When I say 'steal', I was referring to what they were prepared to trade for him, which the club deemed was not sufficient. Should I be surprised that you chose to make a snide response?Steal an under-performing under-developed player from us ??
Lucky our club officials saw it in time and then "the jig was up".
Well, we have a structural imbalance.Other than Talia, I'm not kicking myself over not getting any of those KPs.
Well, we have a structural imbalance.
Our recruiting strategy relies on the mercy of SOS at the next trade week. What if we can't shake free a Tomlinson or a Patton?

It would be an interesting 2015 if Waite retires and the club decide to delist Levi and Sam, that's for sure.I guess we better be ready to wave the white flag & hand the keys in.
Like Kennedy, Watson, McCarthy and Mitchell over Pendlebury, Hurn, Smith/Guthrie, Parker and Fasolo? We said the same thing about passing on
There's a pattern - we take a 'small' over a KPP chosen soon afterwards.
- Tyrone Vickery (pick 8), Phil Davis (pick 10) for Chris Yarran.
- Daniel Talia (pick 13) for Kane Lucas.
- Cameron McCarthy (pick 14) for Patrick Cripps.
WTF.Yarran took 3 years to cement a spot in the 'best 22'. Lucas is still on the periphery.
Meanwhile Davis is co-captain and Talia is a cornerstone of his team's defence.
At Carlton, enormous expectation unfairly mounts on Watson one of only 2 genuine KPP under 24 (plus Giles), while c-grade forwards Casboult and Rowe play VFL.

Lucas spent 2 years recovering from an injury that should have been sorted out in 6 weeks. Our clubs development of young quality players and our rehabilitation of injured players over the past 6-7 years has been absolutely shite. I want to know who the fool was that said that it was a good idea to bring Laidler back 4 weeks after his knee injury?Yarran took 3 years to cement a spot in the 'best 22'. Why didn't we chase, Jesse White???

Left field, but we could try recruiting one...Well, we have a structural imbalance.

That'll never workLeft field, but we could try recruiting one...

I'm still thinking that Watson should be given an extended run at CHF, we've played worse there! I think his size and kicking may be something we'd value up there and it wouldn't expose his defensive weaknesses.
Quite novel. We haven't drafted a decent KPF since Kennedy back in 2005.Left field, but we could try recruiting one...
The problem with recruiting a key forward from the draft is you generally have to wait 3 to 4 years for them to hit their straps.
Given the age profile of our team can we afford to wait 4 years?
Murphy and Daisy both 27 this year. Surely we want to be contending before they hit 30?
I reckon trading for a big monster key forward is still the way to go.
If we are going down the rebuild path why did we recruit Thomas?
Why did we extend Simpson's contract?
These type of decisions do not reflect a club looking to rebuild.
