With caddy now offically on the move from the suns, and the suns getting another HIGH draft pick to play with does that put them in the box seat for tippet.

Think they will go for a mini draft pick.

Only just found out that Melbourne and Lucas Cook have 'parted ways'. Was a bit of a surprise. Doesn't make Melbourne look good with so many players wanting to leave in recent years.

Perhaps not the worst thing for them though. I feel like they need a cleaning out of sorts, similar to what Hardwick did at Richmond. Just not sure their current list will cut it.

They're in serious trouble Melbourne, the only thing I can see them doing now is another complete clear out*, but they'll be down the bottom for at least another 5 years the way I see it

*which for us I think is unfortunate because I could've seen a deal where we get there pick 13(?) for Cornelius somehow (with other additions)

Also, what about Banfield-Koby Stevens? Both players fill a void (pacey forward for WC, inside mid for us)

One player those on the Freo board think might be traded is Nick Suban. Might be an option for getting Hawksley home.

Sadly for Jimmy, I doubt he's going to get given another chance.

Jared Rivers is gonna try free agency? I would've thought that he was a player Melbourne would want to keep.

He's been through about three re-builds already. Wouldn't blame him for not wanting to start again.

Same old Richmond mouth breathers trying to revive the McGuane to Brisbane rumours.

Cute.
Reminds me of a game of hot potato, or:

What are people thoughts on Port player Pearce, not that i've watched every port game but i wouldn't mind our guys atleast asking the question.

On another note, any chance in working a three way trade with GWS, regarding Giles and Tippett?

Why do they say that Viney will get picked up by Melb with its second round pick if GC and GWS don't take him? Can't any club take him if they beat Melb's bid? e.g. Us with our first round pick. I'm confused.

Because if we bid with our pick 8 Melbourne's next best is pick 26 (as it stands at the moment) All Melbourne has to do is match our bid with their next nearest to ours. Melbourne's bid takes preference.

If GWS or GC bid, Melbourne has to bid with the next best which is pick 3.

Hope it clears it a bit.

Under the father/son bidding system, rival clubs but their highest bid in for a player and the club can match it with their next pick.

As GWS/GC only have picks before Melbournes first round they are the only clubs that could force them to use pick #3, if the bulldogs elected they would take Viney at pick #5 Melbournes next selection is their second rounder (compensation pick are not involved, only the original picks given for finishing positions)

It makes a fair system stopping players like Ablett going for 3rd rounders

Nope, it doesn't work like that. It's not a normal auction. The father/son club only has to use their next pick after the pick bid by another team to win the player. If we bid, Melbourne's second round pick is their next one and hence the one they would use to match our bid.
