Melbourne Pick 44 - Kade Answerth (VIC – MID)

Don't know much about him but saw him in the TAC Grand Final and looked impressive. Anyone who performs in the bigger games deserves a chance.

Pick 45 North Melbourne - Stephen Tahana

Pretty good all round defender to replace McMahon on the list. Didn't really build much on his promising 2014 and hasn't shown much in the midfield but has shown for two years now that he's quite good in defence.

He's quite a relaxed looking smooth mover, very good kick and capable of shutting his man down. Body doesn't need too much development but it will probably take him a while to get used to the speed and intensity of the AFL. If he can do that, his composure and decision making will be good assets.

There was another player I rated higher at this pick but I'm almost certain he'll be available at my next pick. After loading up on talls last year I've so far drafted one forward, one fwd/outside mid, one inside/outside mid and a small defender with one midfielder to come to round out their list after finishing top four the last two years. Each of the players drafted is some chance to play next year which is an important consideration for a top four team.

I dont believe Brisbane have any picks remaining and also #47 is Hawks selection unless things have changed that i have not noticed

But If Brisbane do have another selection then

Brisbane will Select Darcy Cameron
20yo 204cm 104kg Ruckman from Claremont
I bid on an academy pick... smh

You can either match the bid and go into debt next year (albeit in the third round) or not match the bid and let the QLD born academy player be recruited by the Hawks.

And have no clue why you've mentioned another draftee. If Brisbane don't have any picks left you're done... unless you are to bid on academy selections. This exact scenario.

#RIP

Melbourne Pick 48 - Dylan Smith

198cm 81kg key forward/forward from Swan Districtst

Hasnt done as much as other young talls this year but apparently been injured a lot. Very agile and looks a footballer. Could well develop and worth the pick at 48.

All in all Melbourne would be happy with draft/trade period. Bought in Melksham Bugg Kennedy to add to midfield depth plus Francis (star) & Answerth. They would be hoping for Trengrove & Petracca to get on the park in 2016 to add to Jones, Brayshaw, Tyson, VandenBerg Viney & Vince. McKay & Smith could easily be support for Hogan for a decade. Dawes, Pederson & Tom McDonald can play there now.

List has some real depth and talent now and will step up to finals in the next 2-3 years.

Best 25 2016

B: Jetta McDonald Dunn
HB: Lumumba Frost Salem

Foll: Gawn Brayshaw Jones
C: Petracca Viney Tyson

HF: Francis Dawes Melksham
F: Garlett Hogan Pederson

Int: Vince Kennedy VandenBerg Watts
Em: Trengrove Neale-Bullen Stretch

The Dogs don't see much else they want, but will grab someone they feel may go early and before their selection, in the RD.
A bit speculative but why not, so it will be one of the best athletes the draft camp has seen:

Western Bulldogs: #49 Joshua Schoenfeld

The Dogs are over and out.............. gandaal You..are..next.

:thumbsu: Josh darn it, I was hoping he'd last until the rookie draft. ;) With a reduction in rotations, a Hartung type may be where the game is heading.

Pick #50: Richmond

We cannot believe it. Cannot believe it. The player we rated as our number #19 selection has made it through to our second pick. It's almost unbelievable. But it is believable. You can trust us recruiters to tell you the truth post draft. Right?

Anyway we can't believe it. Have I mentioned that yet? Richmond supporters can now feel relieved that they didn't really give up pick 19 for a mature aged, lazy, small VFL defender who can't kick, can't apply any defensive pressure, can't stick to any defensive structures, and suffers from the dreaded "social issues". We gave up pick #50 instead because here's the player we wanted anyway. Aren't we just great?

Pick #50: Richmond - Aidyn Johnson
Height: 184cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 31/10/1997

Quick, extremely agile, forward flanker with the underrated ability of hitting the scoreboard on a regular basis. Has had seriously concerning injury troubles this year which meant that we didn't get to see him very much during his draft year, but the talent is there and we're in a position to take a risk on a high end talent this late in the draft.

Damn you. I was keeping so quiet!

I see the Pioneers regularly and I don't think I saw him play once. That is injury troubles.
For all that, he looked to be reasonable last year, if he is the kid I remember.

He managed only one game this year. If anyone does pick him up it'll be a complete shot in the dark. But then this draft isn't exactly deep so better to take a chance on a potentially quality player then draft a kid you know will never make it.

Pick 51: Sydney: Lachlan Behagg:
Height: 195cm,
Weight: 88kg,
DOB: 01/10/1997
Recruited from: Manley Giants
Profile: Behagg is a key position player who can play forward or back. His endurance is particularly impressive for a big guy. Essendon have also been interested in Behagg. Behagg also impressed for NSW-ACT at the Championships. For his club side he was ranked in the top 4 players for 11 of his 16 games.

Sydney only have 1 clear top player in their Academy crop this year and Mills is it. However, they have nominated 4 other guys as their Academy potential picks. Lachlan Behagg is one of these. He is tall and reasonably mobile and he keeps going. He has apparently really worked on that to make himself more draftable.
Fair enough.
I saw him play against the Bendigo Pioneers at QEO, where the Pios managed their 1st win for the year, coming from well behind to beat NSW-ACT. Behagg had time both forward and back and was OK. He beat the Pio forwards, but that wasn't a huge feat as the Pios forwards were very ordinary this year.
I saw him play 1 game at the Champs and he was again good without being outstanding.
Considering that Sydney need to work on their defence I thought they could well take one of their own with this pick.

Pick 52- Brayden Fiorini

Another outside flanker. I simply rate Fiorini higher than I do the alternatives. Efficient player who should be able to come in after some development at a half-back flanker with solid disposal

Pick 53. Essendon - Michael Hartley
Height: 198cm, Weight: 102kg, DOB: 07/06/1993

Was actually weighing up between Hartley and Glass-McCasker during my last pick, so we'll grab Hartley here. He should be able to play straight away as a third tall or as a key defender to relieve Hooker/Hurley when they go forward.

Here's what our best 22 could look like in 2016.

B: Mark Baguley, Cale Hooker, Michael Hartley
HB: Michael Hibberd, Michael Hurley, Brendon Goddard
C: David Myers, Jobe Watson, David Zaharakis
HF: Zach Merrett, Shaun McKernan, Travis Colyer
F: Charlie Curnow, Joe Daniher, Kyle Langford
Foll: Matthew Leuenberger, Dyson Heppell, Heath Hocking
I/C: Brent Stanton, Craig Bird, Martin Gleeson, Darcy Parish

Depth: Tom Bellchambers, James Gwilt, Adam Cooney, Jayden Laverde, Luke Partington, Courtenay Dempsey, Ben Howlett, Jackson Merrett, Shaun Edwards, Orazio Fantasia, Nick Kommer, Tayte Pears
