Not really a huge fan of Little Creatures. At least not enough to pay the extra $3-$4 extra it costs compared to a 6 pack of Coopers.

no need to get snobby about it and especially no need to bag people who take an interest.

You guys need to get away from the commercial brews as they are a slight improvement on cats piss, and try some craft brews.

McLaren Vale make a good wine, but also make a great beer.

Matilda Bay, Little Creatures etc.

I do like my Ales though, so personal choice, but there are far better beers available that are not from CUB or Lion Nathan.

Been drinking steamrail beers over the Xmas period - ales & pilsner.

So glad we got James squire beer at Adelaide oval as not a fan of the chemical tasting beers either.

Fyfe busted a disc in his back and will be out for 2 months. Big blow for Freo.

Freo saying he will be back training in January after the break, but would be a huge concern.

Tanunda's Barrosa Valley Brewing company make some of the best brews I've had. Their Double IPA is my favourite beer and has the best flavour for an 8% beer. Worth a try.

I love a drop of white but have gone away from reds a bit. No reason to be paying anymore than about $25 a bottle at the high end eg Shaw & Smith Sav Blanc is excellent - range down to $12 for a bottle of Giesen Sav Blanc which I guzzle.

Sparkling - you can get Trilogy for $12 which is nice or I even tracked down Croser at $18 at Xmas.

Probably my favourite is Rockfords Alacante Bouche which is a dark rose served chilled. $25

All great drinking and nothing near $40. I accept reds are generally dearer though. Even so when I was drinking red, a bottle of Jamiesons Run was never more than $15

Cheers, I've had Rockfords Alacante way back, if you're looking for a cheaper version, try Bella Estate, $12 and it's pretty good

Asahi is probably my favorite beer all up.

Good stuff though. Got the carnival of love for the folks ruby anniversary.

We purchased a dozen of The Boxer for $27 each. Not a bad drop but I normally stick to beer. There's something about vomiting at 4am that's lost its appeal.

So people are saying a bottle of Penfolds Grange Hermitage isn't world class.

Or a Jacob's Creek Cabernet Sauvignon white wine doesn't classify as a world class wine?

And Wolf Creek make some very nice wines and thery are sold all across the world.

We have some very nice drops that appeals to many different pallets.

What I am saying is that each region tends to have a speciality that is superior or at least equal to that of the other regions. Quality wine of all varieties aren't confined to just one region and the rest are 2nd rate. Doesn't work like that purely because of the different types of weather needed to grow the different types of grapes. Combine that with taste and it almost makes it impossible to just say a region is the best.

That's a fairly controversial view.

Christmas day we had a bottle of Moet.

The cheaper sparkling white we also had was much better IMO.

Champagne (I know) as with all wine is definitely a taste thing. Expensive doesn't equal favourable to your pallet. The only expensive champagnes that we buy is Veuve and Bollinger. Even then it's only a token of the event being celebrated. It's certainly not that we enjoy them any more than a $20 bottle.

The issue with expensive reds is that they're generally designed to be cellared in order to enjoy the full value. Obviously personal preference is still the key driver, but it is certainly one reason why a $20 bottle drinks better than a $70 bottle.
