I would like to see the results from draft camp before I get excited about Sheed. He appears to be another inside player to me, one who can get the ball okay, but what we need in the midfield now is PACE and good skills to get the ball down to our forwards.

Pace is so over-rated - if you can win possession and have good skills you can make the opposition look slow irrespective of how quick you can run a 20m sprint. As others have mentioned Sheed is the sort of player who can afford to be a touch slower than other mids (and personally I'll be interested in his draft camp times because I think he is quicker than he is being given credit for) because his awareness is so good that he buys himself time. In addition, Sheed has a great fitness base that could potentially get elite with a couple of AFL pre-seasons under the belt (I can see him really stepping up late in close matches over time) and a very good eye for a goal. If you get the opportunity watch the Vic Country vs WA U18's match from earlier this year - I think it might sell you on Sheed - he's no one-trick pony.

Wouldn't have thought Cameron is a 2nd round pick, would prefer him to be taken later than that.

To be fair after his performance on ball at U18 champs he'd be a sneaky chance for a second round pick. Probably not that early though.

Rumors that attach players to picks beyond the first five or so picks are generally BS. Especially this early on.

Would be happy with Boekhurst in the RD or late in the ND.

I wouldn't give up a first rounder for him now. He's going to take a long time to recover and will have continual problems throughout his career.

Not worth the risk anymore.

With the capped rotations we need a mid who can also play forward. Freeman and Bontempelli both provide this option. Sheed, while he can kick goals, cant rest forward.

IMO Bontempelli and Freeman both have the body shape to play next year but will be playing more half forward rotating through the middle. Sheed is a mid and a mid only. He can possibly play the high half forward role but I like that Freeman and Bontempelli can both play as a deep forward. Because Sheed is pretty much a mid only I dont see him having a big impact next year as it will take some time to build the body to play as an inside mid

Did you watch the U18s Sheed killed it when resting forward used his body really well and can slot goals from anywhere

Need to solve our midfield problems sooner rather than later, imo go for a 'pure' mid straight up. Sheed for me.

So now that trade period is over, what are some preferences/hopes for our picks? Vozzo said we haven't decided if we'll use 3 or 4. I'm asking because I really don't have any idea beyond reading/videos so interested in the views of the knowledgeable.

- like many I'd be happy with Sheed or Acres. Beyond that I'm not really sure, Freeman sounds ok. Don't want a KPP or a flanker really.
- What is the worst case scenario for us?
Would it be if Boyd, Kelly, Bontempelli, Billings, Aish, Scharenberg, McDonald, Freeman, Sheed, Acres all go in the top 10? Would leave us with the choice of Salem, Lennon, Kolodjashnij, Taylor, Crouch, Gardner or McCarthy. Not sure who we'd select out of those seven or others?

- I think definitely at least one more midfielder.
- I like the sound of Cripps and Robertson.
- Potentially a small forward (or mid/fwd who is good at ground level and can rove a goal) if there are any decent players available.
- Are there any mature mids we could pick up? I don't mind the idea in theory, potentially with 43/49, but depends if there is any quality there.
- Would love Garlett, as it would mean our recruiters think it's a risk worth taking, but I don't think we'll take him.
