But the players we traded in for our 1st round picks the last two years are better than what we would have drafted, of this I am sure.

We've got our drafting pretty right of late. DBJ, Impey, Howard, Austin, Frampton, Bonner and Palmer. I back them in to find some pretty special players at 9, 19 and 30.
I have 4 magic beans to sell you

Is it too much to ask for our next list manager to not use future picks to irresponsibly fix their inept trading & player management blunders like Crippsy has?

For him to be happy about using a future first rounder to get our second rounder back is laughably sad.

This is just a post to point out that Collingwood don't have a first rounder this year.

Oh and read the last line again. They will "get one" for this year and give us next years.

That's all well and good, but Cripps thinks we can get back into the draft by trading players next year. This is his only strategy - to keep trading future draft picks. If no-one wanted our scraps this year and not a single trade went through, then what would make next year any different?
Exactly. He spoke of it as if it was a good thing. Doesn't seem to realise all those guys coming out of contract, the majority of which will most likely be delisted, will need to be replaced but with LESS draft picks. In fact lacking our no. 1 pick.

About the only good thing he said was the strategy of continually trading your future first for current year first. Thing is, you have to get somewhere near an equivalent current first back for it to work. Not two frikken second round picks.

Oh and read the last line again. They will "get one" for this year and give us next years.

They'd have to give up something significant to get a first rounder that would have us even entertaining either over those players!

And... they're just about the two most untouchable players on our list, along with Wingard, you'd think.

They'll find a way. Eddie always does.

I'm more pissed off we have actually entertained the offer.

Given their abysmal trading this year, the only player from Port they would go for is Kane Cornes as he fits the age profile.

Not upset with the trade in isolation, but I can't help but feel that we could have got far more in terms of picks for our Pick 9. And please don't tell me Cripps has been wooed by the bullshit draft pick calculator.

Don't see how we could look at our list management and creative negotiating as anything other than thoroughly unimpressive right now.
Exactly. One simple question I'd like to ask him. Did you actually go to ALL the other 17 clubs to shop our 2017 first rounder? Surely 19 and 30 wasn't the best offer.

So, after confirming that no other players are to be traded, at the end of the free agency and trading period, Port Adelaide has so far made the following list changes:

John Butcher
Sam Colquhoun
Kane Mitchell

Ruthless. Making the tough calls.

Now we wait for further delistings of fringe players.
Watch us rookie 2 of them

Collingwood into one of our boys very heavily.

Could only be Gray or Wines.

This will get us a first rounder this year and next years back.

Why could it only be Gray or Wines?

The fact that we had 13 players on the table and not one trade will go through is laughable and embarrassing. Heads need to roll. We are a joke.

Basically, the market does not value them.

We did not "underperform". We simply aren't that good.

Over a long enough time, the ladder does not lie.

But apparently, those same players no one wanted even for a pick 50, will take us to a flag next year.

Because bulldogs, right

Make no mistake people, if it were possible back then these peanuts would have traded our 2011 first rounder at the end of 2010 and we would be watching Wingard dominate at another club. For a club that has regressed two years in a row and missed finals two years in a row to be trading future first round draft picks is just totally and completely irresponsible.
The worry is that Melbourne, Freo and St Kilda have strengthened their lists considerably. We can't beat Carlton and the only team above us on the ladder who might slide is NM.

Even the Januses out there must go into 2017 with a hint of concern that we could finish 12th or lower.

Make one shit trade which kills our chances of getting the talented young KPF we desperately, desperately need, keep all our overpaid duds, don't bother trying to pick up a promising mid like Barrett or a desperately needed back-up KPF like Black on the cheap, then sit back and work on the Penske file. Great stuff Port.

Judging by what they did today maybe it's a good thing that were done making moves. At least it limits the damage.

I dunno, consider it accidental self containment.

I never, ever thought I would hear an official of the club my family has supported for well over 100 years use words in public like `breaking even, ' and `11th.' :(
Big Bob would be spinning in his grave!

Re Cripps, didn't he play 3 or 4 uninspiring games for the Maggies some years back, and then p*ss off for a better deal back in Vic?

If it was him, maybe it's time he p*ssed off again.

I see the wagon starting to take off, hope you don't miss it.

**ck before the interview I was willing to give the club the benefit of the doubt because they must've had a carefully considered plan, but points calculator? REALLY?

Trading picks is something that should be done with maths and data as a basis not some stupid arbitrary points system.

You're missing the part where we have just traded our first round pick for next year! If this plays out how many expect with this list that has at least 13 players with no trade value (i.e. the 2015/16 status quo or worse), then we miss out on a top 10, maybe even top 6, pick next year for 19 and 30 this year!!!!

Perspective. Who would swap pick 6 for 19&30?

I'm still convinced there is another trade but he and the club have to pretend that they were not pre agreed.

There is no way, ever, that you would entertain this. Ever. Pick 30 is nothing at all, pick 19 reasonable at best.

This is just not possible. Has to be a sweetener on ah chee

If not, Keith should resign for derelict leadership
