Just on a side note, I was having a beer with couple of Dave Warner's old schools buddies today who shared with me that Warner's nickname is Lloyd based on the character from Dumb & Dumber

Apparently he is not to bright is our Davie Warner, no surprises really
Just as well he opens the batting for Australia.

Herald sun have named the players expected to be charged with infraction notices.

Hopefully for your sake you were watching United instead of the Swans/Eagles. Some cracking goals in that game.

Just on that point in years gone bye i have always meh the soccer in this country mainly because of the poor skills & shooting for goal "but" in the last couple of years & especially this year some of the goals that have been scored are nothing short of outstanding & AU last game was a classic example of that.

I think the message left clearly shows what is not acceptable so has value for that reason. It's not something is actually abusive or offensive - its just a troll. Helps remove any greyness for others who may want to make a similar remark.

There was actual abuse in what I deleted - and once something is dealt with we will always come down hard on people chipping in, esp if abusive. It's done, just move on.

If that's not clear or you want to discuss - drop me a PM.

I would have made a bloody good mod in years gone by.

Still odd though. 14 blokes walked in and admitted it and are in the shit. 26 didn't and are in the clear. If that's the case the investigation could have been concluded after a few hours without the need for thousands of documents.
Dont get me wrong, I think its a bit strange, but from my reading of that article, its their admissions that hanged them

Partially true. He left because he didn't enjoy living life in a goldfish bowl, where his every move was under public scrutiny. It wasn't just the media. He didn't enjoy being unable to walk down the street, or go to the beach, without having well-intended Crows fans approaching him.

He chose Sydney over his other options because of the $$$, but that was after he'd already made the decision to leave.
My reading of the situation, and without going through the full history ......Tippett had instructed his manager to undertake negotiations for a new contract, hence the Crows optimism

During this time he had the rash of concussions and the constant Adelaide media, the constant questions as he walked the streets got under his skin and hence the move interstate

IMO no concussions & Tippett MAY well have still been with the Crows

Absolutely this.

When the whole thing was blowing up and they kept offering people the chance to come forward and admit it to reduce penalties it reeked of there not being enough smoking guns to pin people without the positive tests. If they'd all just banded together, denied everything and stayed quiet they would have been fine.

I wonder if any of the 14 will turn state's evidence to get off more lightly?

What are Essendon going to do if the players get a large suspension?

It would be very hard for the AFL to justify giving them extra players in a draft. Unless it's after the season.

You would think the AFL would allow them to promote players off their rookie list as replacements. That covers their problem in the short term. What they do in the longer term is beyond me.

They still have a problem, even if the penalties are handed down post-season, as the penalties have to be served in-season. These players will all be on multi-year contracts, so they can't just delist them all and draft replacements.

Why should the AFL grant them this privladge? They have brought the game into disrepute after all.

The AFL don't own them any favours.

Well, other then salary cap implications, they can still delist them and then draft 10 first year rookies on minimal wages.

Maybe, the AFL should do this and really send a string message. Finish bottom with no draft picks (I know they won't punish them twice with this but they shouldn't reward them) as a result of your own stupidity.

Because they may not be able to field a team at times without this ability. Depends on how many injuries they suffer during the season. Rookie listed players are at least on their lists - they're their players. The alternative is to allow them to promote players from Bendigo, who aren't even contracted to Essendon.

They can only do that at draft time. This doesn't help them if the players are banned with games still to play.

The AFL would probably love to see them forfeit. Unfortunately they're contractually bound to provide the television companies with 9 AFL games per week (split rounds duly noted).

AFL would allow Dons to top up their list if 10 players suspended as they wouldn't want an danger of them not being able to fill a team ... as this would mean big TV $'s.
Why don't they just take more Norwood players since we are the breeding ground for the afl

I wonder if AFL clubs could be given the option of a mid-season trade to the Bombers for the pick(s) the Bombers get pinged for?

Every club would have surplus half-decent players that for whatever reason are out of the 22.

Extraordinary meeting of the Commission...
