremantle? Imagine having Fyfe, Crozier and Garner all playing in the same side together. Being able to rotate those three (as well as Morabito and hopefully Michie) around the ground would be excellent and teams wouldn't know who to stop. To that point, I would develop Garner into a defender so we could have one in each area of the ground. He has done it before, and has all the traits to become one of the best rebounding defenders in the game.

Well, Quigley ruined the surprise. But nonetheless...

Pick 37 Fremantle - Liam Flaherty (195cm, 87kg forward - Eastlake)

I had Flaherty pencilled in here from the start, which is one of the reasons I avoided going tall in the first round. It may seem a little bit early, given he is currently in no other mock draft (except my own). But I really like the look of him, and the rest of the KPFs from here on out are all fairly even. Guys like Colledge and Close would be the 'bigger names', but it's the lesser names like Flaherty and Josh Porter who intrigue me the most. So I thought I would take one here.

Liam Flaherty is a 19 year old key forward from NSW, who missed a fair chunk of last season through injury so was given another chance this year with the NSW side in the U18 Championships. He has also played seniors over in NSW, winning the Rising Star award in the NEAFL this year. As I've said before, I don't typically see a lot of NSW football. But I've made a focus of trying to see more of Flaherty this year, as he was really impressive in the U18 Championships - in the opening round I would argue he got the better of Tom Clurey, while he had a dominant match against the smaller NT side too. He is also a part of the GWS Academy and got a chance to line up with their reserves side this year - scoring goals against the Lions and the Suns.

When drafting a KPP outside of the first round, it's about finding a guy who ticks enough of the boxes. And then you work on the rest. And for me, Flaherty ticks a lot of boxes. If he were from a Division 1 state, I genuinely think he would be highly regarded. For starters, he is a very nice size for a key forward. Next, he has strong hands above his head and can pluck a contested mark. He also has very good speed for a KPF, so he not only gets a break on his opponent but he can really attack a marking contest. When the ball is on the ground, he moves well and he isn't a liability below his knees - at times this year, he was allowed to run up onto a wing. And most importantly of all for a key forward, he actually kicks goals. But I think the thing that impresses me the most, is his work off the field. From all reports, he is a true professional. He trained for months in the lead up to the Combine, so there is no question about how much he wants an opportunity.

In terms of why he isn't more heavily talked about, being from NSW is surely one factor. He can go missing in games a bit when he is played deep, but find me an 18/19 year old who doesn't have issues with consistency. I guess the main question (like it is with everyone) is just much development he has left. Personally, I think it's a fair bit and for me he has enough traits to suggest he'd be worth a shot. But maybe the professionals who see him on a weekly basis will say otherwise. Who knows.

Perhaps he wont ever get to the level of fellow New South Welshman Taylor Walker, but in my humble opinion he could go close.

So apparently I don't get another pick in this thing, unless Fremantle happen to get their delistings done soon. Which means, I better make this pick count...

Pick 40 Fremantle - Mitch Wilkins (182cm, 72kg defender - Norwood)

I've purposely kept Mitch Wilkins somewhat under wraps just so I could pick him here. Which was no easy task, as everyone knows how much I love to talk about players from SA. But he is one of the more interesting players to come out of South Australia this year in my opinion, and I know that is a commonly held view among a number of people over here. I don't think it's reached the east coast yet though.

Unfortunately, Wilkins was not part of the South Australian squad for the U18 Championships. And to make matters even worse, he injured his shoulder midway through the season and had to have a reconstruction. So all up, he managed just the 8 games in the SANFL this year. And that's to go with his one game last season, but that's what happens when you go to a private school.

But, there is lots to like about his game. In terms of what type of game he plays, when he was able to get on the park he typically played across half back with stints further up the ground on a wing. He has good natural speed, and knows how to use it to his advantage. And he is a very nice kick, very rarely does he waste a disposal. I'm not sure his disposal itself is elite, but more that he is a smart player and has good vision of everything ahead of him. So he just makes the right decisions. All of that makes him a dangerous player with ball in hand. But in addition to playing as a rebounding defender, Wilkins has also played more defensive roles, on both small and medium forwards. And for someone his size, he is quite good above his head. As much as Fremantle fans may hate to hear it (I don't know why, we can just be an irrational bunch sometimes), he isn't too dissimilar to Garrick Ibbotson - just a little shorter and a little quicker.

In terms of Fremantle being the team to select him, it's a case of him fitting what I perceive as needs - more run, more skill and being a small defender. I could have gone for a midfielder or another KPP here, but we've still yet to replace the great man Roger Hayden down back. Not to say Wilkins couldn't have a role in the midfield at some stage, but I think he could make himself a nice home in the backlines.

Is he the consensus pick here? God no. But it only takes one team to like a player, and I like Wilkins.

I think it was only ever done to suck up to new expansion teams and their thousand first round draft picks. Glad it's over too.
