True but Melbourne would rather get something for him than force him into the draft and get nothing.
If Carlton offers something like a second rounder pick 30 odd It's not that much use to Melbourne so they could refuse.

Carlton may manipulate the draft then and make sure he gets to them. Very easy to do.
Melbourne should at least inquire about a Hampson or Warnock someone that is ready to play rather than a pick.
They can manipulate the draft but if Watts gets some attention from other clubs he might think twice about heading to Carlton they can't take that risk.

Just tell Watts not to do any interviews or medicals with any club but the club of his choice.

If Watts wants out the club that he wants to go to only has to manipulate the draft to get him. No trade required.
It's not as tho its Hawthorn offering him a contract where he'll be playing deep in September its Carlton a middle of the road club.

9/10 times - the player who declares where he wants to play, typically gets there.

Similar to Luke Ball/Ben Jacobs.
None of the big clubs wanted Jacobs and Luke Ball knew he'd be playing deep in finals Carlton is heading backwards.

Saints, Crows, Suns, Bulldogs, Brisbane and West Coast would like to have a look I'd think.

Luke Ball made it all the way to Pick #30 in 2009 - because Collingwood and he manipulated the draft.

You think other clubs wouldn't have had a sniff?

No club wants to recruit a player that doesn't want to be there.

Yeah so its simple Carlton just manipulate the draft to get him. There are no rules stopping Carlton doing it.

This post doesn't make any sense.

What does it have to do with "big clubs" and Carlton heading backwards?
If Jack nominates Carlton fair enough but a fair few clubs will be asking the question why would he choose Carlton?
Guarantee if Hawthorn or Geelong ask he won't be going to Carlton

Why? He may not get the oppurtunities at those two clubs. Like I said if Carlton want him they will get him for free by manipulating the draft.

Can't see it happening think Carlton should get the lube out and give up their first rounder
Look at the players that have bent over their clubs over lately they all head to the top teams.
