Any Eagles players playing today?

Mitch Brown
Koby Stevens? (was yesterdays travelling emergency)
Dick
Papertalk?
Strijk

Papertalk and Dick would be in the 2s i'd say. Looking forward to seeing Brown and Stevens first hand. Strijk 1's for WP i'd imagine. His form hasnt been to bad has it?

Did anyone see Hamp play on the weekend. Missed the Peel / Claremont game. Personally i think Claremont should just let him go to West Perth because he has become a stale reserves player at Claremont. Fighting for a tall spot inside 50 already with Chad Jones, Tom Lee, Jeremy McGovern and Silvagni when he plays forward just to name a handful. Plus there's the mid size and smaller crew of Medhurst, Richardson and Gilligan / Weedon who got sent to the 2s last week as well.

Claremont are offering Hamp 2 more senior games i think before making the decision but for me its just delaying the inevitable

His not getting picked on merit or need i think. They just dont want to lose a handy 3rd tall forward who's agile and has a good motor to another club which is fair enough but its halting Hamp's progression and his chances of staying on the rookie list at West Coast

Brad Dick has 7 disposals(6k, 1 h/b), 1 mark, 3 i50's and 2 goals at half time.:thumbsu:

Didn't Stevens fly over with the team?

Would he be available to play after the flight there and back?

He was at the ground at the start of the game, but of course he may have left early to get on a plane. Would be unlikely that he'd be playing today though, I would have thought.

Yep - just checked it myself on the wafl site - very promising first up.

Didn't add to his stats after H/T though.... didn't get injured did he?

is it a public holiday in WA?? strange to play a game on a monday no??

Good updates these for those of us based over east.

Can someone explain why McGovern is playing defence? In the NAB cup he stormed it in the forward line and I was figuring him being the long term replacement for Lynch.

Is that right?

Swannies I thought the AFL clubs would have learnt a lesson from Barlow but apparently not. Nelson is a kid who has the rare knack of being able to read play which is something that cant be taught. Sure he lacks a half yard of pace, but his kicking is now very good and his endurance has always been very good. Added to that he is an enormously likeable kid who is willing to listen & does his best - extremely teachable.

Will be drafted this year & ultimately will become a good AFL player. IMO is a better prospect going forward than several names currently on WC's list.

Swannies how was Newman yesterday? Did it go his way or did he work hard for it?

Newman worked pretty hard in my view. When Perth stormed out of the blocks and put on 4 goals to 1, he was one of the few forwards that kept working hard and kept them in the game, chasing, tackling, harassing etc.

And apparently they haven't learnt a lot Bond, in terms of recruiters and footballers, but that kid knows how to find the footy.

He started the game playing forward, but part of the reason he was recruited is the Eagles hierarchy see him as being able to play both ends of the ground. Thomson went off with a leg/ankle injury, I believe, so he was probably swung back there to fill the gap.

Brad Dick had his first run today in the reserves.

6K, 1HB, 1M, 1T, 2 Goals

2 goals is a pretty good return on 6 kicks :thumbsu:

according to the west he only played a half in order to ease him in. encouraging return.....fingers crossed for him and wc

3 minutes into the last quarter Koby has 23 touches: 6 kicks, 17 handballs.
Strijk has 16 disposals, 10 marks and 3.1 at the 22 minute mark of the final quarter.

Swannies long term what are your thoughts on mcgovern being a marking third tall in defence?
