NFL 2012 NFL Draft - Discussion

Browns had a very good last few rounds. To get Billy Winn and Trevin Wade where they did is a nice surprise. Couple of linebackers and another huge offensive linemen sounds good to me too.

Hopefully Chase Minnifield decides to keep the family legacy alive and sign with us an UDFA too.

Detroit gaining wings.

Former Boise State QB Kellen Moore went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft and has now reached an agreement on an undrafted free agent deal with the Detroit Lions, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Moore is the winningest quarterback in FBS history.

Moore enters Detroit solely as a backup to Matthew Stafford, who is clearly the future of the franchise. Stafford does have a history of injury so if Moore can make the roster, and perhaps even the No. 2 job, he's only a snap away from playing. Of course, that's a lot more difficult than just agreeing to a contract, which is all he's done now.

I'd be upset if I were Cousins. Has no hope of starting in Washington, career-backup unless he ends up getting released and signed elsewhere.

Wouldn't surprise GG.. I agree. Wrong pick- wrong team... neither of the two benefit... was this a 'spite pick?'

Redskins really blundered on wasting their third pick here.
THey've got an elusive QB who will need all the protection possible plus WEAPONS..
A stack of notable possibilities they should of pursued with many going after their 4th round selection (107th). I'd be filthy if I was a Redskins fan.

So he doesn't even have a chance at getting 2nd team reps (Not that he would end up anywhere near there anyway)...
He'd be one of 3 QB's there.
He'd be behind an injury prone Stafford.
And an undrafted ex NFL-Europa QB who's 32.

By next season, he could have backup solidified!

Good points DB. Detroit is the right place to be for a aspiring rookie back up. It's what becomes of his opportunities that will determine if he takes his career to the next level.
Of most players drafted after the 5th... undrafted Moore will be the most content I'd say.

No, GB or Philly is the place to be if you're a late round/UDFA QB and GB got a great developmental QB in BJ Coleman in the 7th round. It wouldn't surprise me if we see another Matt Flynn situation in 3 or 4 years time with him

Like you're going to show the other 31 teams what you've got there?

The ideal places to be a backup right now are.

New Orleans
Denver
New England
Detroit
Minnesota
New York Jets
Tennessee
Jacksonville

Ok, I MIGHT concede Philadelphia as well.

New Orleans, Denver and New England have older QB's, so a backup is more likely to come in and give them a break as well as have a shot to start in a few years as they reach retirement age.

Minnesota, New York Jets, Tennessee and Jacksonville have shit starters, so if you can get in and get that #2 spot, you could very easily get a start when the guy above you gets dropped for shit play.

Detroit and Philly have injury prone QB's so they could come in for a few games here and there and look good as well, improving their stock for a trade or free agency when it arrises.

Why is Detroit a good place to be? Hill is one of the leagues best back up QBs in the league, and if he had half the mind to, could compete against some of the weaker QBs in the league for a starting spot (And if teams weren't so enamoured with finding the long term youth solution). He is exactly what you want in a backup QB. No undrafted rookie is going to take second team reps from him.

6 drafted
3 UDFA signed

at least 1 more to come, and perhaps another 2.

Enjoy the NFL McClellin (Bears), Martin (Buccaneers), Crawford (Cowboys), Iloka (Bengals), Winn (Browns), Potter (Cardinals), Baker (Vikings), Moore (Lions) and Tevis (Saints)

Hopefully Shoemaker, Hout and Efaw can join you soon.

Ah, so you can't really answer why and instead are crying on the inside knowing your dud QB is never ever going to see the field.

No, I just cant be ****ed replying seriously to an obvious troll.

Calling Shaun Hill a good second QB, which he is especially for an oft injured player, is more of a troll than blatantly spamming up a QB that failed to get drafted, giving him any semblance of a chance to become a second string QB? And to top it off being blatantly wrong about the situation he finds himself in as an undrafted FA?

Sure...

Are you always so selective when looking back on your own posts?

Anyway, I don't have time for this shit right now.

Jarrell Root to Miami Dolphins.

Even our backups are getting onto NFL lists now! (He was behind Crawford and McClellin, and he was heavily in the DL rotation, so it's not like he's bad)

Very happy as a chargers fan from our 3 day draft.

I spoke about our first two days and how well we upgraded our defense.

To then get a well rated Tight end Ladarius Green , two offensive line men and a running back, some good depth added to the offense.

Quite happy with that:thumbsu:

Surprised Chris Polk didn't get drafted, will be interested to see where he sings.

Nobody bar you gives a shit about Kellen Moore. We wouldn't be discussing him so much if it wasn't for you severely overrating him in every draft thread.

FWIW, didn't you say that you wouldn't of been surprised if he was drafted in the 3rd round?:confused:

Polk didn't get drafted because he has some degenerative (sp?) condition. Teams also think that he doesn't have much tread left on the tires after being smashed for 38 games.

Quoting for supreme accuracy.

I don't know much about this Moore character.

Why does DB think he's the second coming of Christ?

FG, you're either taking the piss or have avoided reading DB's posts. He's been talking up Moore the past couple years in various threads- you might start with his Boise State thread, which is near the top.

To be fair, he had an excellent career at BSU, and apart from height issues (he somehow topped out at 6 feet during the combines- better guess is 5 foot 10....he could be a very serviceable QB for an NFL team.

In my mind, certainly showed more than a couple of the QBs who were drafted- but NFL drafts can often be very strange.
