I feel sorry for their supporters. They love the words coming from Trigg and believe they're finally on the right track.

True Massie on Buddy was not what cost us the game.

What cost us was Clarko making changes and stubborn Craigy backing in his players and game plan and.just expecting us to "work harder" over countering Clarko's moves. Another current AFL coach has this mantra.

Craigy is a great teacher and prepares his players well to carry out his game plan. But making "on the fly" changes was foreign to him. Is th reason we played like "Crowbots" under him. Is also (IMO) a reason why guys like VB and Mackay have struggled in their roles post Craigy as their development as young players took place in a very rigid system.

One match up does not cost a game. As others have said we had free men in our backline that did not cover the right space. We would have still won the game had Thommo not kicked it out of bounds.


When you hear any player he coached, including guys I know who played under him at Norwood, the common theme is always great teacher but poor at tactics and handling things that happen beyond his control Hence he was pretty much always outcoached in Finals as great coaches are more creative in September.

He was not a great coach, but was good at drilling into players what their roles were and what they had to do. It all fell apart when our players had to something beyond that, ie we were Crowbots.


Massie on Franklin is a great example of his stubborness and lack of want (or know how to) change things around, but we could have won if he only kicked 6.2.

ADELAIDE skipper Taylor Walker has expressed his gratitude to former Crows coach Neil Craig for being hard on him early in his career.

The Crows skipper will play his 100th senior game on Saturday against the Sydney Swans, and has long been a lock in the club's best 22.

But it wasn't always that way.

Walker struggled to cement a place in the side early on his career, with Craig dropping him to the SANFL on numerous occasions to work on his defensive game.

Walker said while the treatment was annoying at the time, in hindsight he thanked the coach for teaching him valuable lessons.

"He was always onto me about my defensive sort of stuff, and I think I've got it to a level now where it's consistent," Walker said.

"At the time you think 'why can't I just play' because that's what you want to do, but now you look back and think it's a great learning curve.
